Besides, Forums are the place where people show their ugliest sides anyway in case you haven#t noticed before. The anonymity of the Internet makes them forget about social guidelines and morals and just shows what kind of people they -really- are. That holds true for any Forum by the way.

There is NO comparing the crowds of WOW or AOC to EVE. EVE by far has the most mature adult player base (on average) then any other MMO. The learning curve asures that.
Sexual harassment is a world different then the cut throat hardcore in game PVP of EVE.
I agree nudity in AOC is helping to draw a bad crowd. Even the devs sound like pervs when they talk about it. They lied when they said it was just to be honest to the books. Thats a bunch of bull.
@OP: Not exactly sure what this thread is supposed to show. Thousands upon thousands of threads have been created from all games and genres and ratings that are not the most pleasant. There will always be this type of community in a game. I'm not saying nothing should be done about them, but as you can see, moderators were taking care of a good majority of the tasteless replies. But they couldn't block every single one that mashed into that single thread.
It's like every game. Sure, a good amount of bad apples can be moderated and taken care of, but not everyone. Do you honestly expect a perfect community from a game? Yeah, the thread you show is beyond one of my top to list of sickening, but trust me, there are plenty more, and for every other genre and game. Just because the game is rated "M" and is from a writer in the 1930s is not a fair justification to say it will attract the type of people you suggest. It's like saying a good portion of WoW players are into beastiality just because you can play a character as a cow. It's an unfair characterization.
If I wanted I could easily search up for you, within 5 minutes mind you, a thread from WoW, EQ, or any game you wished that was much more sickening than what you are showing. These are the kinds of things that AoC will solve. There are hundreds of discussions in forums that can't be solved by simply negotiating, this is why we need wars. We can solve these pointless arguments by killing each other in wars. Its the same reason why there are wars in real life. Wars succeed where negotiations fail. Hard to believe some people consider the thread a big "sexist" deal over there. Even harder to believe the OP considered it so sexist as to bring it over here. It does indeed seem like a cheap way to bash AOC.
I skipped around the pages over there and read numerous replies that started with, "I see your point, but...." If someone wants to say the AOC content is sexist, fine, but there's a whole lot of pretty serious discussion as well as joking over-the-top fun in that thread. I can understand if replies didn't take that thread's OP too seriously because even female posters were saying how it's not a big deal.
It's a forum about A GAME. Of course people might tend to have some fun with and exaggerate their replies. I think the second post there nailed the issue pretty well: "In the world of CONAN THE BARBARIAN the only thing that matters are huge traps, pecks, and bashing skulls in. You should know this." Anyone who can't see the humor in that post may need to level up their humor skill ranking.
If a person can't post with some machismo on a forum about a CONAN GAME, then where? That's part of what the game is about. Even the tough women in the Conan universe were macho trash-talkers.

I really believe this game is not geared to the GLBT crowd in all actuality...(ok...maybe the T or L crowd...ah hell...throw in the B crowd also)
But, from the 2 male gay members of my guild, they have expressed a huge disinterest in Conan...and it makes sense. The game is geared toward the macho crowd clearly, and the fact it tries to reenact the old Howard feel...I believe Funcom has it.
I of course would have no issue playing alongside any of the GLBT community...you just have to learn to ignore the immature, and actually see that a really good game is waiting here. Come in, join and make those immature bastards pay with your swords...

What is the world coming to that a person is seriously bashing a game for something like this. I swear people these days need to do something better with there time like, umm...... lobby congress to replace gas with hydrogen. At least that has something to do with the Real World.

First off, you seem like a nice enough guy, and I get that you have more gentile sensibilites and are not a "cave man" type person. All good.

The problem is that these are game forums. They just don't handle fine tuned discussion very well, in many cases the timbre of a statement can be misread, people do hide behind their anonymity and in some cases inflate their toughness/bravado because there is no one standing before them (imagine my surprise when I learned that a "tough guy" in another game I know is in reality [according to people who know him in real life] an ultra geek who is older and never dated before. So much for macho bravado).
So forums are just a very inelegant way to discuss things. If we got all the people in this thread together, we might find a lot of sheepish quiet, awkward geeks (except me of course, I'm a 6'4 hunk and I'm sure some sort of hero... )

Global warming is real but it is a natural thing, it happens with or without human intervention. The earths climates changes a lot ever since it was formed. Its just it takes thousands to millions of years to see any huge change. Just research the history of earth, it has its realy hot moments and realy cold moments.

Thats because the weather gets kind of screwy during changes and we are living in pretty much between the last and next phase of climate. The earth was a lot hotter during pre-historic times and way way before that it had a worse ice age than the one most people know about where only few micro-organisms could survive. Anyway you and will not be alive to see any major change.

I remember that quest n really didn't even look that much into it. OK so NPC was a prostitute, n using that skill to get you to do something for her. So do the dam quest n move onto the next? Big Friggen deal! Get a life.

Hard to believe some people consider the thread a big "sexist" deal over there. Even harder to believe the OP considered it so sexist as to bring it over here. It does indeed seem like a cheap way to bash AOC.
I skipped around the pages over there and read numerous replies that started with, "I see your point, but...." If someone wants to say the AOC content is sexist, fine, but there's a whole lot of pretty serious discussion as well as joking over-the-top fun in that thread. I can understand if replies didn't take that thread's OP too seriously because even female posters were saying how it's not a big deal.
It's a forum about A GAME. Of course people might tend to have some fun with and exaggerate their replies. I think the second post there nailed the issue pretty well: "In the world of CONAN THE BARBARIAN the only thing that matters are huge traps, pecks, and bashing skulls in. You should know this." Anyone who can't see the humor in that post may need to level up their humor skill ranking.
If a person can't post with some machismo on a forum about a CONAN GAME, then where? That's part of what the game is about. Even the tough women in the Conan universe were macho trash-talkers.

But, from the 2 male gay members of my guild, they have expressed a huge disinterest in Conan...and it makes sense. The game is geared toward the macho crowd clearly, and the fact it tries to reenact the old Howard feel...I believe Funcom has it.
I of course would have no issue playing alongside any of the GLBT community...you just have to learn to ignore the immature, and actually see that a really good game is waiting here. Come in, join and make those immature bastards pay with your swords...

First off, you seem like a nice enough guy, and I get that you have more gentile sensibilites and are not a "cave man" type person. All good.
But don't go pulling that B.S. You should know better and quite frankly if that is what you believe you (a) have larger issues at hand, (b) live in some small hick town where you have never met the hordes of gay men who act just as crassly, and (c) need to get some perspective.
Have you ever thought that the hordes of more polite men just don't hang out on those forums as they just have no use for them?
And as far as Conana goes, again, it is Conan. You say you think you know but the reality is you are in denial. The brutal world of conan doesn't make men act this way. Sorry. There are plenty of gentlemen who are interested in the Conan world for what it is. I'm pretty sure they are not catcalling women from their windows.
So, you need to either toughen up a bit or perhaps find a new game. I'm sorry that people act this way but I'm pretty sure that the general consensus is that humanity has never been acused of being overly polite. There are jerks everywhere. And quite frankly it's Funcom's fault for not policing those forums. Moderation can actually be a help.

Ok you are right. I apologize to all gentlemen, and I know they exist. It just makes me so furious to see such negative behavior take over. If it went against me, I would shrug it off, I am used to fight. But some are not, and it makes me always sick with anger to see it.

No worries, I appreciate your passion behind the concern. And in any case, I'm a forgive and forget guy about many things.
The problem is that these are game forums. They just don't handle fine tuned discussion very well, in many cases the timbre of a statement can be misread, people do hide behind their anonymity and in some cases inflate their toughness/bravado because there is no one standing before them (imagine my surprise when I learned that a "tough guy" in another game I know is in reality [according to people who know him in real life] an ultra geek who is older and never dated before. So much for macho bravado).
So forums are just a very inelegant way to discuss things. If we got all the people in this thread together, we might find a lot of sheepish quiet, awkward geeks (except me of course, I'm a 6'4 hunk and I'm sure some sort of hero...

Global warming is real but it is a natural thing, it happens with or without human intervention. The earths climates changes a lot ever since it was formed. Its just it takes thousands to millions of years to see any huge change. Just research the history of earth, it has its realy hot moments and realy cold moments.

And it's not caused by humans, which is why I laugh when all these people are running around like headless chickens punishing themselves because they think they're destroying the planet.

Thats because the weather gets kind of screwy during changes and we are living in pretty much between the last and next phase of climate. The earth was a lot hotter during pre-historic times and way way before that it had a worse ice age than the one most people know about where only few micro-organisms could survive. Anyway you and will not be alive to see any major change.And sorry for being off topic.
