You mean like the poor followers of that game..... what was the name of it......hmmmm......, aye Age of Conan.
I saw that scam coming a long time before it dropped in the knees of the poor sods that payed for pre orders. I even warned people of it but it was like talking to closed ears. Treating their fanbase like Funcom did is a good way to ruin the trust in MMORPG developers and a catastrophy for the MMORPG genre as a whole. Funcom and companies like it is what slowly undermines the trust in MMORPG games.
Aventurine and Darkfall isnt such an example. Even if the game will totally suck they didnt scam anyone.
Since Darkfall will be a game i can try before i buy it its no risk whatsoever i will feel cheated on buying the game.
If i followed a game that dont deliver then be it, just have to find some other MMORPG to play.
Mortal Online seems promising.
At the moment were having a blast playing CoD4 on the net.

My point is. Apparantly, MOST major gaming professionals have serious questions regarding this project for whatever reasons.
Who knows.... We may ALL be incorrect and this game will end up actually being the second coming of Christ as Aragon believes. It's possible.
But until we (reasonable thinking individuals) actually "see" something tangible, it's hard to believe.

Exactly my point. They handle the distribution of the game in any shape and form. It says so in the contract that was signed, shown in the other thread here. What do you think free playtesting is? It's a distribution of the game.

i dont know but thre still self publishing the game there just gettign distrubution help the play test could be you have to buy the cd to keep playing which would work and you just get cds shipped to you after words.
kinda like if you download the game for open beta. but you still get the whole game when it releases. the playtesting thing will be before release so its like an open beta. alot of open beta dont have cds with them

Just as you spoke of how you saw all the bad coming with AoC and warned the AoC followers, and they didn't listen.. I could also warn you of all the lies told by Tasos and on the Darkfall forums. And that list would be a mile long. I could post links to all the lies told after an exhaustive search. And still, you wouldn't care.
You believe Tasos and that Darkfall is the best mmo to be developed since UO. I genuinely respect your desires for a great new PvP and full loot mmo made in the shadows of the depth and high risk vs reward game like UO was. I respect your loyalty based on really only your high desires and wishes.
I and many others have been here before however. We've been here through the years of Mourning making grand promises of the next best mmo PvP game. Then we witnessed all the promises of Dark and Light. And then we saw Vanguard fall short of expectations. But especially these small development teams that promise the world like the teams that brought us Mourning and Dark and Light. Their hearts may have been in the right place to bring us all a great new PvP game that they saw was badly needed in the mmo marketplace. Or they saw an empty hole to try and fill. Regardless, they made promises of features and graphics and game play that simply could not possibly ever be fulfilled. Even if God was on their side, they were destined in the end to fail, and to fail hard.
So now we come to Darkfall. Another small unproven team trying to make even a more ambitious mmo. Actually, I'd say this is easily the most ambitious mmo ever attempted by anyone, ever. After 5 years or 8 years, depending on when you consider their start date... we still don't even have any real game footage of actual game play. Sure we have lots of screenshots and a few videos supposedly showing game elements. But nothing that feels genuinely REAL to me. I'm not saying that Darkfall is a hoax or an evil scheme, but so far I'm simply not convinced that this is even going to be a stable, functioning game yet... much less one of the best mmo's ever made with some of the most ambitious features ever attempted functioning in it.
All the lies and mysteries and suspicious behavior over the years certainly have not helped jaded gamers like myself feel more confident in Darkfalls chances of success. In fact, it seems that the more they say and promise, and the more screenshots and videos they release, the more I feel a "deju vu" feeling that is strikingly similar to the days before Mourning and Dark and Light launched their embarrassing games to the public.
So back to the topic, you trust them. You trust them when they tell you that you wont pay anything to play the game yourself.
I don't believe that. I believe that if they don't make any money from customers, it will be simply because they never release their game. If they release their game, I think that they will certainly make some money off of it. Especially considering the fact that I believe, based only on my experience, that if they ever release, it will be a totally broken and embarrassing game.
I really hope that I am wrong about Darkfall. I would to come back here, and I will, if I am wrong. I will apologize and admit how wrong I was. If Darkfall launches and is even anywhere close to as stable and fun as Age of Conan was, I will come here and admit to being wrong about it.
....But first it has to actually launch. And it has to run halfway smoothly with atleast 50% of its promised features working. And that is a HUGE "IF" in my opinion. Huge.
I'm being completely honest when I tell you that I have already made a bet with a friend. I have $250 of mine bet against Darkfall launching before the end of 2009 and being even halfway successful, functioning, and playable. If it is, I give him $250. If however, Darkfall does not release by end of 2009, or is a nightmare like Mourning or Dark and Light with bugs making the game basically unplayable as I suspect.. then he owes me $5. I have given him 50 to 1 odds. By the way, he likes the ideas of Darkfall, but does not believe in it for even a moment either. But he told me that he'd gladly bet me and hope to win a game like Darkfall promises and $250 as well, even though he agrees that he'll very likely be handing me $5. You think I'm crazy? Maybe I desire a game like Darkfall promises quite a lot, because I will gladly pay him $250 to be wrong and see Darkfall succeed. If I lose, I'll consider myself the winner here, handing him $250. I hope like hell I don't win his $5. Hehe.
The worst thing that could happen is that I am right about Darkfall. That it either doesn't release or that it releases as a pile of crap. If that happens, then the mmo community that desires another great risk vs reward PvP mmo will become even more jaded then they already are after games like Mourning, Dark and Light, and even Vanguard and Age of Conan. It's certainly about time we all get the game that we want with all the sugar coated WoW style hold-you-by-the-hand mmos out there. But as a jaded and very skeptical gamer myself, I just don't have much hope for Darkfall to be our answer, especially after all the lies and deceit that has come from them.
Furthermore, most of us you Darkfall fans are calling "trolls" are actually not trolls. Most of us are giving plenty of substance and explanation for why we doubt Darkfall. We are jaded from promises just like the ones thrown at us from Darkfall and being let down. We have been down this road before thinking we might just quench our deep thirst for a good PvP mmo game over the next hill... only to wind up with broken dreams and promises and a broken game in the end. We have plenty of reason to be skeptical, and it's not all the other failed games fault. Darkfall and people like Tasos have given us plenty of good reason to have doubts. Lot of doubts.

The agreement states that they handed out ALL the distribution rights to Audiovisual. That means they are not self-publishing at all.

You go out and your car makes a speech at a conference where it says it's worked in a myriad of projects and companies completely uncredited and that the video it's showing has never been seen before and that the project it is working on now has a community of well over 3 million users, then contacts journalists to correct his job title on a report of said conference while expliclity confirming the rest of the stuff.
That kind of stuff.
Look it's not worth my time to sit and dig up every gawd damn lie they have spewed over all the years. You're just gonna make up excuses or try and switch the topic to how Age of Conan lied more or whatever. It's not worth it. Believe as you wish. If you cannot see what's right in front of you because you have your head that far in the clouds, then what more can I do buddy?
Ugh, since you ask for lies... I'm not even gonna spend much time at all giving you all the lies I can dig up. But let's just give you a few since you asked for them. I followed this game much more closely then you have. And what you call lies is what i call changed plans.
Its there game and its in their fully right to change the gameplan for their game without being called liers by delusional haters without the slightest knowledge of the game theyre criticising. Calling someone a lier based on changed gameplan for their game is just hillarious.

I would like to see 100 Lies exactly please. I will count them, print them out and keep them in my "Lies of Darkfall" scrap book and publish it at a later date... hopefully after launch ---- I however, am still looking for a publisher.
Ohhhhh yes, how could I have been so silly? Tasos is the most honest, caring person I have ever met. He would NEVER tell his fans known bullshit. He really did think the game was "just around the corner" back in 2005. ...They've just been tweaking little bugs since then the past 3+ years, ofcourse! Beta 2007 were no lie. It was announced as a internal target date by the company Aventurine. There was never a promise or a lie on that statement.

Beta 2005 were scratched cause they wanted to improve on the game. This can be read in one of the many developer jornals available for the game. I suggest you start reading up on the game since you lack alot of info on it. They changed their gameplan for the game which im very glad for. Darkfall of today will be a much better game then the one they wanted to go live 2005.
Beta 2003 was the old game Razorwax developed in Norway 2001 to late 2002. This isnt even the same game were talking about. The Darkfall game that will go beta October 2008 were started 2003 in Greece.

You have to be fricken kidding? Age of Conman a success? Geez what are you on? I'm not a Darfall fanboi but I can say that Darkfall has 43677540112 (rough estimate) times more potential than Age of Conman, because that game has already released and PROVEN to be utter crap. There is no changing that. Darkfall hasn't released and still has the POTENTIAL to be good (and this is true for any unreleased game). Chances are that if Darkfall is released eventually, it will beat Age of Conman no matter how crappy it is. Even most korean f2p grinders are so much better than Age of Conman it's not even funny. At least they have PvP.
Reading Darkfall fanboi posts always gives me a good chuckle, but people who still support Age of Conman are fricken hilarious. Keep up the good work.
