They didn't hype the game since it will not make that much of a difference. Rather focus the attention on the developing - if the game really blows, the players will come by themselves. 5-6 professional testers? Did you watch the video? I guess there were a little more than 5-6 people playing in the video (city siege anyone?) - Of course I noticed the other players. Could have been the Developers, the Marketing Dept, (OK, maybe not, staff of 0 wouldn't help much) friends and family, artists etc behind the controls. But I assure you, those weren't all professional testers.
Of course they trailer didn't guarantee a good game but it's the best chance we have - and it doesn't look too bad - No, I'll agree, I thought it looked great and I'm interested in playing it.
@Eve: Sorry, but I really don't like games like Eve; for once I prefer a fantasy set-up. Second: Vets have an enormous advantage over newbies and for third, but not least: Autoattack!!!1111omglololol -
Sigh, proving you really don't understand EVE's gameplay at all, which is a shame, because you are missing out on a great game. But its definitely not a fantasy game, which won't be changing in the near future. Besides, we're talking about DFO here.
Considering all the vaportrolls who gave the game a 1 cause they didn't believe in Darkfall ever beeing released (pretty much proven wrong right now), I don't see the problem. Anyway, taking part in a campaign like this one isn't just to piss you guys off. It's actually pretty fun and hypes yourself for Darkfall even more. - Its also fun to fence words with DFO fanbois trying to hype out the meters that I personally pay no attention to. (never even voted actually)

All a mod needs to do is delete some random 10 hypes that he/she deems to be invalid, not exactly rocket science is it. Enigma probably thinks there was nothing wrong with the Florida votes back in 2004.
If you read the first post on this page they say that Mods don't have any influnece over the hype meter.
I'm guessing that a bunch of people voted for this game a while ago, saw this post, and wanted to put the OP in his place. So they went back and edited their hype. That would easily explain the lack of increase or decrease in votes.
Are you saying that every hype/vote is permanent and cannot be removed?

Sorry, but rating down games you don't care for is actually the sence of the hypemeter.
Well, if I should believe the comments, people are hyping games they like and are hyped up for with a 1 just to get Darkfall above that game. I am not saying that is wrong or right. The main purpose of the hype meter is to get people to subscribe to www.mmorpg.com and little else, even with fake accounts.

You are assuming way too much, it was just a simple question. I just thought maybe if the mods felt a hype was dodgy or unreasonable, it would breach some TOS and they'd remove it. Or if it had some profanity or racist words.
I personally gave the game a hype rank of 2. Its been in development for 7 years. Too long. low vote. Thanks OP for the attention to it!
Most games are in development for more than 7 years however they don't announce it.
More on the topic, I deeply apologise for suggesting the moderators of this forum may have had involvment in the recent hype-meter movements.
I know this thread has put a lot of bad publicity onto the Darkfall name and as a community member I feel as if Blixa has done us all a disrespect.
Note the faces you see here or on the Darkfall forums are the minority of the Darkfall community and the final community on release, I would 'beg' you not to listen to them.
Cast your hype on the games features, promises, videos. Cast your hype vote / reconsider your hype vote on the game and not the community, Darkfall has the 'potential' don't dampen it because of the 12 year olds that exist on every MMO out today.
Furthermore, reading some posts in this thread which suggests several people are using multiple accounts to increase hype or decrease hype appauls me. To counter-argue that I'm certain it has happen to other games where 'fanbois' have created multiple accounts.
Sorry, but even if the algorithm would be influenced by other factors, it is nearly impossible for a game that's been constantly rising for the last few days to drop by 0.3 points (gaining this amount takes ALOT of time) without any impact from the outside. And if this wouldn't be enough of a coincidence, all this happens just about 20 minutes after I created that thread and several minutes after it was moved (meaning a mod noticed it).
And even if a normal Mod cannot change the meter, I'm pretty sure the admin/higher ranked mods (if they exist, I'm not very familiar with the ranking system here) do have the rights. And don't even think about me the administrator isn't able to do this...

If you read the thread it was explained, ppl can edit there hype and this doesnt count as a new vote as the person already had hyped the game they just edited it,I know I did with another 1 of these damned hype DF thread's,ppl just get tired of it and that is why it has dropped so much in the last hour or so.

Why not? I know I voted as a reaction to this thread. However, the fact that I gave it a score of 1 did not have anything to do with this thread, but rather my opinion that this game has all the ingredients to suck.
Therefor I can believe that others reacted on it very much the same way. Also, the OP is a perfect invitation , or should I say "challenge" to other groups of fans - to downrate this game for the benefit of which ever game they "belong to".

No, it is not nearly impossible for that to happen. In fact, I'm willing to bet that your little recruitment drive pissed off many people and backfired, resulting in a number of people who voted previously (I being one of them) lowering their hype of the game to counterbalance the fanboys creating multiple accounts to vote high for Darkfall and low for other games.
I also find it laughable that in your own words highlighted above you aren't familiar with the ranking system yet attempt to preach that certain staff have the ability to remove hype and are using it. Really, you're clutching at straws now.

hm... but still, 0.3 points need alot of points and someone of forumfall said the number of voters between the change from .6 to .5 didn't change at all.
Watching all the MMORPG.com crowd attack DFO's hype now only proves how damn annoyed you are that we won't shut up about the game already and constantly create spam threads/alternate accounts in an attempt to get noticed.
Ok...trying to rationalize this hype meter thing is like trying to convince a moon landing conspiracy theoriest that it really happened. So Ill try to use more simpler language here.
Mods do not have the power, authority, or programming ability to alter ANYTHING on this site that is outside the realm of the forums.
The only person who alters this website and change around graphics, ads, website design is a guy who doesn't even play MMOs as much as a "regular mmo player does." I know him. He hasn't even posted on the forums in two years. He could care less of hype meters and game rankings....and even care less about one mmorpg that is in development.
You scream foul and mods are abusing the hype meter and yet the Admin here has allowed Darkfall to be a prominent "Games in Development" forum feature. What does that mean? You see Darkfall on the bottom left of the forum page? Congratulations. 70% of all Games n Development doesn't have this luxury. If you want to visit the forums of upcoming games (and even some released games) you have to go to "Game List" then choose the game, then access the forum that way. But the staff here gave Darkfall a primetime spot right on the front page of all the forums. So let me ask you this silly question: If the admin and staff has Darkfall on a premium section of all forums where it is seen by EVERYONE, why in the hell would they alter the hype meter on this game? Common sense would dictate if the staff wanted to screw with Darkfall, they could just remove it from the "Games in Development" premium section of the forums and stick another upcoming MMO in its place.
Use common sense before arguing the staff is out to get you. Like I said before, if really makes you out to be a sore looser. A really really bad one. And Im not saying this against all Darkfall fans because I personally know of a LOT of darkfall fans who are great people.
I am directing this to the few on these forums who make the darkfall fans look bad. Its not fair to them and you really need to stop this nonsense

Yes it did, like I said earlier; I watched it drop from .6 to .5 with 4 more voters registered when I casted my vote.
And now it's down to 7.04 and 7 new registered votes since then. Also, again... people can change their votes which wouldn't change the number of registered voters.
Nothing against you, but if you're so annoyed by Darkfall and it's fans, why are you posting in/reading the Darkfall Forums here?
I'm not annoyed by Darkfall at all, but what I am is annoyed at *certain* fans and fanboys who really are bordering on spam with their threads, creating alternate accounts, coming up with conspiracy theories etc.
@Lydon: Just to let you know: I'd never create a second account for this. And I mostly believe this action won't do anything niether good nor bad. It was just for fun and I believe most other people who gave Darkfall a 10 agree on that.
If this really happened correctly and was not influenced by the mods (which I just have to believe you for now since I'm not that familiar with the mmorpg.com ranking system), I don't have anything against it. We will never know whether it went on correctly or not so it's kind of senseless now.

Always hating on instances in MMOs! Open worlds, open PvP, territory control and housing please. More persistence, more fun.
No, Blixa. A higher mod cannot even change it.
You really are making the fanbase look bad here. To think a Mod or staff is altering the results because it is going down makes you to be a sore loser. If I were another fan here, I would seriouly pm Blixa and tell him to cool it with this conspiracy theory. Its really making you all look bad.
This "conspiracy theory" wasn't even made by me but most people over at Forumfall agree with it. And come on... falling by 0.3 on 1/2 hour... yea right
well, then, if what you say is true (and I highly doubt that based on your post history here) then "most" of Forumfall are sore loosers.
If you are so sore and bent out of shape over this (and apparently you are...I havent seen anyone cry this bad in years) have forumfall create their own little hype meter.
I swear..I think Im trying rationalize to a Junior High Schooler.
Sorry, but I really don't care that much as you try to make it sound. I just believe it's a little "strange", nothing more. But maybe you're right, maybe it really was a coincidence.
Anyway, we won't find that out anytime soon.
dear oh dear
If you read the thread it was explained, ppl can edit there hype and this doesnt count as a new vote as the person already had hyped the game they just edited it,I know I did with another 1 of these damned hype DF thread's,ppl just get tired of it and that is why it has dropped so much in the last hour or so.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Watching all the MMORPG.com crowd attack DFO's hype now only proves how sore they are that the game is starting to get noticed.

EDIT: Oh look, down to 7.04
No, it is not nearly impossible for that to happen.

Fixed.
Fixed.
Nothing against you, but if you're so annoyed by Darkfall and it's fans, why are you posting in/reading the Darkfall Forums here?
Ok...trying to rationalize this hype meter thing is like trying to convince a moon landing conspiracy theoriest that it really happened. So Ill try to use more simpler language here.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Yes it did, like I said earlier; I watched it drop from .6 to .5 with 4 more voters registered when I casted my vote.
And now it's down to 7.04 and 7 new registered votes since then. Also, again... people can change their votes which wouldn't change the number of registered voters.
I'm not annoyed by Darkfall at all, but what I am is annoyed at *certain* fans and fanboys who really are bordering on spam with their threads, creating alternate accounts, coming up with conspiracy theories etc.
It's to 7.04 now
@Lydon: Just to let you know: I'd never create a second account for this.
