Forget about the fact that this game is no where even remotely near the 40 million dollar products like WoW or War currently dominating the industry are, forget about the fact that based on all known info to date it looks like nothing more than a generic functioning combat system with dated graphics and poor animations
Funny that Darkfall has considerably better graphics than both WOW and War and both of those games are a success. Hard to see Darkfall also not succeeding given how many more features it has.
Anyone else think the OP is Catizone/Teedle/the persistent fail-troll that Tasos reported on all those years back? I thought he'd given up when he saw how good the video was, lol.
People said the same thing about Vanguard. Kekeke

How many people are going to pay an EXTRA monthly subscription in todays economy to play a mediocre at best product like Darkfall with nothing but questionable features , support, community... when they can (and already are) pay to play War or WoW , Lich King which are all proven products with millions of players, quality support and no questions about their longevity or product stability? Darkfall is not a product waiting to launch.. it's a product waiting to fail.
We shall see what the economy is like in ten years time when the game, MIGHT release!
I dont know what the people who said that had been smoking. But everyone with half a brain was aware that the people behind vanguard came from EQ and it would probably be somewhat like EQ, so most of us thought it woul be shit, and it was.
I dont know about you, but the norm right now being 15$ a month and I will end up playing 40+ hours in that same time frame. Sounds like a good price per hour for entertainment. I cant even get that with cable.
I dont know about you, but the norm right now being 15$ a month and I will end up playing 40+ hours in that same time frame. Sounds like a good price per hour for entertainment. I cant even get that with cable.
Within a month, buying about 4 pints of beer would be the equivelent to the subscription of playing an mmorpg.
BUT THE 4 BEERS!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Started playing mmorpg's in 1996 and have been hooked ever since. It began with Kingdom of Drakkar, Ultima Online, Everquest, DAoC, WoW...
This is hardly the worst economy ever. Banks were doing some stupid stuff and it caught up with them. Now things have to settle out. Times may be a bit harder but ups and downs are normal.
Also entertainment tends to do well in bad economic times due to the fact that people want a release form money pressures. Some people are thinking video games will be what movies were for people during the depression.
Forget about the fact that this game is no where even remotely near the 40 million dollar products like WoW or War currently dominating the industry are, forget about the fact that based on all known info to date it looks like nothing more than a generic functioning combat system with dated graphics and poor animations, forget about the fact that it doesn't even have any solid dates for a Beta or a launch less than 3 months before the end of the year... and you still end up with the fact that it will be trying to succeed and make $ in one of the worste world economies ever... surely one of the worste ever in the United States where basically all of it's player based would come from.
So much wrong with that one little block of text. The U.S. represents only about half of their fans, a little more than half actually, based on several polls, and the worst econemy ever? Give me a break, come back to me when we are at Great Depression level.
The "generic combat system" is lighyears ahead of any current combat system in an MMO, and the "dated graphics" you're talking about was one raw footage video at medium low settings. Fail more troll. I guess the vaportrolls that haven't coverted have just turned into "Well... it exists... but... it'll suck!"
Again you fail at trying to bash DarkFall. You fail because your just a wide eyed Fanboy brainwashed into believing that "SUCCESS" is the "ONLY" possible outcome for DarkFail Online when in REALITY the odds of it's total failure are MUCH MUCH higher. You have yet to bring up anything note worthy to back up one of your assumptions. Or MAYBE you just like looking the other way and avoiding any valid points that paint your love child who can do no wrong in a negative way? Nothing of worth? How about the fact that this thing thing has been around since 2001 and all it has to show for it less than 3 months from a supposed commercial launch is a mediocre scripted gameplay trailer showing nothing more than a combat simulator with poor animations and graphics from 2003.. Aparently your sole factor in believing the game will fail is because 1) you don't like it and 2) you didn't develop it . I am sorry to point this out TenSpotting but your in the minority on these forums. Who cares about who is what on these forums? I suggest you go over to a site like gametrailers.com for example and see what the general public thinks about that terrible excuse for a video they released a while back. All MMO's are going to face the same problem getting American subscribers. I guess you didn't realise other MMO's charged a monthly fee..... Wrong. Games like Warhammer and WoW both do not have to face any kind of uphill battle with their product because 1. They have huge existing consumer bases consisting of millions of people waiting to play their new games. 2. Have ridiculous amounts of marketing money. War spent close to a million dollars alone on marketing. I haven't seen 1 single ad advertising this Darkfall game EVER.. anywhere.. less than 3 months to a commercial launch. lol
U.S. worst economy? NAH. I believe we're still #1... Even though things look bad, it'll prob be bad for 1-2yrs... We will eventualy bounce back even stronger. Bush really did screw us/U.S over though (think he should be banned form the country). BTW I'd like to mention if a game is a success in the U.S., it'll be a success all over the world.
They do not depend on USA. They have the entire world beyond the USA to buy their crappy products.
Wrong. We're their biggest buyer of goods. Anyways China will fail when they can't feed/support everyone in their country... Not too mention they lead the world in homeless.

Question 1- Why do you care? You seem to hate the idea of Darkfall, thats fine, but why do you care if others dont share your opinion.
Ok, that was my only question.
But to say that Darkfall is hosed because of the economy but other games arent is ridiculous. Will some people not be able to afford an online game because of the troubles, absolutely, but they would not be able to afford any online game.
You talk about the marketing of WoW and Warhammer and how because of this they have a huge player base and this i agree with. But Darkfall does not have to do that much marketing because it appears that they are shooting for a much smaller player base. Darkfall will be a niche game, not a mainstream game and as long as the developers know that and are planning for that they will be fine.
People will continue playing these games though reguardless of the economy. 15 dollars a month is really a pretty small amount when you consider that it costs nearly as much to go to the movies once (more if you actually want popcorn and a drink), is equal to 3 stops at McDonalds, is far cheaper then one night at the bar, etc etc.
You hate the game, thats cool. But no need to make junk up trying to prove to people that they should hate it too.
I dont know about you, but the norm right now being 15$ a month and I will end up playing 40+ hours in that same time frame. Sounds like a good price per hour for entertainment. I cant even get that with cable.

1. Forget about the fact that this game is no where even remotely near the 40 million dollar products like WoW or War.. Who Says it needs to have millions spent on it to succeed? Every company starts somewhere and just because they are relatively unknown to the world they may be well known in their own right.

6. surely one of the worste ever in the United States where basically all of it's player based would come from.. I disagree with you. Exactly 50% of the playerbase wil be from Europe and 50% will be from the US.
One guy from Boston and one guy from England.
Just kidding!
But seriously, there's going to be a lot of people playing this and I'm going to be one of 'em. To be perfectly honest, I'd pay $49.95 per month to play this game and wouldn't bitch at all.

No I personaly know there is a chance it will fail like any game in development. I don't think it will though it has the feature list I have wanted for some time and the graphics are great. If you prefer MMO's for Dummies which is what WoW feels like to me thats fine it's just not my cup of tea. The MMO for Dummies isn't meant as an insult I just see it as to simple and it is that anyone can play. This point is emphasised by the "Stars" that play lol (William Shatner, Mini Me, Mr. T. oO I am honestly suprised they havent had a Paris Hilton commercial yet).
You havent had any Valid points unless there's some post of yours I may have missed. You compare the graphics to Atari, when they sign a contract with a publisher and a server host you call it Vaporware, when they release a video of pure in game footage you complain because it isn't the cenematic garbage other gaming companies release to try and make there game look better than it is. I mean honestly where are your Valid points? The stuff you spew is about as much based on Facts as the belief of the Hail Bobet cult. You know those guys that believed if they cut of there Nads drank some special koolaide and die they will magicaly bored a space ship trailing a comet.
As far as the graphics from 2003 lol atleast your not saying Atari anymore but still the graphics look better than anything from War or WoTLK ive seen and I like a lot of it a lot better than Age of Conan.
Who cares about who is what on these forums? I suggest you go over to a site like gametrailers.com for example and see what the general public thinks about that terrible excuse for a video they released a while back.
Again I am sorry you were expecting more cinematic garbage that never represents how the game will actualy look. As far as who cares about who is what on these forums? well simply put you do. Thats why your here constantly trying to make people agree with you with your bias'ed truthless statements. And to back this fact up your trying to get me to go to a sight where people are compairing game trailers...... DarkFall in game footage vs cinematic game trailers hmmm..... Yep I would have to say it would fail in comparison.... Had you said game footage vs game footage I may have went.
Wrong. Games like Warhammer and WoW both do not have to face any kind of uphill battle with their product because
1. They have huge existing consumer bases consisting of millions of people waiting to play their new games.
2. Have ridiculous amounts of marketing money. War spent close to a million dollars alone on marketing.
I haven't seen 1 single ad advertising this Darkfall game EVER.. anywhere.. less than 3 months to a commercial launch. lol
I guess your right on this point. Except you fail to point out theres over 140k people waiting to play DarkFall. The 140k is just registered forum users. Many many more are waiting for beta and launch. You really don't know how these things work do you? With the ammount of money spent advertising for so long and so hard for WoW and Warhammer they create a need for all that extra income. If they didn't have it they would fail because they shot themselve's in the foot. 200k players paying 15 dollars a month = 3mil a month x12 months = 36 mil a year. See what I did there.... It's called math. 200k player base isn't unrealistic at all for DarkFall. So...... While they may not have done the marketing the other companies have they certainly have a substainable player base lined up and waiting........36mil in the first year with out a huge marketing budget seems like a good deal to me. How bout you? The above math never took box sales or digital download sales into account either.
Sadly thats not counting the DarkFall spain forum or any of the others so...... or any that are waiting for actualy launch or beta to commit.
You see my point is you continuasly make these claims about DarkFall being Vaporware and when it became evident that this is more than likely not the case you switched to it will fail. In niether of these instances have you given anything that can even be remotely seen as evidence to back up these statements. I am truely and utterly sorry that you don't like DarkFall. It may seem to difficult for you and it may look like it will take some of your friends that play other MMO's with you (Assuming you have any friends which..... Is a giant leap for me to assume) but thats life move on.
Sigh, large threads full of multi-colored posts, I hate em.
Cutting to the quick, we all have to deal with the "worst world economy ever" so Aventurine is no different.
But since gaming is such a bargin, it might actually increase subs more than if the economy was booming and everyone was out jet-skiing and clubbing in the islands.

Darkfall Travelogues!
dont forget sig the vid was extremly compressed too so it lost alot in the compression
If it's unique and refreshing i will pay to play it. I wouldn't touch WoW and it's clone with a ten foot pole.

With all the tainted crap coming out of China now I doubt the rest of the world will be buying from them much longer.

When you owe a bank $50,000 they own you.
When you owe a bank $50,000,000,000 you own them.
Think about it.
Seriously though if anyone thinks the economy wasn't worse during the great depression we need to send them to re-education camps.

Is a giant leap for me to assume) but thats life move on.
so ironic... even china has p2p mmos and your qqing about your economy? mabe you shouldnt go to mcdonalds 8 times a day...
