Sorry to break your bubble, but it wont happen.

Warhammer might just turn out to be yet another AOC, a failure.

I would NOT say that Warhammer actually causes harm to WoW, I'm not a WoW player but that's a fact you should know.

Alrighty; pass your wow timecards to me ;)

I seriously doubt WAR will make *that* big of an impact on WoW. Not every WoW player likes Warhammer. Not every Warhammer player likes MMORPG games - or online games in general for that matter. Sure it will be popular.. but WoW will most definately survive this storm - who knows, maybe it could turn out to be just a little rain like every other WoW killer.

    Games that have failed to dethrone WoW in the last few years;

    LOTRO

    Vanguard

    AoC

Can't wait to add WAR to this list.

The 10 million subscriber base includes Asia to which Warhammer has not yet been picked up. Therefore in reality, it won't happen. Warhammer will be a great game, and most likely take spot number 2. But unless it expands its horizons, it will fall short. And that's a fact! :P

Well it could fail but here is one sub that WoW won't have anymore. Now I just have to convince my cousins to join me in the 5 days I have left on my WoW account.... I like to continue to play the game with them but WAR is the best MMO ive played in a while and ive been around the block..... twice.....  Finally a game that has me addicted again, got tired of buying games and only playing them for a short time cuz they were just missing something.

I went to my old WoW guild's forums to see if any of them were moving to Warhammer.

There was not so much as a whisper of mutiny, just one thread with 3 posts from a guy who'd been in the beta.

No interest from them. I didn't post as I didn't want to rock the boat.

However it is expanding it's horizon.

They are the 1st to do a simultaneous launch in Europe, US, and Oceania.

WoW doesnt even have real Oceanic servers afaik.

They are also launching in Russia early 2009, I don't think WoW has Russian servers either ... ?

Then they will start working on the Asian region, so far they announced Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan.

I am not saying that WAR will be as big in Asia as it is in the West and Russia, but they will go there.

I never thought it would be possible, but with the quality and FUN game they have and the strategical moves they are making ( Oceanic and Russian servers ), their future looks bright, I dare to say they will surpass WoW numbers in the West ( with the Oceanic and Russian numbers included ).

Time will tell... Keep in mind also, that WoW isn't getting any younger and I doubt WOTLK will make it fresh and new enough to warrent players to stay.  If WAR plays as well as it has in it's Beta, the average bored WoW player will stray to WAR.  Trust me. ^.~

I understand your scepticism good Sir/Madam but Im affraid its very possible that WAR will be the new leader on MMO market - the game is fantastic (atleast for me).

Not AFAIK, only unofficial Russian servers ...

Why would they ( Russians ) otherwise make some EU servers the "Unofficial Russian Servers" ?

No WAR will not be failure, becasue he is already great success even with headstart (preorder start). Even that I do not think he will empty the WoW servers. What about a harm, Blizzard is really scared about that. This is the reson they release half of the WoTLK content in advance, Invite friend, and most such advertizing last months.

I don't think WoW will die at all...  It will still be very successful.  Just WAR will dominate. :)

You aren't aware of the servers planned to be in Hong Kong are you?

I do not have any illusions that Warhammer will topple WoW, but I think they've done a lot of things right.

Blizzard don't even have servers actually in Australia, but just fobbed off the Oceanic community with US servers labeled 'Oceanic'.

WAR is alright, from a lot of MMO's I have played I have enjoyed it a lot more then most.  but RvR is not really my cup of tea

its not going to kill WoW. because only WoW will kill WoW

  • pdxgeekpdxgeek Member Posts: 585

lol...this thread is funny. WoW could lose 2/3 of its entire customer base and it would still be a bigger success than WAR.

I preordered WAR and I'm planning on playing it but it's not going to come close to making Blizzard nervous.

If they lost 2/3 to War it would.

    Blizzard are nervous.
