Hmm, this info is a bit dubious. I mean, shipped boxes? Who cares about shipped boxes? SOLD boxes are $$$, shipped boxes is just an added cost for them, unless they sell it. The way they fed us that story seems to indicate they want us to believe their game is very successful. The way they blurred factual data indicates that they are having problems there. After all, its not about shipped product, its about sold product. Anyone has any data on relevant info? As in sold boxes or current active subs?
if ur some kind of conspiracy theorist i am sure there is data on it, but there have been large scale announcements on the likes of IGN.com ect yada yada, about 400k copies "sold" first week, 500k on updated total about 4 or 5 days ago. Its (Said) to be the fastest selling MMO next to WoW. Ill update with the article that states off of facts AOC being faster selling than bignames like WoW, COD4, and other bigname franchise... HERE YOU GO. http://pc.ign.com/articles/878/878987p1.html --- http://pc.ign.com/articles/876/876591p1.html-- and there is another one i didnt feel like linking out of laziness something about AOC outselling GTA4 in germany. Sometimes you just half to look up the info yourself, but isnt it nice when you dont half to worry about looking like a fool?
the reason why Funcom is faster selling than WOW on release is because WOW did not launch in Europe until 3 months later in 2/11/2005
if you compare AOC North America and Europe vs WOW North America -- on 1st impressions it seems larger until you realize those numbers do not include WOW Europe
its not a beauty pagent, its almost like everything HAS to have a reason. its almost like this is all some conspiracy and AOC is in fact doing terribly bad because WoW waited to sell in europe. Meh doesnt matter, but you should also take into the accout of the ESRB rating, while WoW was open minded to every days joes, hardcore gamers, and 9 yr olds, AOC is strictly MA, sure that wont stop kids from getting ahold of it, but it will surely reduce there parents from buying it for them on there birthday or being all for them playing a game with tits and decapitations. Overall its just a fact that there will be less 9yr olds on this game than WoW, but i still really want to find a census on that.
Haha, shipped..... They just love putting a new spin on things dont they.
I would assume this is good because before hand, the game was selling too fast and they did not have enough product, so seeing how over 500,000 consumers have baught the game, they decided to ship another 500,000 boxes in hopes that over time, another 500,000 will sell, its quite a risky investment, seeing as it costs lots to ship those games. You make it sound like some publicity stunt thought, its just money, just money $$$

This game will not grow, I do not need a crystal ball to see this, it is common sense. This game is going down down down not up up up. I don't need god to come down from heaven and write up a statistics report for me to know how this games future will unfold, I have been in the genre long enough to know.
Wow, can I have tomorrow's lottery numbers too while you're at it?
Just cause you've played a few mmorpgs, doesn't make you Nostradamus.

THIS JUST IN!
Funcom has bought up the paper to print 500k more instruction manuals!!!!! You know what means right? Obviously they have sold 1.5million copies already!!! Rofl.
Anything that sells. It is the same way with WoW though and any MMo. You highlight the great points of the game. If you look at WoW prior to BC North America had over 3.5million subscribers. It is now down to around 2 million, but the Chinese market has picked up the American slack in accounts due free accounts and to the cheap 2 pennies per hour fees.
You can spin numbers and stuff anyway you want, and it is what they don't tell you that you have to explore like AoC shipping 1million units, but how many have sold? Probly around 500k (Decent release over the US and UK, but not groundbreaking as it has had more hype than any other MMo for the past 2 years next to WAR which isn't released yet).

Actually EA Mythic have consistantly announced their beta numbers several times now officially, you will see from history that AoC has talked numbers 4 times in the past year. FC dont badger you with numbers like a cold caller.
Its a news release it states pretty clearly that its "shipped" units. Pretty straight forward, now I can understand about warhammer fans getting a little 'testy' because they have nothing to play right now, there is no need to be jaded and negative just like TheSheikh.
I mean seriously, they are well within their rights to say what they are doing as a business.
Units sold is a "little" better measure, but after 30 days, the landscape will change dramatically.
The higher you rise, the harder you fall.
Alas, congratulation Funcom on 1000000 unhappy customers ... let see if they manage to convert 10% into subscriptions
You know whats funny? Before you started on your AoC "I hate em" Rampage, I acutally thought you were an intelligent person, who made intelligent pots on these forums. Over the past couple of months though you have turned into nothing more than a snobby troll, who lurks around and has no need for making intelligent choices anymore.
Reconsider the path your on lobo, you actually used to be alright,
Nadia please do not take this the wrong way, but if you have been hopping around the net to find out the general census of what people are doing in regards to AoC. The sub count is dropping, and it is dropping very fast.
If the MMORPG.com forums and other forums were any actual indication, WoW would have lost 80% of it's subscribers in the first month.
Clearly, that isn't the case what so ever. But the way these and other forums were at the time, (especially the main forums,) do to server issues and what not, nearly everyone was leaving because of the problems.
If instead of listening to WAR fanbois (battlekruse, and others,) you actually played the game. You'd see the population is actually growing, and quite significantly. There most certainly are a HELL of a lot more people on my server then there were just a week ago - Wiccana.
Some folks just want to see 'their games' competition fail utterly. Unfortunately for them, AoC is a success. Thats not to say it's not without it's problems. Thankfully many have already been dealt with and even more are slated to be improved an fixed over the next month or so. But it's not the over-hyped trash and bomb that some folks who troll here have been trying to push practically since it was announced.

Lobo is fine, I agree with what he said as do many many many others.
Lobo don't listen to jive your still spitting out intelligent thought, AoC lovers just do not like what you have to say is all.

Let me guess.. you bought the game on a whim, expecting the game to suck because it's competition for 'your' MMOG, and played for 5 minutes and left in a pre-determined disgust. Right?
Listen, no one can expect that everyone will love the game. But when a game hits a milestone like this and well known trolls and WAR fanboi's start posting that it doesn't mean jack squat, you know they are biased.
If you gave the game a chance and still really hated it, then I hope you find an MMOG you can call 'home.' But don't presume that everyone else feels remotely the same way, least of all the hundreds of thousands of folks in game having a ball.
Nope, followed it for almost a year, never got into beta, read "trolls" post for about 2 days in EA. Decided ok well I don't care let me make up my own mind. Played up to 42. Quit because it's a steamy pile of shit.
I wont go into the massive issues I found as personal issues to quit the game, they have been posted here on MMORPG now about 8000 times.
It's cool tho because I really don't care if people play this "game".
What I do care about is the AoC fans on this particular forum acting like people who play the game and detest it have no right to post their thoughts, no matter how many times they post it over and over.
They have just as much right to bash it over and over as all of you do to come in here and praise it day after day.
AOC has shipped a million copies. This is a positive thing
AOC has many people who enjoy playing. Yet another positive thing.
Many game reviews have given good reviews to the game. - Well, few of us trust their opinions, but it beats getting slammed hard so call it a positive.
AOC has many people decrying it and deciding not to sub. A negative thing.
We don't know how many people for sure will stick around for a few months. - Just a simple fact.
If many players decide to stick around and subscribe, and the numbers exceed 500K I think FC will decide to publish this fact. If the numbers are lower, I think they'll keep it quiet like Turbine did with LotRO. Just my opinion.

Well, hope my experience about numbers isn't reflective of the game as a whole as I would love to see it succede.
Of the 12 ppl I joined with (Played MMO's together for years):
2 have allready cancelled vowing never to return.
5 have cancelled but will try again in 6 months.
3(myself included) are giving Funcom until the day before the first payment kicks in to turn things around
and 1 is hooked
Oh and between us we have brought 16 copies, as 4 went out and brought standard version after the CE problems.
So from my group at least, thats 16 units sold, 1-4 subs being paid at the end of the month.
Guess they will be reporting units sold in our case
