I think WOW takes the biscuit, i cant quite say what or why just when i look at the two im liking the WOW pics better, They look more clean and well configured. Im not saying the EQ2 graphs r lame they r still good but i feel the WOW p;ics r better, i prefer them alot more.

Well in for the two original pictures, WoW looks much better. Though WoW's characters are pimped out in armor and EQ2's characters have no equipment on.
But after playing both, I like EQ2's much better.

I can't wait 'til the games are released and all the annoying petty fanboys arguing for their game are disappointed because the other one was better. Unfortunetly, some of these guys are the stubborn type and will never admit it.
At first the 100+ threads a day were amusing, as the countless people brought this topic up and the -same- people had to add their opinions in every one of the topics. Now it's getting lame. What bothers me more is that fact that simple, innocent topics are always twisted into an argument over these two games.
Well, that's all I have to say. I'm going to go and start my own topic about with game is better. Come and say the same thing there, as you did everywhere else.
Based solely on the two pictures provided, the Night Elves by far look better then the Dark Elves. Even just looking at their faces (excluding the armor), you can tell there's a hell of a lot more detail in WoW's graphic style then there is in EQ2's.
For some reason the clay effect in EQ2 just annoys me so much. Sure the game looks great but, dammit, I cant get past that clay effect. To each his own I guess.

That's just a crappy game called "WANTED: A Wild Western Adventure". And their system specs are only a 850Mhz PC. Not a 5.5Ghz machine with 2GB RAM... HAHAHA... this looks better then EQ2. hahahaha!
Actually, Djin, I'd say that looks more like WoW than EQ2, even though I still "got" what you were trying to put across.
Although EQ2 has a far superior graphics engine... id have to say the WoW nightelves look better, theyre much more interesting to look at. EQ2, even though it looks good, is just boring.
I prefer EQ2, but I will admit to the things I don't like about its graphics:
- Models are too stocky, even non-dwarves. Strong does not have to equal short and wide. I thought barbarians were supposed to be tall, not stocky with short legs like a chimpanzee. This is a problem with lots of games nowadays. Call of Duty comes to mind.
- Female faces are too bitchy looking. I've decided it's mostly in the eyes and I can't seem to mod it out with the Character Generator.
- Elves are too elven-looking. Sort of like how Michael Jackson is too Michael Jackson-looking. Just too emphasized or something.
- Too much bump mapping, although that's probably a detail slider than you can take down some.
On the same token, things I LIKE about WoW's graphics are:
- Vivid colors. They really make some awesome dramatic effects with it.
- Great texture work. Although some are a bit low rez, generally I think they did a great job.
- Environments have a lot of character. In fact, the whole game has lots of character.

I thought barbarians were supposed to be tall, not stocky with short legs like a chimpanzee. This is a problem with lots of games nowadays. Call of Duty comes to mind. Based on the character generator - I would definitely agree. I thought I had seen screen shots where Barbarians were simply HUGE compared to others... but I don't get that perspective in the char generator. - Female faces are too bitchy looking. I've decided it's mostly in the eyes and I can't seem to mod it out with the Character Generator. I think this matches up with a similar complaint I have: the extremes on the sliders are far too narrow banded. If I want an extremely short or long nose - you can't get there using the generator. Like they have a 'governor' of sorts on what you can select. This may prevent people from making absurd characters, but it takes away from the entire customization process, IMO. - Elves are too elven-looking. Sort of like how Michael Jackson is too Michael Jackson-looking. Just too emphasized or something. Blech! I know what you mean, but a less nauseous example might have been polite. On the same token, things I LIKE about WoW's graphics are: - Vivid colors. They really make some awesome dramatic effects with it. - Great texture work. I don't need to expound on that! WoW was done exceedingly well - and this just from the ST. It may get better yet before release. They made the world feel precisely the way it felt in Warcraft. Sounds obvious - but I suspect it took a lot of thought/creativity to make match WC.
I honestly dont see how u guys are bashing EQ2's graphics, name another MMO with better graphics. Try as u may u wont be able to. It's fine if u dont like the graphics but to say they suck...i just dont see it.
As far as WoW goes, ya it has good cartoony graphics. But WoW is still a fun game! Yup, Me SpongeBob Squarepants and Kimpossible got 3lvls yesterday!
Stick to WoW kiddies, ill be on EQ2. claymation kicks cartoon ass anyday of the week! heheh

DnD Online sure has better graphics then EQ2... atleast their devs actually "try" to make their graphics look good.
EQ2's are just bland and unimaginative, lacking extremely in the detail department.
WoWs graphics are pritty cool , EQ2s graphics are more ''new'' in a sense and have a more realistic persona to them...i like EQ2s better. WoW's graphics are cooler but the engine looks outdated if you compare the enviroments with EQ2s. I just hope some of the high end armor is cool looking in EQ2 , which im sure it will be , i remeber in EQ i didnt like any of the more lower end gears physical appearance but once you get up there in levels the gear definetly starts looking pritty pimp.
After reading your posts on several forums Djin, why are you so bitter? I mean EQ2 graphics, and WoW graphics are different as night and day. Any forum that mentions EQ2 you are there and bashing...is you soon to be Ex-wife a SoE employee?
Something interesting about human characters is that if you try to do them realistic and miss they look more fake to the human eye because we know what we should be seeing. EQ2 looks like that to me, they tried to go real, missed and its like a huge slap in the face every time I see a screen shot.
WoW went the other way and it works. Our brain doesn't kick and and tell us something is wrong because it doesn't have a starting point to work from.
I worked on a real time lip sync system several (5+) years ago and we tried doing full smooth lip sync. It looked bad, because it was not perfect but was trying to be. We decided to just go with the good old cartoon style of open, close, about 5 total mouth shapes. That worked.
Not everyone is wired the same way, some peoples brains seem to not trigger on EQ2s style of tried to be real but missed. I expect they are the people who like eq2 better, they see it as more real without the huge backlash I get looking at it. I see WoW as looking more real (odd isn't it) because it doesn't walk up and slap me in the face every time I look at it, I can let myself sink into the world without getting kicked back to reality.
No one can ever win this argument, its all to do with how your brain is wired. I like some aspects of eq2s graphics, some of the monsters are cool, environments detailed but I just can't get over those character models in the screen shots. Who knows how good they look when they move, movement changes things.

Ohh, btw Djinn. D/L the EQ2 trailer with the new Cazic thule & dragon. EQ2's graphics technically own WoW's. But, that said I still prefer WoW's look.

To be honest both look amazing !
DnL, WoW and EQ2 all have awesome graphics.
Even though I like EQ2 graphics style a little better, I believe gameplay will be the decisive factor since they all look good anyway.
