reported my own post and trying to get thread deleted.  I didn't want this to become a flame/trash war, about the game I love.  Anyone know how to cancel account with mmorpg too?

let me get this straight....the OP leveled TWO characters to 80 in a week??

Something smells funny here, and it's not my breath...

80 solo? geez.  what is the /played time?

edit: on the other hand, OP's first post....

but yes, if you played "non-stop" since launch.... a guildie of mine is playing a lot, but not crazily, he got pretty quickly to the 40s. I am slow, was gone during launch, but am in mid 20s, which for me seems pretty fast (comparing also to speed I had in beta).

so smooth start and all, yes, but lot's of bugs..... sigh. what else to say.

let's see if the 400k subs last after the first month......

I do agree with some of your findings, but I did not see as many bugs as you have said. But I do notice the mega lag spikes. I have a good machine (Pretty much the same as your except without the SLI) and I get 1-10 FPS for like 3-5 Seconds, but my game has never crashed.

But the classes as well as the PvP is unbalanced at the moment, cause atm you a lvl 80 could come up to me a lvl 20 and dominate me.

But maybe the reason I havent seen alot of bugs is that I havent gotten super far yet.

Not only that he leveled two characters to 80 so soon but he barely has any mmorpg experience!

I have played almost every game and still am under 20 LMAO

Umm I dont believe it... I say he has lvled one to maybe 50.

  • alakramalakram Member UncommonPosts: 2,301

Sorry but this is simply Not TRUE.

In europe only 1 player managed to level 1 character to 80.

And you come here saying you leveled 2? Muhahahahahaha!!!!

This is just Not TRUE. You failed as a troll.

  • I have two CE copies sitting on my shelf. I wanted to wait until things settled down with the fresh release before opening or activating my accounts. I just have to say that levelling two characters to level 80 in a week?!?!

Two characters to 80, and the game's been out a week?  And don't tell me you work 60 hours a week.

Yeah, might as well pack it in now...because if you ain't bored now, you will be shortly.

Don't get me wrong, it's an addicting, fun, and well thought out game.  It just has some serious flaws that I don't feel like dealing with anymore, and decided to return to playing another game until they fix it.
Here's my take on the game.
Fun factor: lets face it, the combat system for is what every MMO should follow.  It's fun.  While tedious, it's not to the point, where one mistake will = death.
Investing in a good gaming mouse with progammable keys is a MUST for playing this game well.  There are several features that will require you to click no matter what, so keeping the hands on the keyboard full time is impossible.
Click to play MMO's have been done and been overused.  In AOC you can really tell which player is paying attention and which player is not, because of the incoming damage they take/deal.  So you feel different from the average nub, and really stand out, if you can play well.
Collision, not being able to run through other people and monsters can really make for realistic game play.  On the other hand it has it's major flaws.  If a few idiots decide to be idiots... Well it can be rather annoying, and HORRID in raids if they decide to go AFK mid-battle.

    Graphics:
Simply beautiful, and hard to beat.
    Enough said.
    Unfun factor:

    BUGS BUGS BUGS BUGS BUGS

OMG they are crawling all over the place after I hit 80.

Well, they started with the fields of the dead which you MUST go to, if you want to quest around 40-50

I run a system spec of

    Quad core

    Graphics card: 8800GT SLI

Ram: 4GB (recently upgraded to 8, but it made zero difference)

    OS:Vista

    internet connection: DSL
And I drop to 30 fps in fotd, that's workable, then suddenly I get spikes of 1-10fps, every 2-3mins that just won't go away.  Ok, I've been through laggy games before.  Then, crash! Zone in? Crash!
Considering how stable and wonderful the beginning zones are from 1-40, this makes me sad.  It's gotten better with recent updates, but still I can't get rid of it.  In some higher zones it becomes even worse than fotd.
I tried the stutter fix with the shaders, but it's still there, so I'm at a loss on how to fix the issue.  It seems to effect people randomly regardless of their system spec.  Some days it's not even there at all, other days, it's just so bad, you can't play.
Not sure what's causing it since the latency is usually around 100ms.  The bar is green.
I recommend not messing around with new systems, until someone has tested them, and regarded them safe.  A guild member that was crafting heavily, managed to make several items that crash him upon playing with it.  No matter what he does, he crashes when he plays with these gems.
So far, alchemy didn't turn out to be as useful as I thought for healers since most don't need mana pots.  Stamina/HP> mana
I can't comment on alot of the crafting since,

a)the traders are not in(oh seems like they put them in last night so I'm going to recheck the game)

    b) what little crafting I did, the recipes went poof after a bit.  I bugged it, but no reply yet.  Supposedly a fix rolled in, but last I checked they weren't there still.
It's not a bug, well, I guess it is.  Many confirmation dialogs WHICH should be there, or are there, but do not work.  Like you're supposed to confirm before traveling, for some reason, it doesn't and skips sometimes.  So many people quit guild by accident because it's not there.  Selling/dropping expensive or valuable items etc.

And don't bother messaging the GMs if you lose something due to a bug.  Guild member lost their mount in a crash.
    MISSING ASPECTS:

Many of the PVP group/raid aspects are missing from the game still.  Especially those involving guild/crafting.
Travel system. When the best/fastest way to travel around is by dieing...
Grouping.  Many of the group features are not working as intended or not there.

    CLASS BALANCE:

    This one, is seriously unbalanced.

It seems that funcom took the advice of screaming nubs that says one class is over/underpowered to another and tweaked them too high or too low.
So, you have a few classes that cannot kill monsters 5+ levels, while you have some classes that can, making serious balance issues.
Some skills are also seriously unbalanced.

Top 2 on my brain is the idol by TOS and the rez feat by conquerers.

They fixed the POM spell to dot, so that's no longer a class breaking feature.
mana vs stamina consumption needs to be fixed on the high end.  It's balanced on the lower levels between classes.  The higher levels goes way out of porportion.  Lets just say, it's highly silly to have a class consumption bar, that can not run out, no matter what you do, while you have another, that will run out every 2-3 monsters.  Depends on the class, but still silly.  Every class should run out if they stress their bar.
Especially when your class depends on that bar for dmg output.
Um, some of the feats do things which aren't in the description, and some can be combined to do some, stuff that aren't written in the description, and I'm 99% sure is a bug, because it's unbalancing in pvp to the point of having an I-win button.  I don't want to write the ones that I found and haven't read on other forums, since I expect kids to abuse it.  I hope funcom reads bug reports though, and fixes them soon.
    Money:

VERY HARD TO MAKE at lower levels.  It picks up a bit at the higher levels though.  And some monsters which respawn like mad drop lots of money, but the others don't.  So I'm expecting that's a bug too.
ATM there's not much to spend money on, except a mount, which isn't really necessary.  The mounted combat is kind of buggy, and not effective.

    Instancing:
The little instancing I did, it felt like having a conq in each party was a must to combat rez every minute.  Healing in this game is not a must or a priority.  In fact, we did slightly better with more barbarians to chain stun/DPS for PVE, than we did with more healers.
Because you get a debuff which unables you to heal peoeple for x time, and it doesn't change at 80.  The best way to heal is through HOTS.  Which means, DPS/CC is FAR more important than healing period.
What little high end instancing I did involved, AE/Assist train.  Some of the issues though, LOS is screwy atm, so many monsters will shoot through the walls, making rangers/casters the worst kind to deal with.  The respawn times are extremely varid.  In some they won't respawn forever.  In others they respawn like every 3mins.
Also make sure you kill everything so they don't sneak back up on you.  Many stationary looking monsters, are actually pathers.
    LEVELING:

Now this is the retarded part of the game.  Once you have someone that is 80 in your guild.  The FASTEST way to level is simply by apprenticeship.   Since you still get the same xp as the 80 does in a group as a lvl 30, and the necessary cumulative xp to lvl is smaller at lvl 30, you will be dinging left and right.
There are also a few bugged quests which are repeatable that give 40k xp.  Abusing these methods, it took us only 4 days to get someone from 1-> 80, and we really didn't even try to do it.
Several zones have unending spawns making ae group killing a great way to level up also.
The problem is, this makes content trivial and boring.  You don't get to enjoy the lovely quests designed by the game.  And some are QUITE FUN!  But, many of them are bugged also and unable to complete.  The higher lvl you get, the more they exist.  Why risk doing a quest which you might not complete, when you could get to 80 by apprentice then grind?
There is absolutely no satisfaction for making it to 80.
I love the apprentice design from COH/COV.  I just think it was horribly implemented in AOC.  The best part about playing an MMO is the leveling, and instances, if you're a pve player and AOC managed to just shoot its foot there.
    Support:

    Non-existant.

A GM told our guild he did not have the tools to fix several major flaws in the guild system.  One involved unable to invite people, another involved the GM quitting the guild by accident.  Causing the entire group of people to restart the guild.
Several people who bought the retail version and could not get into EA, are still banned from the forums without reason.  Since they cannot view the forums they can get zero trouble shooting help.  Emailing to funcom gets the same letter to register, no matter what you type.
Several people in guild got stuck in various zone ins and areas and could not unstuck or teleport out.  Calling GM's did not fix the issues since they did not have the TOOLS to save our members.  We have one character that's still stuck after a week.  The player gave up on the character and restarted, since it's easy to level up to 80.
    Overall gameplay feel:

I felt like I was playing a beta version of the game.

It's fun, addicting, and I know I will come back once they fix the game.
Until then I intend to spend my time doing more polished games.  I just had enough beating my head against a rock and falling on my face due to bugs.
    Mods:

get them.  You WILL need them to play unless you want to deal with vexing issues such as having your hotkeys suddenly unbind/disapear.
    Note:

I'm not a great gamer or computer wiz, I've only played wow/coh/lotro.
    Wish list:

Hopes funcom will bring the game out of beta feel, and polish it when I get back to it .  It's a good buy, I don't feel ripped, I just don't like beta testing a game that I'm paying for.  I will definately be back, once they fix the game to be half way decent.

Age of Conan game director Gaute Godager said at the launch event in Norway that reaching level 80 will take "on average 250 hours of gameplay," according to videogamer.com.

250 hours an estimation for avg for players - and it could be wrong

in the same way that Funcom "hopes" the endgame content will take 6 months to beat

Well from what he descrive I can easily see 2 level 80 in a week. Weren't character level transfering upon beta after all?

Plus if the apprenticeship system is really badly implemented as he say, that wouldn't make it hard to level the second character to 80 particularly with the AoE in endless spawning zone and quest giving 40k xp that you can repeat indefinitly. After all once you know it, a quest that first take 30 min to complete will take 10 after a while.

@ the 250 of Gameplay for level 80....

yea right, you can't estimate such a thing without playing the retail version and seeing the exploit players can find quite easily on retail...

no, we had to start over. And even knowing where to go, what to do, etc to level quickly, I still don't see how it's pissible to get two toons to 80 in a week without exploits.

I agree. There are three explanations

    1. He played 7 days straight without work or social life.

    2. He exploit the exploitable quests

    3. He's lying.

But I just wanted to say it is entirely possible. Im halfway there and I play 2 hours a day.

according to todays patch notes, the apprentice xp bug is being fixed (you'll get level appropriate xp, not higher level xp.)

and  i thought they fixed the bugged quest xp exploit, already (although maybe not, apparently)

Let's break this down.  This guy has 1 post, and is saying he got two toons to level 80 and is quitting until the game is fixed.

If he did make it to 80 with two toons he cheated.  Plain and simple.  There is no way to do it without cheating or exploiting.  Yes there are many 50's already but the developers have already said that all the way through 60 the levels should come fairly quick.

So either he is a troll, or he cheated to get two toons to 80 and is saying that he is quitting until Funcom fixes the game.  If he really cares about the game being fixed then he would admit to cheating and give Funcom the information it needed to fix the exploits and hacks.  If he is just lying to troll then gg.  You fit in well with the majority of these forums these days.

Either way you lose though.  Either you are a troll, or a cheater/exploiter.  Convince me of why I should read anything that comes from you?

  • ArtarylArtaryl Member Posts: 66

Well he did said he exploit. Simply by using the 40k quest over and over. And grinding in endless spawning zone with Area of Effect is usually quite a fast way to level up.

Now I don,t know which level you are but put that he played 3 times as much as you played in the first week, knowing quite well what to do because he could have been in closed beta and know it. Let's just suppose there. Make it that pass level 30 it's actually easier to level up since he seems to say so. If you put that you are for exemple level 20 and he played 3 times more then that does make it possible to reach level 80 in less then a week. Add the apprenticeship on the other character which make him gain xp faster and I believe you have a formula to level 2 character and it surely does involve exploits.
