Beta was played on a 2month old client, and even if it was played on the actual client they have 1month to improve some stuff. If this game launches tomorrow, It will be NOWHERE near VG launch. The question isnt if this game is going to flop, It's wether it will be acceptable, good, or excellent.
Here is a newsflash beta is played on the actual version and I mean general not setup Tect test which is was the same as the pvp weekend. There is nothing they can change and improve now till rlease, bacuse you know why? ITS GONE GOLD.
FYI - In a MMO, going gold means that is the version that will be burned on the discs. It is not the version you will play on release because there will be patches.I haven't played AoC yet so I have no idea whether it's good or bad. But, don't get hung up on "It's gone gold".

Sorry to hear you canceled your preorder because you didn't like beta. I will keep my preorder because the opinion I think we both care about most is our own.
That being said my opinion is you should buy another preorder as soon as possible! that is just my opinion though.

LOL @ telling Avery to get a clue. He just posted a link from the guy who made the game saying they will be in at launch. This isn't some information from months ago, it was posted during this past weekend. Your beta information and threads are overruled by the guy who made the game. I guess if the dev puts out a statement that says a feature will be in the game, we are fanbois if we take his word for it? 90% of the people on this thread who are bashing this game are basing their conclusions on misinformation and and an obvious bias for a rival game by looking at their post history.

After browsing this thread and read the posts, I notice all the talk about general beta, tech beta and the PVP Weekend beta..
And to stir up some heat, I am rather sure that the press release from FUNCOM was talking about the PVP event describing that event as "running on a stripped client" with only limited portions of the game available..That could add up with the 15gb client..This was done to ease the download size and make the even as less painful as possible..
I have the GB client on my Harddrive, you know what size it is ? It's 33gb !!! and even thou 5gb of those 33 is prepatch files we had to download to get an update...And if you look at the requirements for the game it's 30gb FREE HD space..So, this can't be an NDA breeach as you can see this in the req's for the game
In conclusion, the PVP event was running on another client or atleast a severly stripped version of the client..

I had a great pvp beta weekend..really sweet...
Ive been playing to Ultima Online, runescape, EQ1, Daoc, Lord of the ring online, fiesta,
and i had a blast playing this week end
do not forget this was all about pvp mini games..
no open world pvp or pve at all except for the tortage island part
im anxious, pre ordered the game today
People talk shit about it for many reasons. They could just not like the idea of the game, played it and hated it, who knows. I myself cancelled my pre order after i played the pvp weekend. Not saying the game is crap just thought i would wait to see if i can get a key or a trial comes out to get more excited about it. To me the pvp weekend was bland and i got bored fast. Please remember it s how i felt not on what some are saying.

i got bored with the pvp mini games but I it was always the same thing.. small pvp games..small maps.. you knew exactly where there was gonna be a fight..or where your ennemies were waiting for you
I think it will be different in a open world.. where you change zones..hunt mobs.. gain xp work on your feats..etc..more things to do I too
pvp beta weekend for me was more like a preview of aoc

Lol i m not that dumb. Of course i know it was a preview to the game. That said what i did play was so so. Hence why i ll wait for after release not get the CE and hope for a trial or key. If you like the game good for you
I hope it does well but i want to see more before i buy and over the last few eeks i ve done a ton of research and liked what i saw. I just feel it s not enough and feel the game needs to have alot more info out there first. Please don t say it s there go look for it, i ve tried:) Just go read some posts on WAR, stealth this, graphics needing to be better the lists goes on. Almost everytime a posts comes up Mark comes on and posts a response in some facet. I want to see more of that in this game. Maybe it s there i just can t find it.

No offense but Ive been keepin track of this game through this website and have yet to read any post from Avery that sounds like b.s. or that contradicts himself. So if I were you, I would stop now while you only look like a bit of a tard instead of a full blown downs syndrom baby.
AO..thanks for taking the time to post that extensive report.I have not had a chance to play the game in any way shape or form,I have in the past been very excited about the game and would have preordered.Like the Op...I will not until I am sold on having a positive game experience.I am drawn to AOC for the battle keep fighting.Nothing I have seen answers my concern about that.So...I'll keep looking until I find that seige warfare game...be it AOC..or whatever.

My main concern is the lag/hitching...I experienced that in Vanguard and it totally ruins game play. That should be priority #1 imo. You can have lots of eye candy and features, but if you cant enjoy it for lag and hitching then what good is it? Minor bugs and balancing can be fixed....with a few decent patches and effort.
But, it's beta so that is fairly normal most of the time....time will tell...
Avery knows exactly what he is talking about when he speaks of this game, if he says you are misinformed chances are that you are misinformed, and from what I can see the person arguing with him is wrong in so many ways.

Second hand information from a source that could have all sorts of retarded biases on either side isn't worth the few kb's it takes up on the internet. Form your own opinions based on your own research instead of relying on someone else. I looked up that dev post myself, the dev said that spellweaving/seige is in. He could be lying, but a dev is a hell of a lot better to listen to than some random internet f$%^tard.

Don´t know whats always up with ppls defending a game, I mean when it´s good I will play and if not I won´t just that simple. But some ppl act like they are the game makers itself ..... I really hope this game will be good cause I need something new but if it´s not I dont need to defend the game and their makers and will just simply move on to the next new MMO until I find something good.
Conclusion, all fanbois and haters can die in a fire cause I dont give a shit on their opinions. Good review from the OP IMO cause he told about HIS positive and negative points.
