Best MMO in a long time and will be mt home for awhile.
don't be a blind fanboi, crafting is pointless and probably the worst out of any mmo. Character creation is very restrictive and 90% of your class will look just like you.
There are some really well done points, the more you play the more you realise it was pushed out the door pronto... and thats a shame.
Crafting my arse! I don't want some jumper crafted by some nerd face! I want to smash people in their nerd faces with my fist that turns into a weapon! I want to destroy his city and /hump his corpse!
Finally, a game that doesn't cater the boring gits who like to knit on the internet.
Apparently you never played beta, and the fact that you browse the forum of a game you hate doesn't make any sense. You sound totally rediculous. It's not even worth my time to post the massive amounts of innovative and fantastic features of WAR. Move along, troll.
I do play CB, my point from me to you is the avatar icon your using, you have no clue what it means to have it or where it originated from. You completely contradicted your self in making this thread with that avatar.
My point from me to you, if you do not know what purepwnage is, please do not use the uber micro without knowing what it stands for.
Its like you walking with a T-Shirt that says 'kick me' and not understand why people kicked you!
You are a funny guy. You are completely convinced you know what you are talking about but on multiple occasions have been completely wrong.
You seem to think you have some secret hidden knowledge and special insight that makes you special but in reality its the complete opposite.

I liked the crafting in WoW before they destroyed it, saying that it was actually being made better. Pshaw. However there doesn't really appear to be a need or really interesting way to put it in WAR, and its not like they put it in then ripped it out like Blizzard, so I don't mind that much.

The Tome of Knowledge lives up to the hype. Everything good you heard about it is true.
I personally think it still needs a little polish, but it delivers what was promised - a fun MMORPG focused on PvP. There's always something to do. War is everywhere.

I don't feel like adding a new "OMGWTFBBQ WAR FTW!" thread to the already clogged board, so I'll just hijack this one.
Buddy of mine got into the beta last week, and I finally got over to his house today to sit down and play. I was very impressed with what I saw. The UI was refined, gameplay was drop in and go, character mechanics were unique enough that each class will have a distinct playstyle without being overly gimmicky. You can tell just how much love they put into the Greenskin starter zone. There wasn't an inch of dead space that I saw. Pacing of combat was quick without being overly frenetic. The Greenskin quests, NPCs, flavor text, and ToK entries kept me laughing for hours. PQs are straight-up gamechanging. I showed up for one that was in progress, got in a few kills, then hung around after it reset to do it start to finish. Influence builds at a rate that allows you to do the PQ a few times and be done with it instead of required endless grinding of it, a mechanic that makes even the most fun content stale.
That doesn't mean it was perfect. Monster pathing made me want to choke babies. Every third either runs two steps past you and stops or heads off for the hills when pulled. If you've tried fighting villagers as Chaos you know exactly what I'm talking about. Mob quantities also seemed a bit over-the-top for soloing at points, especially in cramped spaces. I found a few spots where you can easily get stuck; the no-cooldown hearthstone equivalent got me out, but that could easily get frustrating. And yes, in starter zones, everyone looks damn near identical. Immersion is broken somewhat when eight cloned black orcs are all swinging at the same target. I can see small evidence here and there where the game lacks a little bit of polish, causing me to also have that feeling mentioned above of the game being just a touch rushed.
The clencher: The Tome of Knowledge. I opened it up just to see if it was half of what it was hyped to be. It completely blew the hype out of the water. I honestly think that the ToK puts your average guide site out of business for all but item lists. I kid you not, every race you talk to becomes an entry. Important people become an entry. Everything you kill becomes an entry. Everything you do will eventually result in an unlockable. Watch the right scripted event? Unlock. Do enough quests? Unlock. In less than two hours, I had unlocked three titles and a few dozen ToK entries, just through normal gameplay. This will become an addiction. Tome completion will be just as much a bragging right as high kill counts and insane gear.
Now that I've actually laid hands to it, WAR has become not just a must-have game, but a camp-out-at-the-store-buy-the-first-copy-hijack-someone's-wireless-and-play-NOW game.
The last few games to hit the market have actually been cookie cutter in atleast one way.......they've all been bug ridden unfinished pieces of trash. (....)
I agree with you on this point, and for all that say WAR has innovative features most likely havent played any other MMO out there.
I agree with you on this point, and for all that say WAR has innovative features most likely havent played any other MMO out there.
Tome of Knowledge. Fail in 1.
the overall level of integration into the game with the Tome of Knowledge, quests, etc. really is unique to this game. I've seen similar ideas in some other games, but nothing as fully realized as this one. I'm the type of guy that tends to accept quests without reading them beyond finding out what the objective is, and I've spent a few hours looking through it. I imagine the Achiever types are going to have a field day with it.
Tome of Knowledge LMAO! that nothing more than a dressed up Quest Journal with beatiary information that simply 'adds' an additional quest when the required quests have been completed.
I am still on the fence about Warhammer. It does look like a good game and there is a lot of positive things on the boards here. I just wanted to comment on one thing that is mention several times in this thread and many others. There are a lot of compalints that all the MMO's that have been released in recent times are all pure trash. I would agree with this for the most part. But I think that Lord of the Rings online was definetly an exception to this. Even if you didnt like the gameplay or the graphics or it just wasnt your cup of tea, Turbine has done an outstanding job with this title.
There are a lot of people on these boards that are very quick to criticize, but you will rarely see anybody give credit where credit is due. Lotro, in my opinion , probably had one of the best launches ever, and up until the most recent book has been almost perfection as far as performance and content is concerned. Now dont get me wrong everybody has different tastes and i can see why a lot of people do not like it, but i am just talking about how the game was hyped and how it was delivered. Warhammer will hopefully be just as amazing. We need more games that follow this suit. So far it sounds like this may be the case. I really like seeing a lot more of the positive comments around here for once rather than all the anger and dissapointment.

I'd agree with you there, I played LOTRO for 13 months and even though my last few months were spent only in monster play I thought it was up there with the best MMO's I've played.
Personally I've been waiting on this game for too long to listen to the nay-sayers (and there's not many of them TBH). I'm certianly not over-hyped for it after the let down that was AoC but I'm quietly confident this will be my main game for 12 months+.

No, I'm hardcore! I kill people in my Impairor, that's just how I roll!
Seriously though, I can see how you think I'm contradicting myself, being an EVE player. The main reason I play EVE is because every other MMO lacks in the PvP department, I'd much prefer to sit down, go find some enemies and kill them. In EVE you have to work for the good stuff, it's something I don't really like in gaming but when the alternative is WoW's PvP, then I'm happy to do it.
@ altairzq; Thanks for fixing it, that's exactly my point though. Perhaps looking back at it, it could look like I was making fun of nerds and excluding myself. However, the point in saying that was that we're all nerds in some kind of respect, and at the end of the day we all just want to kill each other and have fun doing it.
The hype has come through. With the NDA lifted, people will begin to understand. This game IS the messiah MMORPG players have been waiting for. We sat though years of utter garbage, and now have something worth the wait. This game is full of content, lacking in bugs, and bursting at the seams with fun. PvErs and PvPers can both find a home here. The new, experimental MMORPG elements were a success. Public quests blew away all expectations, RvR is diverse and integrated into the universe flawlessly. Performance is phenominal in high traffic areas even on a older PC. It all came through. Congrats, Mythic, you did it.
I could have sworn this was the exact same post posted on AoC's forums a month before it's release. The only changes would be that you'd refer to Funcom, not Mythic. See what I'm getting at?
This MMORPG is anything but experimental. I think fans and haters would agree.
Sabutai do you go and post this junk in every forum or just the WAR ones? We get it you don't like games that copy other games and want everything to be new and innovative. Sorry it just isn't a reality in any game, they all copy their cores from somewhere else.
This is the first game I've played that is built around PvP from the ground up. I have not seen the public quest concept done in another game. The open groups, war banners some of the guild leveling system, cultivation, tome of knowledge are all things that are new and fresh takes on older systems. The game isn't the pinnacle of innovation or anything but it isn't just WoW 2.0 either.

The difference is this actually is right this time. This game is fun and will most likely put a significant dent in the WoW playerbase within a year.
I think WAR is awsome but...I wouldn't call it a Messiah WoW pwnz Rulz all sort of game...its just a really great fun game thats easy to get into and offers a TON of stuff to do and multiple ways to progress.
