Ok well considering that this thread is going nowhere how about we talk about something very import like Pvp in hello kitty ? I personally think that they will make it rvr in order for hello kitty to be the warkiller. But then again it could be full loot pvp with just pk everywhere on the map but town and noob zones. Hello kitty will prolly drain all the hardcore gamers out of wow and war (nah not aoc the real gamers already ran away from it)
I agree. The PvP in hello kitty is to much for me. I'm looking for something more casual, like WAR.
A WoW killer would not be very good for us hardcore oldschool mmo types.. any game that manages to surpass wow will be even more of a watered down please-everyone mass market deal, and not a sophisticated alternate reality game..

But having seen one (read the herald we all know beta testers have seen them) myself personally I agree with their reasons to remove them. My biggest thing is I'm hoping you won't need like a $6,000 PC to run WAR. Would really suck if I couldn't run the game witha 3GHz processor, 3.5 GB of RAM, and 512MB graphics card.
One thing I noticed... when I saw early videos of WAR the graphics looked rather dated - kinda reminded me of EverQuest 2 or something -- but the latest videos look a lot better (newer looking graphics).
Guess maybe the older videos had an earlier version of their graphics engine maybe?

Yes, if you never have done a beta before, you would be amazed at the graphic polishing that goes on in the last month or two before release.
OP why do you think any game would be able to "kill" WoW? I mean EQ1 didnt have 1/4th of the subscribers that WoW had and its still going strong. MMO's dont kill other MMO's. It's just as simple as that. What your talking about is some promised land that will be a perfect game that will last you years and years and wont get you the least bit uninterested. We have all played games sense we was little youngin's but I can tell you from experience there is no promised land MMO, because if there was one then bots and koreans would take over the place and make it their home instead of yours. Because the sad truth is if the game does become popular and is polished good it means that gold farmers will come and destroy the economy. I personally have ordered the collector's edition of WAR and am looking forward to it, its getting really tiring going through these forum posts made by MMO players stuck in limbo between games seeking a game that will never exist. There is no gaming Utopia, just a game that peaks a certain person's interest. Maybe WAR will kill WoW in your mind, but I think it will be around for a huge amount of time.
I know i am just echoing my thoughts with what has already been said so i will keep it relatively short.
It is an impossibility to kill a game like WoW on ANY level, if it happens it will happen from within (ie Blizzard pulls the plug) Even then, the death will be unbelievably slow. Even ignoring the fact no game can kill WoW, it is crazy to think a game such as WAR which has such a different methodology when it comes to MMO gameply can kill WoW. WAR is about the RvR without raids in terms of how raids are handled in WoW. The PvP in WoW is much more "memememe" where the WAR PvP is more about being part of a something bigger than themselves. You will not seeing these egomaniacs who play arena with these small 2-4 man teams. Whether you like it or not, you will be providing to whichever side you choose on a much bigger scale.
The selfish, childish, and egotistical PvP that WoW plays towards will not be found in WAR (outside of leaderboards). Although the graphical style can be called similar, likewise with the UI, that's about all that is similar with WoW. Aside from all the staples MMOs have that go back far before WoW, I believe the games are too different to adversely affect one another.
Sure, WAR being the next big thing may take away some WoW players who thirst for something new, only those who truly want something new will stay. Those comparing it to their WoW lovechild at every turn will eventually go back to WoW.

I have played a few betas; but most I have gotten into has been closer to release - except I got in early on Age of Conan - so I haven't gotten to witness to much of graphics engine changes (expect for; of course; Age of Conan).
But; to be honest; I wasn't gonna be even looking into this game cause the graphics looked kinda dated at frist. So I didn't bother keeping up with the game. But after seeing the latest videos I will be trying this game out - and hope I get into beta.

How is War PVP different from any other pvp ? You kill a player , is the end result., adding mechanics is just that adding, the end result one player wins on player loses, War's pvp is just as good as the next, and find that when you have a game with xcontent is basically PvP you won't find anything else then that content wise. It is a bold move for this kind of game on but I doubt it will even dent WoW's numbers. 500k at launch , Blizzard can ban 500k and not feel it.
And this is why WoW does great, they have the millions of zombies out there playing it.

Yes, if WAR will be able to kill WoW it will have to be a 7+ game and you will have to be able to play it on ten year old computers and possibly on Macs too.
Mythic didn't cut to please anyone infact they were less than pleased with having to temporarily remove 4 cities. But having seen one (read the herald we all know beta testers have seen them) myself personally I agree with their reasons to remove them. As for the classes .... if you read the Herald they've never been in beta (atleast not this year)...Beta's been balanced and doing fine without those 4 classes for ages so...do we really need them?
Every MMO in existance has released without content don't expect that to change. WoW released without End Game, SWG missing lots n lots n lots plus buggy as hell , EQ 2 released without End Game, and even some Mid Game Raids etc, Age of Conan covered up their missing content. The games were missing entire SYSTEMS ... Mythic's WAR is just missing a few 'choices' techincally every system they promised to launch with is there and if thats not good enough for you then perhaps MMOS aren't for you.

My biggest thing is I'm hoping you won't need like a $6,000 PC to run WAR. Would really suck if I couldn't run the game witha 3GHz processor, 3.5 GB of RAM, and 512MB graphics card.
One thing I noticed... when I saw early videos of WAR the graphics looked rather dated - kinda reminded me of EverQuest 2 or something -- but the latest videos look a lot better (newer looking graphics).
Guess maybe the older videos had an earlier version of their graphics engine maybe?

Yes, if you never have done a beta before, you would be amazed at the graphic polishing that goes on in the last month or two before release.
OP why do you think any game would be able to "kill" WoW? I mean EQ1 didnt have 1/4th of the subscribers that WoW had and its still going strong. MMO's dont kill other MMO's. It's just as simple as that. What your talking about is some promised land that will be a perfect game that will last you years and years and wont get you the least bit uninterested. We have all played games sense we was little youngin's but I can tell you from experience there is no promised land MMO, because if there was one then bots and koreans would take over the place and make it their home instead of yours. Because the sad truth is if the game does become popular and is polished good it means that gold farmers will come and destroy the economy. I personally have ordered the collector's edition of WAR and am looking forward to it, its getting really tiring going through these forum posts made by MMO players stuck in limbo between games seeking a game that will never exist. There is no gaming Utopia, just a game that peaks a certain person's interest. Maybe WAR will kill WoW in your mind, but I think it will be around for a huge amount of time.
I know i am just echoing my thoughts with what has already been said so i will keep it relatively short.
It is an impossibility to kill a game like WoW on ANY level, if it happens it will happen from within (ie Blizzard pulls the plug) Even then, the death will be unbelievably slow. Even ignoring the fact no game can kill WoW, it is crazy to think a game such as WAR which has such a different methodology when it comes to MMO gameply can kill WoW. WAR is about the RvR without raids in terms of how raids are handled in WoW. The PvP in WoW is much more "memememe" where the WAR PvP is more about being part of a something bigger than themselves. You will not seeing these egomaniacs who play arena with these small 2-4 man teams. Whether you like it or not, you will be providing to whichever side you choose on a much bigger scale.
The selfish, childish, and egotistical PvP that WoW plays towards will not be found in WAR (outside of leaderboards). Although the graphical style can be called similar, likewise with the UI, that's about all that is similar with WoW. Aside from all the staples MMOs have that go back far before WoW, I believe the games are too different to adversely affect one another.
Sure, WAR being the next big thing may take away some WoW players who thirst for something new, only those who truly want something new will stay. Those comparing it to their WoW lovechild at every turn will eventually go back to WoW.

I have played a few betas; but most I have gotten into has been closer to release - except I got in early on Age of Conan - so I haven't gotten to witness to much of graphics engine changes (expect for; of course; Age of Conan).
But; to be honest; I wasn't gonna be even looking into this game cause the graphics looked kinda dated at frist. So I didn't bother keeping up with the game. But after seeing the latest videos I will be trying this game out - and hope I get into beta.
I did notice that with the current graphics it kinda remembers me of the way Guild Wars looks. Which is fine by me - I love the look of Guild Wars.

Lol all 10 million will be running around with a DK now. All you will see are DKs. I believe Blizz made a bad move releasing just one hero class. Given people have max lvl alts of 2 of each character, I'm sure 80+% of the players are just dying to max something different.
