I've been waiting for WAR for years and I was really excited when I was able to get into the open beta. After downloading 10gb's and installing the game, I have to say it F**cking sucks. WAR is a WoW clone and a bad one at that, the combat is slower, looting is a pain, the graphics/UI are the same and it's just plain boring. I'm not a big fan of WoW either, but I would much rather play it than spend anymore time in an unimaginative clone MMO with no innovation. I quit AoC in preperation for WAR, that was a bad move, even with all it's flaws AoC is still much better than WAR. I'm going to resub to AoC and just wait for all the people who jumped to WAR to come back after their 30 day sub is up.
I agree AoC is miles ahead of war in combat and gameplay. WAR is boring and a real grind to level, with the animation glitches and bugged mobs - the game is in a sorry state. AoC's revoluitionery combat mechanics really spoiled us i guess and WAR is a step backwards. Im playing AoC and loving it, the servers are jam packed.
The server I'm playing on is packed as well. I don't understand why everyone is saying the servers are dead, they are always Medium-High. I
I would not even bother responding to someone saying such. There are still people waiting in line to even get IN the beta. At this moment, they could probably lose over half the current applicants playing and still have enough stand-by's to fill the servers again. That isn't even a compliment really...its pretty standard for mainstream MMO beta's, honestly.
I find it funny that people complain about minor mob bugs and animation glitches. Hell, when WoW was first released picking herbs would crash the game. Walking in certain places would crash the game. Hell, I remember when the Eastern Kingdoms side of the server despawned ALL of the walls on Windrunner it was hilarious.
Warhammer, while it has its bugs, is in a better state then WoW and many other mmos were when they launched.

This is going to be a ton of fun, even more so than thus far, at head-start. I even got my favorite uncle interested in this game and he agreed to set up an account and play in a heart-beat after I discussed with him some of the key points of War.

That IS pretty bad. I mean....didn't Hellgate get shut down? Takes a pretty bad game to make a man play something that they can't even play. Hell, that suggests that you enjoy the box art for Hellgate more than WAR.

I see you weren't there when WoW was doing the new patching every teusday after launch, took then OVER a year to fix all the bugs. AoC was crap yes we all agree. WAR is simply using the basic mmo interface with a better twist on PvP and classes.

It may be the basic MMO interface, but I have to say it's the best implementation of that interface that I've yet seen.
The layout editor is awesome. Not just for the fact that you can move stuff around, but also that it snaps together (with defineable settings), can be moved in groups, can be scaled as a whole or per item, have windows individually turned on or off and locked or hidden, etc.
Auto-sorting loot bags with definable rules. A sweet guild interface. Open parties for easy grouping. The list goes on.
All of this without having to resort to XML editing or using an add-on that may or may not break on patch day.
I agree woth the OP to a certain extent. I don't think it's exactly a clone, but i do agree that the combat is painfully slow and very 'swishy swashy'.
Comparing games to wow is guess is unfair, Blizzard have had five years to sharpen their game and there were many many problems at launch, but when you've played a game like wow with such smooth gameplay and to me unrivalled combat mechanics, this to me is so far away from that that it has quite frankly bored me to death.
The public quests do look fantastic though and the fact that everything you do ultimately contributes to the outcome of the WAR is great ethics. But sadly that's not enough for me to want to play it which does frustrate me as i too have waited what seems an eternity to play this game.
But, where it's not right for some, it's perfect for others and good luck to them.

Thats funny - because I played WOW for 20 minutes before uninstalling it. I have played WAR for 7 hours so far.
I deleted this becuase it's negative about the game.. becuase after thinking about other peoples choices I know that other people have certain tastes for certain games so i'l just leave it at that.
