Why you should NOT play DFO
yes yes so the title looks initially like troll bait, but just ignore it. The trolls and fanbois provide a pit of humor into posts... no matter how increasingly annoying it my be.
So back to the subject. Everyone seems to be hell bent on why you want to play this game, or why not. Then there is of course the QQ the game is not coming out because DFO hasn't released any other info.
Sorry back on track.. just praying that these forums won't COMPLETELY turn into the mass chaos like on the official forums... shutter.
Here are some reasons why you SHOULD NOT play DFO:
1. If you never truly tried PvP, or better yet you prefer PvE. You will loose your gear, you will die many times, you will be camped and the more you whine the more you will die.
2. You are a pure soloist. While this is still sorta plausible, the lack of guild and invitations to epic fights will leave you bored
3. If the words WoW, WoW clone, AoC clone, etc. come to your mind when thinking about DFO..
4. If you are one of those gamers who gripe about how hard something is or how OP a skill/spell is.
5. If you want to Bot.
I am probably missing many reasons, but feel free to correct me.
On the other had you SHOULD play if you:
1. Enjoy games like Shadowbane, or played any other MMOs just because the PvP was fun.
2. Enjoy hate tells, and QQers more than anything, just because it is fun as heck to kill em.
3. Will go out of your way to find gold farmers, hunt them, see who they talk to, who they group with and promptly begin a kill list.
4. If you are willing to play a game based on guild ruled politics, spying and backstabbing.
5. If you are absolutely sick and tired of the trash that has been produced in the past several years by "MMO" makers.
Please feel free to correct me if I missed any as well lol

At first I thought this was gonna be a strait up troll thread but I was pleasently surprised to be wrong. I agree the true carebears, not the ones that the fanboys insist must be from WoW, should stay away. I love politics so I hope to get in a guild with major political influence.

Exactly, though there will be some WoW players that will be able to make there home DFO, so i should have been more specific.
This will be the intersting part. At lauch the server/s will be chaotic... and probably that way until the guilds begin to make the "rules." Simalirly, each server will be very different.
Game's not for me then!

What do you mean you shouldn't play this if you want to bot? This is a game almost unintentionally designed to make great use of botting or scripting.. it's skill system is incresed with use. And.. the WoW clone thing I have no idea what you're talking about.. because this is as far from WoW as you can get... just about. Also, this game should be a lot more solo friendly than your typical theme-park game.. Ultima Online was pretty solo friendly. But.. their guild system was really weak so I could see that as causing a problem... maybe.
But yeah.. just about everything else is ok if you're looking at it from an unbiased point of view.. which is my specialty.. I still don't think Darkfall is going to release here any time soon... but I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong.

that is why i stated that if you THINK this is a WoWclone (i still hate saying that sorry all) you SHOULD NOT play. =P
Bot: if you bot you will be found and deleted by other players.. no matter how good your scripting is lol
Solo in PvE is nice and dandy. WHat i am getting at is those how play MMOs and are very unsocial. Mostly those who whine saying they can't solo thier way all the way up the chains. You can solo in PvE decently, but this game is geared towards PvP.. and most will not be alone.
If it releases then fantastic... if not, then it will give us somthing to look forward to again LMFAO

UO never figured out how to remove boters. Want me to list how many skills I raised from 0 to 100 overnight? Stealing, fishing, parry, music, meditate, peace etc etc.. Heck, besides crafting, I can't think of many skills that I didn't raise from unattended macroing.
WOW had problems for it's first 2 years with hunter-bots.
You think the darkfall team is going to be able to do what UO and WOW couldn't do ? heck, these guys can't even figure out how to update their webpage.

you should not play if you wish to build your own empire with it's own rules , it's own army, it's own economy and millitary wing that will crush rivals and burn their houses down

Mostly agree with the OP, except on the first point.
Just because one hasn't PvP'd before, doesn't mean Darkfall shouldn't be their first PvP experience - in my first MMO's I was ganked and looted numerous times before I found my feet, yet it never put me off.
Perhaps you should replace it with; "if you're the type to give up instead of improve and adapt"

Think i am kinda spoiled anyway. The wife always plays with me usualy druidish/rangerish pair. Never being caught alone has is bonuses
I'm just will be lurking in the shadows, trying to be there the moment you will be laughing to jump on you, backstab you and get a two handfull of items...and of course i'm not going to laugh, just fade in the mist.

I particularly enjoyed the comment about the WoW/WAR/AoC clone. I remeber seeing one post that essentially made the argument that auto attack and button mashing with a class system was the same as aimed attacks with a class system. >_<. He said since the damage will work out the same in both you are just wasting time aiming and that people will point their skills all in the same directions forming effectively classes. Even if they were true, that means games where people do damage and fill simmilar roles are like WoW T_T. THAT MEANS EVERYTHIGN IS LIKE WOW!!! It was rather fail.
Also I was expecting it to be a troll but was suprised when they were legitimate reccomendations for who should not play the game. I guess the YOU is what realy got me thinking this way. I wonder if I would have considered it trolling if it had a more apparent bias twoards disapproval of Darkfall. Im not going to worry about it.
2 is why I may not play...
I just really don't have the time to devote to a guild, at least the kind of guild I want to be in. If they had something like WAR, where you could joing a public group(like Warband); then it would really make me feel alot better about it. This game isn't set up like that though. The factions are controlled by the players, not the company who develops the game.
I guess it really depends on how good the gameplay is. If it sucks me in like some other games of the past, I may cut out a little social life and devote a little more time to the game. It would have to be damn good though, and I really don't see it being that good at this point.

but yes i agree the whole concept of people calling everything now a wow-clone drives me crazy. Blizzard is a great studio... but come on there has been years of MMOS before wow
