You are happy with your burger, and that is great. However, the rest of us would like the fries and shake that were supposed to be part of the meal we ordered. Therefore, we will bitch. They need to discount the fees: Crappy customer service: - $2.00 No bar fights: - $1.00 No blood money - $1.00 No dx10 - $2.00 Etc., etc., etc. Keep going until the price reflects the features left out. If they did that, they'd be selling the box for $20.00 and charging around $5.00/monthly. Then it might be worth it.
We have ordered fries and shake too with our burger meal, could only get the burger. We called the manager, and he said they are still cooking the fries and preparing the shake. They will deliver those when it is ready. They also apologized for any inconvenience for this.
We started eating our burgers, because we want to consume them when it's hot. However there is a problem. There is a fly in our burgers, which is very disgusting. Yes sir, that fly is YOU, and it's not the restaurant's fault.
p.s: Seriously, have you lately visited a fast food restaurant or semi-fast food restaurant? Do you get the exact same hamburger they advertise on the billboards? Did you ever have to wait in the drive-through because their credit card systems are not working or simply a fat kid is ordering 12 Big Macs for himself and his friends?
MMOs are in entertainment business. And it's the cheapest entertainment you can ever get in this world (the other option is TV, where you get crappy shows or series with advertisements every 5 minutes). You usually pay about $15 a month, and spend a minimum of 10-15 hours per week. There are hundreds of thousands expecting the same service.
However, you can try the luxury if you want a much better, even customized service. You can rent a limo with a driver, pick up 2 beautiful ladies on the road, spend a night (6-8 hours) on Ritz Carlton hotels. That's also an entertainment, but it's luxury. Then you have the right to whine and bitch if the service gets fucked up (which probably would not get fucked up unless your d*ck size is the same as a rat's d*ck size).
After I've had credit card problem in the drive-thru of a McDonalds restaurant, I have sent the McDonalds headquarters a mail. The response was a copy-paste apologize and nothing else, and I continue to visit those restaurants. I hope you get the idea.

Actually, fanbois are a LOT more like flies. They enjoy whatever they can fly on.... and never complain.

Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.
Because this means one of several things: 1. You really, truly, do not like the game for some reason only you are privileged to. To me this is odd because there are so many other games out there - mmo, pc or console based - that suck even worse than AoC. You feel a need to let the world know why this game is bad, and you do just that by flaming everyone related to it. 2. AoC is surprisingly good and is a real threat to your favorite game - may it be WoW, LoTRO, Everquest, GW or what ever - so you feel forced to try and push it down into the ground. You need for people not to like AoC so they can continue playing your favorite instead. 3. You simply do not care about the game one way or another but you love to indulge yourself in the spirit of forum posting. You love hacking down on games just to create a reaction. Maybe there are more, sure there are, but i might be close to one of which that you represent am i not? Ladies and gentlemen, start you flaming!!
Primarily I wanna vent for paying for this overhyped POS some people claim to have a blast playing it. I also want to prevent other people paying for the garbAge/lowering their standards etc. I'm sure there are games shittier than AOC, but i haven't played/payed for any of them.
Actually, fanbois are a LOT more like flies. They enjoy whatever they can fly on.... and never complain.

Dear Sir,
I have never been a fanboy nor hater of any game. In the last 6 months I have played AoC, PotBS, Fury and LOTRO. I will play an MMO whenever I want, and I will stop playing it whenever I don't have fun.
The idea of fanboism and trash talking about a game is immature and blatantly stupid.
You can not expect anything more from a service where you get entertainment of 20-30 hours a week for $15 or you can expect, but no one cares. I am old and smart enough to realize this simple fact, which apparently you aren't.

^ Sir i must say I agree. Even though AOC is not as bad as many ppl put it. It still falls short, very short of what we were led to excpect. We didnt get what we were promised. This game will probably be good after one expansion and a couple or balances patches / glitch purges.
But for now its just a beta version, if the fanboys like it let em play it. But no need to start a new thread everyday to ask for your momma's 50$. If you buy something you never tried, your taking a risk. If you dont like takign risks, grab your cookie cutter and go play wow.

Exactly.
Life is about taking risks. The higher $$s you put on a service, the higher expectations you might have. $15 a month for tens of hours of entertainment is very very cheap, even cheaper than having a food in McDonalds.
Therefore you can not expect the highest quality with your mom's 15$, nor you can expect a finished product from an entertainment type where you know it will be patched every week

I think some people do miss the point of the food analogy, this is a simple as:
I go into the supermarket to buy a bottle of Chocolate Milk Shake, i got into the section that has them pick one up, it says on the box "<insert bran name> chocolate milk shake" , i pick it up go to checkout point buy it, step outside open it up and there is only milk inside. This situation is an obvious scam a person with half a brain can pick this one up.
Now picking up from your example, i go inside the supermarket and say that it wasnt the milkshake i bought but just milk, and the supermarket manager tells me "drink the milk now, we will give you the chocolate over the next year" do you see the problem here. I do not want milk and then chocolate i want the chocolate milkshake i paid for, which was obviously not there.

Well, you can be both old and smart (not enough to check my profile first tho...), but you still failed at comprehension. I was just replying to your insult of labeling a person (any person) a "fly", that spoils your fun in some mystical way. This gave me the idea for the fanboi/fly analogy, as it's quite good imho in the sense that some people will just remain in denial when they don't even get 1% of what they had been promised in the hype times.
Imagine, there are still people in Dark and Light, some of them probably still waiting for *The Fix*!
About what to expect... I am paying 9.99 USD per month for an MMO. The other night I had an issue where one of my quests did not close out when finished, so it did not trigger the next one in the chain. I posted a ticket, and was addressed by a GM in less then a minute. He solved it in the next 2 minutes, and wished me a great time.
AoC's problem is with promises, expectation versus what's been actually delivered, and the level of service. This is what I'm seeing in virtually every post - promises unfulfilled. The only people who deny this are fanbois, sadly.
As for me, It did never upset me personally, as I tried the game with no expectation - and enjoyed it quite a lot. When I left Tortage, however, some problems popped up. Still, you have not seen me bashing this game anywhere on these boards, (exactly for the reason that I had no special expectation). I put my box on the shelf, and will happily resubscribe if the issues are fixed, content is there and GM's are actually qualified. Let's see then

Number 1 should be your only answer. If someone doesn't like the game for reasons only known to them then it's pretty easy to see they've played it and made their decision.
Personally I quit AoC when Diablo 3 was announced because I couldn't get myself to care about Conan anymore.

1. Life is about risks. Purchasing products of entertainments are NOT. If you buy an LCD TV and it does not have any sound, will you accept it as a "risk", a part of life? LOL
2. Well I am playing an MMO that costs less than 15 USD a month, it is a finished product (was already finished at launchday) that has zero bugs, and it is not being patched every week, but constantly updated with new content and features every 2nd or 3rd month.
But, maybe I'm spoiled and this is not how each MMO should be. You are saying we all should accept crap as crap then?

I have the same problem with AoC. I have been promised to play a PvP centered game. When I played during open beta, PvP had a huge penalty. It was hardcore. Because if you die in PvP combat, you were losing like 6x the amount of PvP XP you were getting by killing another in PvP.
I have adressed these problems. I wrote constructive critisism about this, because I want PvP to have a meaning.
However, I am mature enough to respect the people who enjoy any MMO they are playing. I will never trash talk about any MMO, because if I do so, I will become the fly on the burger.
It's like going to a Red Sox game and shout that Red Sox sucks, because there is a problem in your seat, or the lights, or you can't watch the game because there is a big fat dude in front of you, or Red Sox can't do shit that day.
Then I would know I would get a fist in my nose, right? But oh ... we are in teh internet, we can trash talk about anything here!!!

700.000 accounts, 1 million boxes shipped worldwide. That's from 6 days ago 1st of July. Link:
AoC is officially the second biggest MMO after WoW in the western hemisphere. But it does not show that it is a finished product. They will be investing those $$s to the development of new content, fixing the existing world etc. etc.
It seems that the marketing campaign of AoC was very successful.

Services are products just like physical items that you buy. Everything you BUY is a product, be it service, food, TV whatever. I suggest you take some minimal course in economics or marketing at least.
Actually, I am playing LOTRO. Not surprised that you haven't recognised it, since if you had ever tried it, you would not be saying utter ridiculous stupidity about accepting any kind of crap that some publishers/developers have the face to put it in your (and other customers of those PRODUCTS') mouth.
Good chewing anyways (and an advice: calling names and labeling other people pejoratively do not make you look more mature...)

Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.
Primarily I wanna vent for paying for this overhyped POS some people claim to have a blast playing it. I also want to prevent other people paying for the garbAge/lowering their standards etc. I'm sure there are games shittier than AOC, but i haven't played/payed for any of them.
Dear Sir,
I have never been a fanboy nor hater of any game.

I'm not a no life that sits in front of his computer all day long, I'm an intern that sits in front of his computer all day long.

Exactly.

I now understand what it takes to have a blast playing with the garbAge of Conan.

Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.
Number 1 should be your only answer. If someone doesn't like the game for reasons only known to them then it's pretty easy to see they've played it and made their decision.
Personally I quit AoC when Diablo 3 was announced because I couldn't get myself to care about Conan anymore.
The sleeper awakes...and rides his dirtbike to the mall.
I still fail to understand what you are doing in the Age of Conan forums if you think it's garbage and quit playing the game.

LOL that's priceless
DB
Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.

If people think its garbage then they will discuss why its garbage that is the whole point of having these game sections.
over a million peopel bought the game already and of course this says something about how good it is. you can see maybe 100 or 1000 peopel wrong, but you can not argue with the million thats like a small country

AoC is officially the second biggest MMO after WoW in the western hemisphere. But it does not show that it is a finished product. They will be investing those $$s to the development of new content, fixing the existing world etc. etc.
It seems that the marketing campaign of AoC was very successful.
