Is this another example of Aventurine's revolutionary approach to marketing? Not acrtually tell people the release date. In fact, is the only mention of this Jan release date in the MMORPG interview?
Try their official news forum. Or maybe the news paper which it was published in also.
And maybe look there first from now on before jumping on the hate bandwagon.

Forum? Why is it not in the news section of the DF website? And which newspaper? Was it reporting the comments from the MMORPG interview? I think Tasos just came up with the release date off the top of his head to prove the MMORPG doubters wrong.

I think his point is that if you actually have to 'search' to find the release date of a game it means something is wrong. This game feels more like a player-made mod for NWN then it does a MMORPG (as far as professionalism and marketing).
While nobody wants to see games like AOC and Warhammer where they hype to eternity and then fail to deliver a good game. A real gaming company, after 8 years of development, would at least have a huge banner on it's website announce the release date of it's game and would have up-to-date feature lists on it's website.. not something that is 50% inaccurate and from 5 years ago.
I'm still calling vaporware. What will be available in january will not be what many people think of as a MMORPG launch... it will feel more like a UO private server run from someone's garage. Customer support? LOL Patch notes and PTRs? LOL 24hr server maintenance? LOL
This is a God-send game from up above to Tasos. So we shall follow what Tasos says, we shall never - I mean never - question Tasos and his God-send game which is one of a kind and above of all those MMOs now and the next 1000 years. We shall not seek 'truth', we shall not ask for anything besides holy mighty Tasos gives us, provides us...
If you have doubts, questions about this God-send game from up above, still holy mighty Tasos and his followers might just forgive you, as long as you dont go ahead and search for answers...

on a completely unrelated news, do you know who ALSO never updated their web site and never talked with their future customers? GOA!
"the account manager will be up on time" well, guess what? it wasn't!
Do I want to make a parallel here between GOA and Aventurine? No, not really, but it IS true that we Europeans lack in the customer service department sometimes, maybe this is a sign of that. No website updates because the customer is required to actually dig for the info himself.

Imo those that believe in DF should just ignore the thread tbh. There is simply no argument that makes this a good thing or even acceptable so why try to fight for a losing corner.
Accept that these devs simply suck ass when it comes to communicating with the public.

Very true. DF can turn out to be what it promises, but Tasos will still remain somebody who pissed off a lot of people in the mmorpg community from his interview with mmorpg.com
A clear sign of a lack of professionalism, a lack of attention to detail. These factors have always equaled a 2nd (or 3rd) rate game. Atleast they aren't lying to this community. Then again, closed beta testers have been offly quiet...kind of like.....aoc.... HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Im just stirring up trouble, don't pay attention to me.

My guess is every geek actually checking out Darkfall reads boards anyway and knows the date.
All others are not geeky enough to want to play it NOW anyway.

As for the release date, way to epic fail... it actually IS on their website, and was announced there FIRST.

Hmm... first off, development has been going on for 5 years, not 8.
Second off, you do a google search for Darkfall Release Date, you get the entire front page hits to IGN documenting it, Aventurine documenting it, AV documenting it, MMORPG.com documenting it, I guess you just failed at google.
And lastly, you have a minor contradiction there. You said you still think this game is vaporware(something seriously wrong with you) and then you go on to say the game is going to release. Do you know what vaporware is?

But...
Even you would have to admit that putting it on the HOME PAGE of the web-site and in the NEWS section of the HOME PAGE makes a lot of sense, and is what any of us would do if we had admin rights to the web-site. How can anyone try to spin that it's a good thing that the Release Date.... the only specific release date that DarkFall has EVER given... is not in BIG, BOLD, FLASHING characters as soon as someone visits the site?
The NEWS sections of the Forums is at least something I guess. The way the Home Page is, with it's out-dated FAQ section and lack of up to date info... they would be better just making the Home Page BE the Main Forums. That's where you have to go to find any informatin anyway.
They are not too sure about the release date. They know the followers that read the forums will remain more or less the same if the release date would change. Sure some more flames and discussions but that is not all too bad either.
But... if they change a date that was on the main page, that could attract gaming sites attention and more media covering, articles, saying how they have postponed the game again. Not a good thing

Yes it would be. It took them like a month after beta started to pit the big shiney beta button up there. I think the difference between me and you is I find the lack of advertisement (after such flops as Age of Conan) as a good sign, and that after a few years I am very used to how differntly Aventurine operates (and believe me, no one is really HAPPY about how they operate, with minimalist info, but I'd rather have that than them running around making claims about the game they can't support "cough cough AoC"
