What should it matter to you anyways? If you dont like the game, just bail and you wont have to put up with the ppl that are enjoying the game now including the advertisers.

I dont think it blows, its fun. So whos right?

SignusM because GreenChaos (and probably you) consider the possibilty that the OP was actually playing AoC and has just created account here to share his slightly negative outlook on the game.

People should have reason to dislike a game when it doesn't deliver any of its major promises. I remember at one point they were even thinking of cutting mounted combat. That's in, isn't it?

As of now we don't have player cities, sieges, brawling in bars, full crafting, spell weaving, and a few other things someone has brought up but I'm sure I've forgotten.

Those were the main features of the game. The only thing they delivered on was boobs and combat. And even the combat is skimped from the original 8 directions to 3. Pretty poor.

I really don't want to get into arguments again but I had to call a halt here.

Player Cities are in. There are several on my Server at least, so unless all those guilds claiming to have them are lying....*shrugs*

Sieges. No one even knows that yet. There was a bug preventing the upgrading. That hasn't been brought up for a long while now. Even then, Most people would not have been ready to siege yet anyway (read, meet all the preqequisites to actually GET a Battlekeep).

Brawling in bars, confirm. That's not in.

Full crafting. What is -Full- crafting? I know people are craftin. I also know there were some issues with it. Several of which have been fixed as far as I am aware.

Spellweaving was taken out for some of the classes, not for all of them, and that's only because there was a bug in it. As far as I know two classes still -have- spellweaving, the others will be reintroduced once they are fixed.

Just to keep you up to date.

Edit: Oh, the combat. Whenever did we have 8 directions promised? Could be I missed that. Anyway, it's 5 directions, not 3. Cheers!

Before they went into closed beta. Then all the large WoW raiding clans that got in (IE, morons) got into closed beta and they thought it was too hard. So it got reduced to 6 directions. Then that got chopped down to 3. (only 5 if you're a fighter, at a higher level)

Aye there's a thread in the ATI boards as well but it just links you to the meat of the discussion at the official AoC boards.  The talk is something about the game not being detected as a 3d app and the card staying at a 300 Mhz clock.  Something to do with the bios of the cards possibly.

I disagree.  I think one should just list what they like about the game and what they dislike.  I think it's an insult to others to bring on the impression you're thinking for someone.  People can make that decision on their own if they can read a board or play games.

For me I saw the game in action and tried it out.  I have balanced the pros and cons while playing and made the decision myself to currently stay.  Words have little effect for me in decisions but actions do so carry so much weight.

Reminiscent of BioShock, sorry. Its not my problem, its their problem.

Nice try. If its my opinion that people should wait to buy the game, thats exactly what I am going to say. I'm not thinking for them, I'm giving them my personal advice as a current player of the game.

    It's paid advertising

You need a product to advertise something, no where in his post does it say AoC sucks because ... you should play WAR instead. Or come back to EQ2 for Living Legacy event, the shit you see posted all over mmorpg.com right now because mmorpg.com is blood sucking leeches that will take a pile of money in every direction.

"Funcom's immediate goal is to finish developing the game WHILE making a profit...that is why the game was released even though the game is not fully developed yet."

The game is fun, but it is far far and away from being finished, we are paying to beta test it seems. And atm this sums things up nicely.

Might as well report me too then. I was in the OB and canceled my pre-order because of my experience. It felt more like an Alpha, or very early beta than release code.

The game is fun, even with missing features.

However, Funcom did release another mmo years ago that was not finished, a little project called Anarchy Online. The launch of Age of Conan seems to have gone off much more successfully than Anarchy Online, but I suspect, subscription wise, it will follow suit.

Topic starter mentions a lot of thing supposedly wrong with the game, mentioning that there might be more issues, only less significant ones. I have to say that i think you've forgotten a major issue and i guess it's because you're not one of those unlucky ones it has affected.

That being all the people who have paid to play the game, but are currently unable to. My husband and i, and i know that so many others have expirienced the exact same thing, preordered  and paid for the game, only to never recieve it from Funcom. As so many others, we've been trying to contact Funcom for more than a week now. There's no means to get in touch with them by phone. Only option is to contact their costumer support by email, which is then never replied to. All very convinient, just not for the customers! The only ones we've recieved a reply from, is Asknet's support, but the absolute only thing they're able to help us with, is to cancel our order, which is not what we're interested in. We only want to be able to play the game that we've paid for, but are unable to, since we can't upgrade our accounts, as in order to do that, we need the retailkeys on the retailboxes that we never got.

Yes, there's also a lot of bugs and other issues with the game. A lot of quests, tradeskills etc. are bugged, but as annoying as that might be, unfortunately that is what you'd have to expect at the launch of any mmo and i'm personally not going to be the one to complain much about that. I've been looking forward to AoC for so long and i still wish to give it a chance (if at some point i'll be able to access the game again that is), as i think it has high potential and could make an awesome and very fun game.

What i can't comprehend though, is the way Funcom has choosen to handle this. Their customer support is litterally non exsistent and the way they've apparently choosen to go about this, is to flat out ignore anyone contacting them about the issue. Out of all the people i know personally and all the people i've read about on numerous forums who has the same problem, i haven't heard of a single one, who has actually gotten a reply to their requests for help. Nor has Funcom made any official notes about the problem. It's like banging your head against a wall and that is what i think is absolutely and completely unacceptable! The problem with this industry is that they hold that kind of power over people, as we're desperate gamers that will endure anything in order to get our daily fix. In most all other situations, you would never put up with that kind of treatment as a paying customer.

I agree, they got one thing right and that was a decently smooth launch. They some how forgot that having an unfinished game is going to hurt them IE AO. They learned one mistake but not the other. I guess it is safe to say Funcom's next MMO will get it both right then if you look down the path of history.

It really sucks to cause AoC had so much promise, but Funcom is making it hard for current players that already reached mid-game and end-game a reason to stay subscribed.

No. I did cancel my pre-order for AoC and the reason was because I did not feel I wanted to spend my money and time beta-testing this (currently) pile of steaming fecal matter for the next who knows how long before it's "ready".

this game is pretty awsome compared to any mmo in its first two weeks.

i guess you have never been in a mmo from release date

That is quite unfortunate and I'm sorry to hear that. I've been hearing issues about customer service as well some records taking more than 3 days to solve problems for players and one player got stuck in a zone and took funcom a week to get to him and port him out of there. Gah that had to suck.

The problem is you can't march in and demand satisfaction. What I mean is it isn't retail, so you can't march in like Home Depot and demand satisfaction and compensation for the troubles that incurred. Funcom basically gets away with murder, as well as all other Internet related companies. It sucks but they are legally able to do business this way until a large group of people have consumer affairs look into it.

Actually, I have. EQ, EQ2, SWG, LotRO, AC2, PotBS.

And I've beta tested a number of games. In addition to the ones listed above; E&B, CoH, WoW, and a number of non-MMO games. I've been playing MMO's since Kingdom of Drakar was new (early 90's), and gaming far longer.

So are we done flexing our e-peens?

In my opinion, AoC is not worthy of my money at this time. At some point in the future it may be.

I think part of the problem here is that FunCom is in Norway or something. It isn't British, Irish, or American, and hell their login screen isn't exactly perfect english. This may sound bad, but from now on I'm sticking with companies based closer to home.

    Gazentia:

Funcom is a norwegian company yes. I personally reside in Denmark though (being Norways neighbour), so i find it hard to believe that it is geographically challenges that they're facing here.

Interesting, I hadn't seen that quote before.  You'd have to be the greenest of greens in THIS industry to not have at least heard of a "Korean Grinder".  Naturally, Funcom have been around this block a few times...so I'm positive THEY as a whole are far more familiar with the subject matter.  I'm guessing this guy was just an intern...or something.  Tell me he wasn't a designer, or something similarly important.
