Just read this article and watch the 5 new video's that come with it in HD.(640x480) and you know why Warhammer will rock.
http://pc.ign.com/articles/883/883295p1.html
Now we can all rest reasured, warhammers video quallity will be on the same level as the gameplay. This game will be the winner of 2008.
None can complain anymore about the graphics quallity. It only keeps me wondering at what cost this will come, what system will be needed to play the game with 100 characters in PvP battle.

We also got months left for the spit 'n shine, so if it looks good now...it'll be even better when it releases. The one thing I hope for is slightly less choppy animations...I know, I haven't played it, and when I do I think it won't matter because I'll be having fun. But from just watching it that's one thing that bugs the back of my mind.
--------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Order of the White Border.
Hopefully they won't "cut back" the size of PvP battles like Funcom did.
Im with you on this one, it bugs me too. But, im sure they'll fix once the game goes gold...no problem.
Plus, did anybody saw those mounted npcs fightning from mounts???!!! Awesome! Will there be mounted combat on release?
IGN gave AoC 8/10 in their review. Enough said.
Annimations are most of the time the last thing optimised before release... I would not worry to much ...

I'm pretty skeptical about game review sites since AoC, but fingers crossed I hope this game rocks.
O_o o_O
Those videos confirmed that this game is a WoW clone. Not trying to be a dick or anything but: the map/radar is in the top right portion of the screen, the player's energy bars are at the top left, the enemy's energy bar is right beside it to the right, the abilities are in a toolbar at the bottom center portion of the screen, and the chat window is on the bottom left...like WoW.
When the Chaos guy goes to destroy some building, he literally kneels down, a timer bar appears on the screen, fills to the right and then the building explodes. Minus the building exploding, this is just like WoW.
The proportioning of the characters even looks identical. The aesthetics are like a slightly upgraded WoW.
The huge "TARGET IS DEAD" message that pops up on the screen makes this game seem like it is going to be even more easy mode than WoW is.
Sigh...I...I just don't know what to do anymore...

Yes, the UI is very similar so I suppose that this is a WoW clone. This follows quite logically from the fact that computer games are quite obviously 100% UI. There is nothing else in computer games except UI. There is no gameplay, no lore, combat is completely inconsequential, world structure in MMORPGs is all so much fluff. What really matters is the UI - the rest is just all so much smoke and mirrors to cover up the only thing that is of any consequence - the UI.
For example, I see no difference whatsoever between Quake and Call of Duty 4 because their UI is almost identical. The energy bars, movement controls etc. These "two" are obviously the same game with slight, ultimately inconsequential variations in minor details such as graphics, story, content, gameplay, multiplayer modes and such.
WAR could have been a truly revolutionary game if they placed their minimap in the bottom-left corner of the screen, for example... Or maybe if they required you to paint symbols on the screen with your mouse in order to walk. Sadly this opportunity to truly revolutionize the genre with changes of some real import is missed yet again.
/sarcasm off
I'm sorry but I cannot go on with this stupidity, however I hope you've managed to get the oh not-so-subtle-point I tried to make.
I happen to think that one of the very very rare things WoW managed to do really well and which is probably THE major reason for its success is its UI. I have no problem whatsoever with WAR taking what works perfectly and concentrating on innovating things that really need improving in today's MMOs.
That "other" game's designers thought pretty much as you do - not seeing the game past its UI and graphics. So what do you have? A "revolutionary" UI and controls that are actually inferior to the established standard and broken pretty much everything else.
Get your priorities straight and learn to see past the top layer of graphics on your screen.
its looking good, and I have high hopes because I played daoc back when it was released, great times. But, im not going to expect the next mesias of a mmorpg, because then I wont be disapointed.
Great vids! I like the art direction with the game, and I am excited to try out some RVR.
The end of the article states, "Whether Warhammer Online can emulate Age of Conan's success has yet to be seen, but EA Mythic seems to be on the right track."
Great... ya, lets all hope that WAR is a buggy, unfinished mess when it comes out. No content past 20 would be fantastic. Oh, and the RvR content better only be 5% finished when the game is released. Give me a break.
This just shows me that IGN has no one that knows anything about MMO games working on their staff. Not that I trust any of their reviews, period.
IGN is like the Fox news of the gaming world.

Oh noes, not another ui clone. /lol
I bet alot of you will be back to these forums after playing war for 3 days and say something like...
this game is repetitive killing this and killing that for x reward, it takes no skill whatsoever ... its the worst mmo launch eva... it wont let me cancel my sub... im tired of seeing dwarves and elves.... cant believe they sold this many copies when the game was nowhere near ready for release....
and end it with... I should know since im with one of the best raid clans/guilds on the server and you cant refute that.
Old news ,this was posted yesterday?

Indeed very nice vids.
First videos that I really liked about this game .
Nice artwork and all.
Now its all up to the gameplay and a non buggy game for delivery.
I dislike people who go "its a wow clone" without knowledge - they look stupid and ignorant.
However - poeple who blindly defend something without knowledge - they also look stupid and ignorant.
I have played both and WAR is more like a wow 2, than a wow clone... but the similarities ingame are everywhere! It is more like wow than it isn't, but with some extras that you'd expect of any second coming. It includes all the natural progressions that you expect Blizzard would have included.
It is you who seems to be taking it at face value... you see a different race, a different story, some pvp advancements and you think its a completely different game.
I've played loads of mmos, name one and i've played it... i've never felt i was playing a preview of wow, or something that felt like wow 2. I do with WAR.
I loved wow, i love WAR... but lets not try to make it out to be something that it isn't, or deny it being what it is.
How bad will it rock with hot pink armor
The following statement is false
The previous statement is true
I agree. Other vids didn't really inspire me, but these make the game look like it will be fun to play.
Gameplay has to be good, and of course it won't be bug free, but there can't be gamestopping bugs. The other thing is features.
I don't expect the same features as a game that's been around for a couple of years, with expansions and what not, but it should release with all the features that make the game fun.
AoC seems to be designed to revolve around sieges, but then releases with no siege feature, which seems kinda strange. It would be like releasing DAoC, but without the RvR in place yet.
THATS EXACTLY WHAT MOST PEOPLE WILL SAY WHEN WAR IS RELEASED, DONT YOU GET TIRED OF THEM SOMETIMES.
I agree with your theory. But I would like to expand on it. WoW built on the foundation that EQ made & DAoC, AC, FFXI, & SB (and to a lesser extent, Planetside) expanded upon. WAR is just taking the next step in this progression.
We could probably include LOTRO, EQ2, Guild Wars, & now AoC in that list of game inspiration as well.
Technically, I see systems that worked well in each of these games expanded upon in WAR, much like WoW did with the games available during it's development cycle.
Personally, the game feels much more like DAoC 2.0.
"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."
Lets see you say AoC has no content past lvl 20?! and you have the gal to say IGN doesn't know anything?! Hahah Dude its obvious from your one statement you've never even played AoC to lvl 20 and gotten off tortage, or if you have your just plain lying so what is it? I have a lvl 34 and my quest journal has been full (some 50 some quests) ever since I left tortage (lvl 20) I never even had to go to Stygia and indeed have had to pass up so many quests in cimmeria its not even funny. (did most of my questing in wild lands)
So which is it are you just lying about AoC or have you really not even tried it? Either way it seems you could get a job at IGN
If your gonna flame AoC to try and make WAR look better go right ahead, but at least get your facts straight it will make you look like you know something rather then going with Hate thread by unknown poster 357. Yes AoC does have its short comings but not having content at lvl 20 is not one of them
And while I do expect to be flamed for pointing out this truth on a WAR forum, let me just say theres no law i know of that says you can't like more then one MMO. I'll play AoC till I get tired, and hell I'll even give WAR a try if its good, and I'll play it till i get tired. As unforgivable as it might sound if I find both fun I'll even play both. It doesn't have to be a either / or situation
PS Great vid BTW
Well the vid did not impress me.. atleast in the action I saw. Seems slow and PC's and NPC's did not seem to react when getting hit.. not even crit hits. I see this in WoW and epect that kind of feedback in WAR. Charcarters flinching, dodging, blocking etc.
Well anyway I have begun downloading the beta client again,.. not played since feburay.. lets see if the game has improved. and its worth beta testing the last few months.
Seems that you interpreted my post for what you wanted it to say, not what it actually said.
I wasn't talking about AoC. I was talking about WAR. In AoC quests (the major source of story, direction, content) run out roughly half way through the game. Wait until you get to 50-55, you will see what I mean. My statement of no content after 20, was based on the fact that WAR only has 40 levels, not 80. So this would be about half way through the game.
Also, I wasn't flaming AoC, I was flaming IGN for having a crappy staff. The things that I mentioned indirectly about AoC are facts. IGN simply took the raw box sales numbers of AoC and attributed those numbers to "success". If they had said financial success, or box sales, I would have had no problem with the article. But the fact that they simply stated "success" leads the uninformed reader to think that AoC had a successful launch, when it was anything but.
PS: I am currently playing AoC and having a lot of fun, but I am not playing with blinders on.

Excuse me.. but im curious... exactly how fast do you think you could swing a giant 200pound battle axe? lol i mean really. people running around in plate armor with giant weapons fighting at warp speed? that just seems silly imo.
and release is still some months off, im sure they will tweak the A.I. an animations a bit to make it a little more... eh.. "real"? or less real.. whatever keeps people happy...
