In all honesty I cannot even put a real date down because we just dont know.
As far as how long I will wait? I will wait for ever for a MMORPG that finally gives me the game that brings back the challege, that allows the players to make real game changing choices.
As far as how long for Darkfall until something that is better or equal too the Darkfalls Feature list comes out.
If I had to take a guess for darkfall beta and release
Beta - Sometime now and the end of the year.
Release - Sometime next year, if beta goes well.
Now I get to ask a question. IF AoC flops will you haters come and admit you were wrong in a public post?
There is no other game like this in development. So I can wait. I'll play other games while waiting.
______________________________ The Sceptics, yes they're special but we've need them to.. I guess. And if they're put more effort MMORPG.com can create a 'Team Sceptic' and send them to the Special Olympus.

Thank you for the reply.
What does AOC have to do with anything though? I'm not even close to being an AOC fanboy, nor any other game. I play many MMO's, but I'm definately not a fanboy of any.
You're simply labeling anyone and everyone that disputes Darkfall as being an AOC fan?
And seriously... You haven't even played AOC. At least have a chance to give it a shot before you proclaim it's demise to the world.
My advice for you is this. Stop "waiting" forever for your "holy grail" of games to come. I assure you, it will never happen. That's right. Darkfall will NOT be "that game" you seek either. Thing is. You don't know how to simply have "fun" playing a game. You don't want a game. You want a game that's exactly suited to your personal preferences in every imaginable way.
Many games in the past were touted as the game to rule all games, including Shadowbane, Dark and Light and Vanguard, to just name a few. Go re-read the older posts on their forums and you will see the "same" type of people proclaiming the same stuff you guys are proclaiming here.
So, even if you are proved to be correct, and Darkfall actually does one day come to pass, you might just be very disappointed. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

No I assumed you were a AoC fan because that is what we get mostly. AoC fanboys trolling Darkfall forums.
Second. I will wait for my Holy Grail of MMOs because I do know what is fun for me and what is not fun for me.
Fun for me is a game that challeges me, a game that allows me to make a mistake but that mistake will cost me something (exp, gear, time, money, something), a game that allows me as a player to effect the gaming world, a game that allows me to custom build my Charater based on my playstyle.
I know how to have "Fun" playing a game, but I also know what it takes for a game to be "Fun" for me. I dont want a game to cater to me, I want a game that has features that I find fun.
Darkfall has ONE HUGE issue for me, its open PVP, I am not a huge PvPer but I will deal with it because the other features of Darkfall are amazing, crafting that means something, city building and sieging, ship to ship combat, custom classes, huge open world with minimal restrictions.
Your right, Darkfall might come out and it may end of not being the game for me, so what? what have I really lost? Nothing. Not time, not money, nothing. Its not like I am just sitting staring at my computer waiting for Darkfall.
I am keeping busying teaching myself how to Program and make MMOs with the RealmCrafter Engine, So I have all the time in the world (until I random die which is the nature of humans).

Im the biggest fan of this game , its concept, the possibility.......
But even I must admit its time they showed some real videos of gameplay and progression. Every time there is a major update, its not an update, its a guy who got invited to see the game who's word we are supposed to trust.
Im fading DF, please bring me back, show me something real.
If you think LoD is a no-name guild then you've been playing the wrong games.
Been playing games 20+ years, never heard of 'em before this "Asp" crap. So to me, there a no-name guild. You act like these guys are supposed to be something special, warranting credibility to all of this in some way. Please, by all means, feel free to elaborate.
lol zor if oyu went instead of him would you want to be called a liar?
Quite frankly, if I came off with the same story as him and absolutely nothing tangible to show the rest of you, yes.
After all, we know how much Darkfall hates interviewers and loves random strangers who want to play their game.
...

Check out the link their forum that was posted earlier & read some of the other posts on the same thread.
That should give a good impression of their credibilty as serious gamers.
Hopefully LoD aren't that representative of the people that want to play DF, as they seem more interested in politically incorrect griefing than any sort of PvP roleplay. On the other hand though, they do seem to prefer to play Orcs.
If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?
One thing that always fascinated me about this whole Darkfall business is that if you believe Wikipedia it was announced back in 2001, roughly about 7 years ago. Though development probably started later, possibly 2002. That's about 6 years. In those 6 years we've seen maybe a handful of screenshots and a few scripted videos that showed no real player interaction. Here's my theory.
We've all heard a lot about the developer's vision of the game, some interviews, dev journals and this Asp's (whoever he is) mysterious trip to Greece when he somehow got an invite into the development studio to try out the game. Now mind you, not a major game magazine or a major review site but rather some obscure Asp person who gets in without a problem. We also have the 2006 interview from a reliable source which sadly only regurgitates what the developers already said time and time again. Unfortunately this reliable source, an actual journalist, was not able to play they game but was rather wisked into the conference room as soon as she got there.
So. We have an obscure person named Asp who got to try the game. But a person from womengamers.com, someone who could probably see through the bull crap, was not allowed to play it but was shown some guy designing a house or some crap.
This next part is pure speculation on my part and I can be wrong.
Keep in mind that Asp claims that they let him play last year's build. Meaning a build from 2006 since his article was posted in 2007. Notice that the person from womengamers.com went there in 2006. If the game was in development for over 4 years at that time, they should've had a working game at least an alpha. Hell, from what I hear, Chronicles of Spellborn is having a closed public beta test and had a closed public alpha last year and TCoS was announced way after Darkfall in 2005. Basicaly, logic dictates that there should've been a somewhat working version. Now apparently they did have a version of Darkfall at that time because they let the Asp person try it about a year later. Now mind you, a lot can happen in a year and I did say that this was purely speculation. My point was that at the time the reporter was there, they had to have had at least an alpha build to show off after being in development for over 4 years.
Then why hide it from an experienced journalist and reviewer? One reason could be that they didn't have a working version. But after at least 4 years of development time, does anyone really believe that? I mean, 4 years is about the amount of time it takes to develop and release a half-decent MMO. We're going on 8 years here since the game was anounced, folks; almost double the time.
Another reason could be that there is no Darkfall and this is all BS. Some kind of a social experiment or maybe a scam. Or, quite simply, Darkfall in its current state is not fit to be called a game yet. Remember the screenshots we all saw? They could've been rendered in 3DSMax or Maya.
Basically, if Darkfall is as close to release, or at least beta as they claim, we would be awash with in-game screenshots and videos depicting various things from traveling to fighting to character interaction. We would have interviews with developers, advertisements, etc. The usual hype. We have nothing besides dev journals on warcry. Journals that attempt to bash games which are about to be released.
The funny thing is, Darkfall is close to release and beta every year if you listen to what the developers say. Every year they have a stable client that is ready for beta and every year it never happens. There has to be a reason for that and I'm thinking it's because they are pulling your and my leg. They are either not as competent as they claim to be and can't program a VCR, or quite simply the game does not exist in a playable state.

There really isn't anything that can be said that will change your mind, or anyone else's for that matter. The best I can do is to explain why I believe this person called Asp. First off, for me it's not even who he is that gives him credibility, it's his association with LoD.
When I played pre-trammel UO on the Baja server, I was unfortunate enough to run into LoD many times. They were brutal, ruthless, and the most skilled PvPers I ever came across during my time on UO.
Then came Shadowbane. Through a matter of chance, I ended up on the same server as LoD. Again, they quickly became known for their ruthlessness and being among the best PvPers on the server. Their policy that everyone not in their Nation was an enemy pissed off a lot of people. They gained control over a large portion of the map and it eventually became LoD vs the rest of the server. Everyone banded together to try and fight back but despite most of the time being horribly outnumbered, LoD prevailed more often than not.
To me it's not just some random guild coming out and claiming random shit. They were a major factor in two of the best PvP games that ever existed. Over the years I have had a ton of fun getting killed by and killing with this group of people. They are players, just like me, with similar play styles and taste in games. They have been major factors in 2 of the best PvP MMORPGs to ever come out (only other good ones i can think of is DAoC and AC: Darktide). Also, the majority of the active fanbase for Darkfall is from old UO/Shadowbane. It makes sense to allow someone with deep roots in those communities to write up a report.
But none of this really means anything. It could have all been made up. It could all be true and the game will still never release. It could all be true and the game could be everything it's made out to be. No one knows. I still play other games. If AoC or WAR comes out before Darkfall, I will try them even though neither game matches what I'm looking for in a PvP MMO as much as Darkfall does.

Is LoD making darkfall? Is Asp making Darkfall? Does Asp have anything to show other than his word that he has seen and played Darkfall? Then Asp and LoD have no credibility as far as Darkfall is concerned at this point. So, when all is said and done at this point in time concerning Darkfall, LoD and Asp are nobodies. By the way, did you notice the part where I said "SO TO ME, they're a no-name guild."?

As far as acting superior, who says I'm acting?
That is exactly why their considered credible sources. An apparently long standing guild and a long time member has played the game with which has quite a reputation from what I've read which begins back to UO. Whether you've heard of him is really irrelevant since he IS known and trusted by other guilds.
Also did that make much sense? I mean if they were making the game then they'd be devs and isn't anything new.
Though lets pretend that he did lie and what did he gain? Nothing but his 15 mins of fame. If you want to challenge his credibility then by all means do but don't base it on "I've never heard of him so...".
Edit: Does that change my sentence at all? Your still acting arrogant with the backing "Since I've never heard of them in my mind thier nobodies." and honestly that isnt a very strong backing. i.e In my mind the world is full of candy cane forests, gumdrop walkways, and chocolate milk lake but that doesnt quite mean it is.

I've never heard of LoD and I've never heard of Asp outside of his article about DF. He is not a credible part of the media, he does not work for a gaming magazine, he does not work for gaming telivision, he does not work for a gaming website. All he is is the leader of a guild that SOME people have heard of is some OTHER games that are not DF. I don't trust his word, especially since his article came with 0 in game screen shots.
You cannot change my opinion, and I'm sure you can't change Zorvan's. Just because you've somehow heard of LoD, and trust them does not mean the rest of us have to. Also, you will NEVER make me listen to you by insulting everything I say and condescending to me in every stupid topic here...all that does is make me ignore your posts when I see your name.

He's actually not the leader but just a long time member.
Also, your so called credible sources that belong to media/gaming magazines/gaming tv/gaming sites are no more credible in my eyes. Those services are run by money. Money comes from advertisements and sponsors. The people buying the advertisements are the companies that are making the games which the service reports on. There is a direct conflict of interest here. The gamespot incident shed some major light on this. Also, how many of these gave Hellgate London favorable reviews when in reality that game was just plain horrible. I'm sure the fact that the sites were plastered with advertisements of the game had nothing to do with it.

Sooner or Later
Beta - Dunno
Release - Dunno
There is no other game like this in development. So I can wait. I'll play other games while waiting.

The Sceptics, yes they're special but we've need them to.. I guess.
And if they're put more effort MMORPG.com can create a 'Team Sceptic'
and send them to the Special Olympus.

Fair enough. That was a well thought reply.
If you think LoD is a no-name guild then you've been playing the wrong games.

Do it.

Take the Hecatomb? TCG What Is Your Doom? quiz.
PS: Sorry for the long post.

I only act like that to those who feel the need to act superior to others. I'll be honest I've heard a lot more of them than of you so perhaps you should take a look at the second part of the statement.
