    LOTRO is not challenging.
I was asking about a good PVE game, not an almost tolerable one.

You must be on dial up, because Vanguard has no such lag.

You must be mistaken, I use cable.  Vanguard has such lag.

LOTRO does not.  WoW does not.  EQ2 does not.  WAR does not.  Atlantica online does not.  AoC does not.  Vanguard is the only game that does.

I play Vanguard and LOTRO. I get much better performance in Vanguard. I play Vanguard with all settings on high, but I can't do that with LOTRO. Maybe you're talking about chunk lines?

PVE Servers would go against the entire main ethos of the game, and so are very very unlikely indeed.

i dunno much about Vanguard but its one big world without instance right?

That mayb explain little lag for some and not in lotr that have instance.

And pve server for darkfall never gonne happen plenty of carebear games outthere that have them.

    Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009.....
In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.

No PvE servers, even if this game does by some remote chance launch Aventurine won't give you PvE servers.

Becouse you saw some screens shots a movie?

This game dare to be different then almost all other games released in past 6 years and you say its avarage have you play it NO, your just a hater who take any chance to talk negative about a game you dont even gonne play.

    Affraid your themepark gonne suffer?

If it is like saying that, then what sort of population do we expect to have in DF?
I wouldn't mind a non-full loot server personally, but I'd be opposed to a PvE server.

Arguments about carebears ruining game, etc aside..

I don't think a PvE server in the game could function. The game is pvp centric, and designed around full loot, clan warefare, and no instanced areas. On a PvE server, you gather 40 people to kill a huge boss, another group steals your kill - you call it a night and leave? How would the clan system work? the first 50 people to get all the clan spots have city forever? On a PvE server, or one without full loot, the skill based combat would die out, if gear becomes an intregated part of your chracter, oppose to sort of a "buff" that is fully lootable and available to everyone if they can get their hands on it, then the game would become gear-centric, and it would not be in aventurines best interest to do this.

I agree that in many cases with games, having PvE servers simply attracts more customors, and you have less sheep on pvp servers - but in this game it simply wouldn't work I'm afraid.

No. As far as we know there is plenty of PvE content. Just none of it is instanced - so PvP will also play a roll in PvE. there is a difference between a PvP oriented game, and a game without PvE.

As I already stated on the official forums and as its probably already been said here, Darkfall is designed around global domination via pvp, crafting/building and some forms of diplomacy. To remove pvp would disable most of the features from the game.

Furthermore, I'd like to believe there is enough pve and dungeons to be done in Darkfall that would exist in a common mmo, but I seriously doubt there is - especially at launch. I'm betting the devs are expecting pvp to keep us occupied for quite a while and therefore haven't spent a lot of time on things like grand-scale raid dungeons that have been popular in other games. I personally would like to see a raid progression in Darkfall because it always provides guilds with competition and a reason to war. Call me sick, but contested dungeons have always provided the best drama for pvp over the years.

I hope I'm wrong and time has been invested in a fun dungeon/raid side to Darkfall, but I somehow doubt there is yet. The game is simply all about pvp.

If you guys dont like the FFA concept then there are other games to pick from the left side of your screen there, if the WOW noobs and carebears who have never played a FFA PVP game before cant handle it on the same server and use their goddamn head for once then they really don't need to be there..

You are missing the point. There might not be enough hardcore pvpers to keep the game going. Just look at Shadowbane. It is a very similar  game. And there are only 2,000 people playing it.

I've played Shadowbane and there are enough people playing to take over every place on the entire map and continue fighting wars to defend property.

We shouldn't be suprised at people requesting things like PvE servers for this game. If they haven't done the research to see what kind of features are going to be in the game at release then I don't know what to tell them.

Expect more off the wall/crazy ass requests like this up until release. Brace yourselves because there will be an entire swarm of crazy request/demands from people who don't like to pvp ever trying to persuade the developers to change the game. They might be decent suggestions but the game was not designed to fit a linear storydriven quest system.

Be ready for the "shockers" who come in and claim they didn't know Darkfall was based mainly on pvp and start whining about how the game "should be".

the game exists as a charity case with no new content being added.

I agree, there is still plenty to do in Shadowbane. It has carved itself into a dedicated niche and has a small following.

Shadowbane's failure is less about the FFA PVP nature of the game and instead is the result of poor implementation and lack of polish.  I really enjoyed the game, almost left DAOC for it, however the unstable, laggy servers and a couple of bad game mechanics drove me from the game.

IMO, darkfall should stay true to it's original intention.  The mmorpg industry as a whole can watch this game to see how well this game model will perform (earn money) in the era of WoW.  It should be a pure situation and now muddied up with pve servers.  IF (big if) this pure situation becomes a hit or a failure, the industry will take notice.

If the situation is not pure, any results can be pointed at pve servers or pvp servers as the causal entity for the end results.  Say it's a hit, pve players could not say it is the pve servers that were the reason while the pvp players could say it's the pvp server.  Having a clean and clear single path is better than a debateable one.

Ya its exactly like what the PvP'ers did in past games, come to PvE game in entire swarms with crazy request/demands from people who don't like to pve ever trying to persuade the developers to change the game. They might be decent suggestions but the game and classes was not designed to fit a strong pvp centric game.

(This is copied and pasted with a few words changed from above.)

My point is, BOTH SIDES PvE and PvP fans are always trying to change the game to fit their liking. It shouldnt work like that but it the past some game devs give in to the whinners. Its really sad in games where people dont realize the game is not for them and whine and cry about it. There have been a few PvE games ruined by the PvP'ers coming on the boards in droves to cry about class balance, when other issues need fixed but the devs give in and patch after patch deal with nerfs and buffs. In PvE games classes are not suposed to be balanced. Their suposed to be strong and weak points.

So now I raise the question will DF devs cave in and give different rule sets on servers to fit the mass or stay true to their vision. Know one knows, time will tell. I think it would be fitting to have the PvE'ers ruin a hardcore PvP game for once. I am going to try DF regaurdless of what happens after all this sqaubling. I personally dont care if they do different types of servers ( i doubt they will), but im not going to cry about FFA pvp server.

So we can just say that the PvE and PvP people share the same server and everyone is happy : )

But seriously, why wanna take away the PvP from a PvP game??? Thats like removing the PvE from a PvE game.

The PvE'ers wont be happy. That is why they are lobbying to get a PvE server or a sever with a ruleset on it.
