It strike's me as funny that some poster's are still saying things like they are happy to get the trial or that they are happy with the delay so the game is ready.
Are people missing 1 big thing here?
Tasos said the game would release on the 22nd of Jan,then 1 week before he suddenly realise's that they havent stress tested the game or indeed they dont have what it takes to let too many people into the test.
Did he wake up this morning and suddenly think "omg the server's,I never thought about them"
Also they always said they wouldnt have pre-order's early access but now they will????

At least they can admit that they need more time. Everybody is counting down to release. One side wants it to fail and is waiting to laugh. One side want to play what might be the next big game. Lots of games release before they are ready and we end up playing broken unfinished work. Lots of games have so many issues at launch that is blights them forever. This will set the tone for the life of the game so I am glad they are taking their time. It has been many years in the making, we can wait a bit longer. It is not costing us anything to wait/ Very few companies have the guts to make unpopular announcements and that says a lot for these folks. I don't know what the game is going to be like but at least they are not going to worry about being politically correct. They do things in their time, kind of like Blizard, and if you want what they got then you have to work on their time table. Remember the comercial, we will sell no wine before it's time.

All the delays and even bugs would not have been a problem for me .. but miss a release date and reward yourself pre-order money without try before pay ..isn't something i like,support or accept..

This is actually pretty good news for those of us that want to play Darkfall and want it to succeed.
Well we want to play DF. If we get in on 22nd then we win even if it isn't launch. If I don't I will be a little disappointed, but I start back to college next week anyway.
Like Tasos said, they got behind schedule. Obviously, they hadn't stress tested the servers yet and they didn't do an open beta today like was rumored. If they had started OB today, maybe they could have don the stress testing before 22nd., maybe not. So I don't really see the gaps here except for the pre-order. Even then, pre-orders are only bad if you don't try the game first. Tasos did say there wouldn't be pre-orders, but shit happens you know?

I fail to see how this is good news. Release date pushed back (1 month), change in policy regarding pre-orders smells all abit fishy to me. I see an Epic Fail happening here.

Did you miss that Tasos has repeatedly until now swore there would be no pre-orders, so that noone could accuse them of scamming? Guess it's time for the fanbots to rewire their perception so they can swear he never said that too.
Edit: Oh, I see from your previous posts that you already know he changed his mind suddenly on pre-orders. As you say "shit happens". it's attitudes like that from fanbots that enable games like Mourning and Dark and Light to fuck people over. Congrats.

Unless you were a doofus and didn't read the part where Tasos said that they can't let all 200,000 applications into open beta. Which means there are going to be a whole lot of people not getting in and not being able to play before paying.
Maybe I'm just going crazy.. but it doesn't seem like you actually read the article.
So.. you'll have to have one of your friends get the game and test it out.. assuming any of your friends actually play darkfall.

MMORPGS are not for the lads down the road to design, they take real investment, real servers.

Meh, you don't have to pre-order to do this trial...they just get priority. The testing is limited, and I would expect people who pre-order to get in first. I mean...can you imagine? Pretend you are super ready to play this game...so much that you pre-order it. Then, you can't even get into the testing because its already full with players that haven't even paid a dime...and probably won't be playing when it comes out anyway. THATS crap, and you all know it.
Pre-orders deserve priority on this one...end of story. If they did it any other way it would be a slap in the face to all of their devoted fans, the ones who WILL play, WILL pay, and have already decided to get a pre-order.
People either fail to read an entire announcement or simply don't comprehend what they are reading. There will be a trial and a ton of people will get in. How many we don't know. What we do know is that there will be a plethora of information about Darkfall pouring in.
Having said that. So what if they changed to a pre-order? Pre-orders is what alot of companies use to gauge their needs and IMHO that was a smart move. To bash that change is ridiculous and narrowminded. If you miss the trial, feel insecure about pre-ordering, then just wait until some honest player/webzine/magazine reviews come in then decide.
On a final note. Despite this delay this is really a blow to the hater crowd because on the 22nd the game should be made public. However, if it isn't made public then I believe that the hater crowd might be landing a huge counter.

Darth is putting his foot down because they basically want money from a ton of people who WILL NOT be allowed to trial the game.

I am not even going to say I told you so on this push back. I have gotten banned from MMORPG so many times for backing up my belief that Tasos is full of shit, that I honestly do not care to anymore.
We will all be right back here on Feb. whatever in the hell they want, for another pushback, see you all then.
This is why they continue to slap their fans in the face with last minute news and table scraps for updates.
Feb. 15th you'll get another delay announcement, and you'll likely say "Thank you sir. May I have another?"

Starting on January 22nd there will be a Darkfall trial with the distribution of the release candidate client allowing thousands of players to sample the game for free, help us stress test our servers and test the final features of the game

Did they all call in sick this week?
Lets be honest here if the release was 2 weeks away he would/should have known if the server's were ready,but in that week all they managed to do was set up a pre-order and early access system...
