We have to constantly hear about how games are not being targeted to more hardcore pvp players. There is finally a game that is targeted toward hardcore pvp players.
To that end there are so many games that you can play that have decent pve content.

I'm most likely mistaken, but I think the OP was rather clumsily trying to get across that he really likes the ideas behind Darkfall and wishes that there was another game that encompassed them, but in a less 'risky' environment.
Regardless of everything, I'd personally like to see the documented features in a sci-fi setting, but without player looting.

Rather than having every last economic unit spent on 3 optimum gearings you treat your belongings as you should - as scarce resources that you could lose at any moment. You save. You don't take out and risk what you can't lose. You have to think about what you are doing. Ooops the last one is the real kick in the nads, huh - yeah this is not for someone who wants to be a drone in front of the screen thinking is going to be involved in this game, sorry.
Everything you do in a FFA/full loot is a critical tactical decsision.
Clones save skill, not gear you lose all implants(and have to be killed twice).
With the exception of a few "insurance fraud" ships like Caldari cruisers net insurance won't replace the ship fully and no hope for recovering module costs which can be significantly in excess of ship costs.
You lose everything you have with you when you die in Eve - which is essentially full loot to the one who does the dying.
They have mechanics around it suited to Eve but if you undocked wrong it can be very painful and you learn.
That is the case even if the victor doesn't get everything you have and only what is left.

The biggest problem you have here is that you are assosiating the in-game cost of uber loot in games like WoW were you can never loose it. Items will not cost as much cash here due to the high turn-over rate.
I remember UO, you could literally walk in any direction, and find player vendors selling useful gear for dirt cheap. Games like this are not loot-oriented. It is gameplay oriented, meaning that your motivation for playing isnt to raid for some uber chest armor, is to raid for the fun of raiding. Yes, it sucks to loose your gear to a PK, but its a LOt more gratifying to have some jerk attack you, and you kill him...then you an take HIs stuff...muhahaha Karma

I agree with this! To explain it to the OP in a very easy way, it means. I could take you on in a pvp situation in my underware and and you could have have all the top notch gear and i still could beat you, due to me knowing how to play my toon and the particular skills i have.
I am for player looting but full-loot? Hmmmm... that will just make people carry garbage equipment because one thing is guaranteed in FFA PvP games. You... willl.... die.... and you will die repeteadly. Thats a constant.
So making people lose ALL their stuff? Thats a misstake. Should be like AC 1 where you lost a fraction of your most valuable stuff and the higher level you are, the larger that fraction was. That made death hurt, but wasnt devestating (like in Eve).

I see at this point really NO PROBLEM.... and belive me.... the Developers keep there way up, this is one of the features i love about Darkfall. The Developers do not encounder a big "sorry we will change" session after some petition, they wait and say "hey ... let them try first."

The Looting of 4 items for e. x. wouldn't be a problem. As far i knew you will also have a timed loot. Means you loot, and the gear will be you'rs and save for a period of time BEFORE the oponent get the access but at all - gear isn't really the benefti. Skills are - and skills you couldn't loot

Because it kill everything that is bad about current games and puts the onice back on the charachter development and removes the total dependency on items , same reason there is decay and the same reason they want to screw over the gold farmers.
The game is FFA PvP and full looting but with the size of the world and no way to know if you are better than someone else until you fight them it will not be as common as people think unless you are aking for it and uselessly cannot play the game.

what a great point! a flip side, this thread almost feels like a discussion now. I agree with you, why is it such a bad thing? my ideal would be a full pvp game with a good mix of item and skill. and a random drop loot system.
I still say that by the time Darkfall goes live you will either have
1) servers with no equipment loss
2) a system where you can "bind" a certain amount of items
3) an insurance system where if you pay for your insurance you respawn with the same items you lost.
lets be real no one wants to run to the armory after they die in a city siege to get a new set of armor. I think the Insurance system will be the most likely.

I will not run to the armory i will run up to the nearest guy i see picking flowers and kill him for his gear beofre running back to my corpse to find my attacker.
If no one is around I will head to the nearest humaniod NPC camp that uses armour+ weapons and kill them for their gear (NPCS drop what they are using in DF).
If neither option is available I will ask my clan for help in catching my killer and getting my stuff back.
I havent started to consider making my own new gear, buying gear in town, getting spares from the bank etc.
Although pre launch the expectation in the minds of many is that DF will be a violent non stop PvP game, the truth is likley very different and a much more cooperative world will eventually be formed due to the dependance of players on each other to succeed.

the game is going live in 3 months and it will be full loot - its not even being considered otherwise. Full loot is a core feature that was discussed and decided upon in 2003 or thereabouts. so I dont know wtf you are babbling about.

Its not hard to earn equipment. You just kill someone else and get theirs. Then someone else kills you and gets yours and so on and so on.
Its a cool concept. What you are doing is trying to turn DF into a WoW clone. Don't we have enough WoW clones out there already?
