What this says about the game is they are not prepared to ship unfinished content, which of course more than a few companies are more than happy to do.
What I want to see is Mythic's time estimate of how long it will be until the cut-from-release features are intended to be added back in, and a commitment that they will be patched in, not sold to players as expansions.
This actually balances the game out with the cuts. You can see by the guild section that destruction is the most popular. If you take a look at WoW Horde was the most popular and it gave them advantage when raiding Cities. ( Only 2 cities in WoW were it actually had people in it) With this in mind this cuts the destruction advantage with there numbers when raiding a Order city by allowing the low population of order to concentrate on one City and allowing them to defend it without being worried about another city being raided.
The class cuts i don't know what to think. I guess some were unbalanced.

You have to be looking at things through a pretty rosey set of glasses to come to that conclusion. More than half of the RvR is cut, so that is unfinished elements being pushed to live just to meet a deadline. Additionally, several races are incomplete and unfinished but also being pushed to live to meet a deadling.

Why would you take thier word for such a thing anyways? If in 5 years of development, without the pressures and issues of a live game, they couldn't get it out then how can they get mroe stuff out in live?
I think to say that the latest developments really say anything about the game other than what has been directly stated is presumptious. The only people who really know what the game is like are the developers and the testers.
I think to say that this really says anything about the game is assuming something. The only people who really know what the game is like are the developers and the testers.
How is it presuming anything? For 95% of the development cycle the cut stuff was deemed important enough to be part of the game. Now in order to meet an arbitrary deadline it gets cut - it isn't assuming to read that this means finishing is less important than meeting a deadline. And as I said before, if it was just a case of weeks or a month away from being done they would certainly delay as right now I think they only have committed to Q4 not a date certain - obviously, to make an announced cut like this it must be a long way from being done.
It really takes little assumption and no reading between the lines to see that the focus at mythic is on shipping a product by a date certain, not on building the game to the point that it is ready for release and then shipping it. The former scenario of those should be a huge red flag and gamer knows to avoid.

That is how I see it, and not so much because of the changes as I was nto really a big follower of this feature or that element anyways. Just seeing the obvious indication of the 'get it out the door'/'good enough' mentality at work leaves a very bad taste.
Saying they cut 2/3rds of the RvR is just pure BS.
The capital cities were planned to be PvE content after an RvR conquest had been achieved. Instead they add content to the capitol still in, hopefully RvR content to what used to be a PvE part of the game (since it seems people didn't like the idea of a PvE focused city fight).
With cutting the capitals themselves they cut a very small portion of the RvR.
Now you can argue(and some have) that the cut changes alot of the promised dynamic of the RvR (weak side focus on a different front to access capital content). That is something I can agree on, however there was not a cut of anything like "2/3rds of the RvR content".
You have to be looking at things through a pretty rosey set of glasses to come to that conclusion. More than half of the RvR is cut, so that is unfinished elements being pushed to live just to meet a deadline. The city sieges were not even close to being a 1/3 of the RvR action, how in the world can you say cutting 4/6 cities is cutting more than half RvR? Are you under the impression that scenerios, keeps, and other open-world RvR are now out of the game as well?
Reading the rest of your points, you are simply so un-educated when it comes to WAR it is hard to take you seriously. Myself being in Beta, sure this news is a definite hit but you are all blowing it WAY out of porpotion. Please just stop while you are still WAY behind, you are making yourself look rather silly now.
All the flamers and trolls have spent so much time on these forums they have nothing left to do but complain.
If youve ever played a gimped class that class that was irreperable due to a crippled foundation you understand why they are doing this.
If youve ever played a game were all the capital cities are a little empty, and lacking content, you understand why they are doing this.
They are doing it for the benefit of the game, and the benefit of the players. They are not doing it because "Theres not enough time" or "Because theyre secretely satan worshipping NAZIs".
I dont see how we are doing anything but praising the devs for this decision. They had the balls to stand up and admit some things they made werent up to snuff, and now theyre taking the heat.
Let me ask you guys this, would you rather not have a few extra classes in the game or end up playing a class that was perma-handicapped because of a fundamentally flawed design???
Would you rather see the game missing a few cities, or have far too many with a thin population and no concentration of PvP action?
I am actually glad they postponed 4/6 cities. I always worried it would spread out the action too much. The only thing that upsets me about it, is they didn't realize that sooner. They obviously came to the same conclusion as stated by MJ. They just handled it poorly by taking this long to realize it.
As far as the classes, it must have been some horrendous mechanic problems with the classes otherwise they most certainly would have been released, even if a little unbalanced.
Oh, and ALL MMOGs are unfinished. They always will be. it is just matter of how much quality playable content there is in, and how much more content they will regularly add to keep the population going.
As far as delaying the game, I am not sure it can take another 6month or year delay. They've delayed it before a few times and after so many delays, not only does the higher ups get ancy, but so do the customers, fans, and interest begins to wane.
I know that if I had to wait another year, I would probably be like eh, maybe. So Mythic has to balance between holding interest and releasing quality, even if somewhat lacking. We'll find out after release if the postponements are breaking or not. I don't believe they will, but I'll find out in a few months.

It isn't finished. They are releasing it early just like every MMO that has ever been released besides to some degree WoW. They should push it back me thinks, but if they can pull it off bravo. Otherwise they will get exactly what they put in.

LoL I said to a degree. They had all their planned classes, and their quests and areas were very polished and fleshed out. I know there were a lot of bugs, but they delivered for the most part what they were going for close to launch.
I am in no way promoting WoW, but saying it is an anomaly. I know a lot was missing, but most MMO's are put out unfinished and could not be passed off as a shippable game by any reasonable means. WoW could, and it is the only one besides maybe LoTRO.
Way to pick one meaningless part of my post and completely derail the entire post though. You rock!
Actually he picks a very important part. No matter what you may say wow was missing things that was planed, just because it got by without them doesnt mean they didnt lie to us or w/e you want to call.
Continue that and now these features that was suppose to be in at launch are now a xpac but we forget since it was a long while ago.
Take that same logic and apply to WAR. Quests are in and work , PQ's work , technicly they didnt have all their planed classes cause hero classes was up on there, and we are just now seeing them. They changed their mind for balancing reasons remember .We have siege weapons, we have RVR we have a capital to attack we have the mechanics.
Seriously?
WoW shipped with all of its fucking citys. I dunno about you but id be pretty pissed if on WoW's launch day, i created a tauren and started in the same city as undead. Having no real home, zone, or realm to relate my race to.
I mean no shit WoW has released more content with each patch. Its a god damned mmo. Would be a pretty stagnant game if they didn't release new content eh? The point is that this was planned **LAUNCH** content (which is a huge part of forming the setting of the game mind you) from the beginning of the dev process for this title. One of the FIRST videos shown discribing RvR where the Dwarf/Greenskin realms. You can't honestly compare WoW releasing "The Black Temple" and "Illidan Stormrage" later on in the games lifespan, to cutting a starting realm or a class that had been annouced from the beginning. It's bullshit. Their content isn't ready and they think that if they release after WoTLK, its game over for the franchise.
On another note.. If i was Games Workshop id be fucking pissed right now. This has to infringe on the Lore. They haven't even pulled the content to be removed from their website.

How about they do what they said they were going to do, fulfill their promises, sell me what was advertised with the pre-order, and just delay the game? They have delayed the game a couple of times for 'polish', made people wait nearly a year inbetween, but this flies?

Please show me in the pre-order where it specifies 6 full RvR raidable cities and what classes will be available..
I must have missed that part.
Oddly enough, up until this, I didn't even KNOW they were going to have more than 2 capital cities.. No real loss for me.. Still has what I want. Scenarios, PQ's, ToK, Keep takes, Sieges, and 2 cities to siege that I'll likely never see everything in anyway, since I usually don't do raids.

I reckon the people who pre ordered would argue that keeping the promise to release sooner rather than later is more important than this.

First off all races have their own starting areas and complete zones minus the capital cities so you regurgitated gibber is wasted.
Think a bit on your statement. WoW had Darnassus, Ironforge, Stormwind, Thunderbluff, Orgrimmar, and the Undercity at launch. What about gnomes and trolls? Oh yeah they came up with a half assed excuse because they added those races in at the end and didn't have the time to make their own cities, even almost 4 years later, no hoome cities for trolls and gnomes.
Next at launch no one ever did a damn thing past starting quests and quick pass throughs in Darnassus, Stormwind, Thunderbluff, or the Undercity. They were pointless, had no Auction houses, and they were barren wastelands. You may go there to train once in a while because it is close, but everyone hung out in Orgrimmar and Ironforge.
So you would rather have game designers release cities that are hallow, pointless, and useless just so you can say "they are there!" instead of actually making cities that are worth a damn? That is what you are saying right? Not one city in WoW can shine a candle at what Altdorf and the Innevitable City have to offer. Quality is better than quantity. Unless you are just another mindless sheep. If so enjoy drinking the WoW kool-aid.
The pre order may not say it, but the Warhammer Online Website Game description may.
Hmm.. I still don't see either a list of classes, nor it saying "A capital city for every race". Just " Take part in an ongoing campaign to invade an enemy's land and sack their capital city." .. If i'm in Chaos, Alt is still my enemies city.. And if I'm Order, the... err.. other city is... (Sorry, memory lapse.. can't recall the name right now).
Again, if someone could find where it states that, that would be great.
Seriously? WoW shipped with all of its fucking citys. I dunno about you but id be pretty pissed if on WoW's launch day, i created a tauren and started in the same city as undead. Having no real home, zone, or realm to relate my race to. the content available to players from all the cities in one faction can't even compare to whats available in one city of warhammer. not too mention when was the last time the enemy took over a city in warcraft? it just isn't possible. Their content isn't ready and they think that if they release after WoTLK, its game over for the franchise. omg what about the promises of hero classes at release or shortly there after? they also spoke about implementing siege weapons. what about when they implemented the honor sytem then pissing everyone off when they revamped the entire honor/pvp sytem? there is alot of things that needs to be cut in order to get released its just the way it is. If you don't like it do yourself a favor and go live in a bubble cause nothing in life ever goes as planned and you have to be ready for whatever bumps in the road you run into. On another note.. If i was Games Workshop id be fucking pissed right now. This has to infringe on the Lore. They haven't even pulled the content to be removed from their website. well games workshop is lucky they don't have someone like you in charge of them for being so irrational and not looking at all the positives that the news brings.
well games workshop is lucky they don't have someone like you in charge of them for being so irrational and not looking at all the positives that the news brings.
Games Workshop turned down Blizzards proposal to make a Warhammer game. They tried to put their positive spin on that one too. Forgive me if LAWL at that again, and witness history repeating itself.
By the way synn a lot of your other comments, especially about being able to take over an enemy town, are wrong. I'm sorry you guys. I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really sorry for those of you who have been following WAR so closely. Like I said before, this is awfully cruel to their most dedicated fans. It seems like a totally unnecessary blow.

I just told you what was advertised. Now why the hell, and what reasonable person, would think they were actually cutting out 2/3 of the cities and 4 of the classes? These are not minor changes, if I had suggested that this might happen before today I would have been burned at the stake for being crazy and delusional.
To the person below this post who said those that pre-ordered were more concerned about getting the game sooner than later... I happen to be one the of the CE pre-order folks. Obviously I'd rather have it complete than have it 'sooner'.

You hit it right on the head.

Oh.. and 20 classes to chose from...
I reckon the people who pre ordered would argue that keeping the promise to release sooner rather than later is more important than this.
well atleast they are telling us wont be in it at release insted of just BSing us.. unlike another game i wont mention... lol

The pre order may not say it, but the Warhammer Online Website Game description may.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
