Look hypothetically if I were a different person I might call a certain person who will remain nameless a worthless BS artist who would suck the collective phalus of funcom at the drop of a hat and seem to have a voracious hunger for said phalus. But I am not that sort of person and this was really purely hypothetical so it never really happened anyway
Plus i never named any names so its perfectly fine.
Its kind of like that. See its all good.
You know why it's good? Because you're putting on the suit yourself - he's not calling you anything. Sure, he's implicitly doing so, but the insult is so vague there's no reason for you to feel offended, really. You're just taking the insult and applying it to yourself... he just put it in the table, so to speak. He's not breaking the rules at all. He just knows how to circumvent them. In a smart way that makes you feel offended, while at the same time he can calmly claim he never directed it to you. Hehe... fun.

Well actually I'm not offended since I know I am not a tin foil hat wearer (and in fact have told people to get a grip) and skztout did not say he was offended merely said he was insulting people.
So at best all you can say is that skztout is assuming who is that group, not assigning it to himself.
Either way as long as you use the proper weasel words/phrases its all good and you can apparently do whatever you please.
Still - It is very important that the opinions of the Admins and Mods on this forums are NOT controlling what is allowed to be said and what is not. Sadly this has been broken numerous times regarding AOC pre and post launch. Just to name few examples many "positive" posts about miracle patches and so on with no proof (even under NDA) were allowed to stand while other "negative" posts that had proofs (like memory crash and fps) were deleted on these forums. And the posters were banned. My issue with MMORPG.COM at this point is that they have not been neutral in this matter. Banning some ppl for breaking NDA while not banning others for the same thing based on their positive or negative opinions is not acceptable. And why were the negative posters beeing banned and not the positives ? Maybe it had something to do with MMORPG.COM knew Funcom would complain and take some actions against the negative NDA breaking posts - but would OFC not bother with the positives NDA breakers. Again - this is about beeing neutral. We can not say that MMORPG.COM have been neutral here and therefor we have very little reason to beleve they will be now.
(whole thread a fun read.... thx to all who post).
I would like to interject an observation on the above. About mmorpg being neutral. Several examples given where that they will tend to lean towards supporting the positive. I think they do. But it makes all the sense in the world really. As a website, the best of all possible worlds would be 10+ high quality MMOs in existence, and all those people coming here to discuss and compare them. Tons of TRAFFIC, which is what a website is all about. No traffic, and ALL the advertisers will go away.
So if mmorpg.com is slightly overly positive on any given MMO, it's just their promotion of the industry as a whole. Cause if all the MMOs in the world suck, then no one will be coming here...
So the next time you see a mmorpg.com correspondent or writer talking about how great an upcoming game is, don't view that as a 'critical review' like Gene Siskel talking about a movie.... INSTEAD.... read it like a bartender describing the taste of some new beer they just got it in.
Originally posted by Arcken Interestingly I got banned for making a reference about the aforementioned parties involvement in the Funcom PR scam and got banned for it, go figure.
I think we all know that PR people are on this website, and roughly just who they are. I was slapped on the wrist here for calling someone out as well. I've been called a tinfoil-hat-wearer, but by people whom I believe are PR/viral marketers themselves.
It isn't just AoC though, they weren't the first and they are not the last.
If you look at his account creation date and compare it to the HUGE amounts of posts hes done in such a short time, Im inclined to think he either gets paid by Funcom, or gets kickbacks.
I noticed this about someone and cited it in the post that I got an infraction for.
If we, normal players, actually get pushed out of the forums than mmorpg will suffer. It did NOT WORK for Yahoo!Movies, they moved around and toyed with the user reviews to no avail. IMO we are very nearly at that critical point now.
I think it also helps if we stop pre-ordering games and crap that we know are going to be mediocre.

We really need an independent mmorpg forum that is not paid by companies like Mythic and Funcom. Where we can discuss games with the censorship that you find here.. This forum is not independent and I think people forget that. This is all about the almighty $
I think it also helps if we stop pre-ordering games and crap that we know are going to be mediocre.
Agree completely, but you see - people never learn. The crap FC sold us is still fresh and steaming, yet people are already jumping on WAR wagon, not even 3 months after they got shafted.
I'm not saying WAR will be good or bad, just remember that FC also told us how alot of things "will be" and " will work" just before the launch.
FC has also cut some classes and stuff a couple of months before the release, and they told us it is in the interest of the game and being fun and stuff like that.
Again, I'm not saying WAR will be crap or fail, but for all I know, it might go exactly the way of AOC - fact is that we don't know much about it except hype at this point, yet people have such a short memory span that they are already running after it
..... just because someone likes a game or is defending a game, dosent mean your part of a markiting ploy to convert the ignorant. It just means one thinks a game is being juged unfairly by a comuninty! Calm down there rly are people out there that think AoC isnt a total steaming piece of s@#&.

No offense, but your post does not look like it was written by a 38 y/o American.

Sorry m8 - you took things out of context ? So you find it perfectly ok that some ppl that break NDA are just left alone and posts are allowed to stand ? Positive my arse - this is direct violation of these forum rules and still it has been allowed to happen in the launch of AOC.
And I do like forums to be positive. But then there has to be something to be positive about. If these forums are here to promote good MMOs - then it should also be first in line to condem the bad MMOs that do turn out to have a) missing features b) missing content c) broken core systems d)exploidable content e) fals adverts f) lack of support.
MMOs are not tools to cheat ppl out of money. Funcom are at this point ONLY trying to cheat ppl out of money by promising this and that, then preventing ppl to find out the correct information and then when ppl buy the game FC justs ignore ppl that feels they have been cheated on. And again - if one single custimor feels that way about any product from any company - then something IS wrong. FC doesnt care tho. Cause it seems like their goal in the first place was not to please custimors. It was to get ppl to buy buggy product in the first place.
Research has shown thatr when universities recieved research grants from a known source even with all the best intentions and safeguards in place the research carried out was always more favorable to the sponsor than if it was anonomyous funding.
It proved that if 2 parties enter in a financial relationship that it affected the impartially of the parties involved even when they have safe guards and reviews in place, it still subconciously made a difference to the people doing the research.
So even with the best intentions MMORPG really cannot be considered truly impartial.
I think in Interviews and reviews.. everybody should realize that it's not just the ad sponorship that comes into play (which may make things a little biased), but it is also the 'star' factor. The interviewer gets entranced because he has inside access. I always think this.. an interview/review was written by 1 person.. it is just as 'useful' to me as a single post made on a forum by one person.
As far as fanbois.. I really didn't realize it was such a derrogatory term that could get you banned. I almost always call myself a WOW fanboy when I start a thread on a differen't games forum.. just to point out my bias and my experiences. Basically I'm saying... I'm asking you this question.. but there is no way you are going to convince me that WOW is a bad game.
When someone on this board (no names LOL).. gets called a fanboy.. All I think is that no matter what is said, or what is shown.. that person is not going to be open to change their mind.
Its easy guys. Despite what the Managing Editor and Admins say, we know that there is a strong chance the Correspondents are in someone's pocket who has a vested interest.
I intend to simply gloss over or ignore whatever they post.
