Aion is the game for me. Darkfall, even if it does actually launch in Feb will just not appeal to me.

I'd need to see a lot more footage of Darkfall to make a final decision. Aion I've seen just about every footage released and a tonne of screenshots. So there really is no competition

Currently waiting for the MMO industry to put out something good.

Sure hope you stay in Darkfall then... one less retard in Aion.

    It's pretty straightforward...

    DarkFall == NO.

    Aion == YES.

    Why?

    Aion != Scam.

    Aion!

I know this game exists and have definitive proof of gameplay and graphics. Darkfall in my opinion has done nothing more than talk the big talk with no real substantial evidence ( too numerous) to back it up.

Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
    Playing EVE Online and AOC.
    Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD

    What year?

Also, you say "the best". That's a bold statement to make for a game you've NEVER even seen, played or read a professional review by someone that has actually experienced it.

I'd wait until I ACTUALLY saw the game before making claims of it being THE BEST!

    LOL!

    That's just me.

Tough call for me. Aion has some of what I want in an MMO, particularly 3-D and flying.

The same reason some of you don't want to try Darkfall is the reason I do want to try it.

I support independent developers all the way. It might not work out for more than a tiny niche of the market, but they don't try to make everyone happy.

I'm really sick of games that are too easy. The last three or four MMO's I've tried I can't seem to die. I can rush every encounter and only rarely do die. In other words, for me they're very boring. PvP answers that, but only if there is some PvP, and it's meaningful and fun. (not WaR)

So will Aion deliver the goods, when I know that NCSoft is famous for giving the players what they want, or should I give to an independent who won't have a perfect game at launch, but does have a vision of more than dollar signs.

    I'll try both most likely.

I would have to go with Aion since its an actual game lol.

I really love the look of Aion and the combat animations. I also think the character customization is awesome.

I am also interested in Darfall for alot of the features they are saying they are going to have such as wide world, Ship building, house building, A skill system etc.

And since no other games were considered, I am sure I will be playing Aion. For how long though is another question. I think are there are going to be some great games to choose from in 2009, and it will be hard to chose between them.

But for now Aion is my choice.

Maybe its just me.... but it seems to me that asking whether people like Aion or Darkfall better on the Aion forums is a bit silly.... just like asking whether people will like them on the DF forums.   Its pretty obvious the consensus will tilt towards the game the forums are for.    That said, I am anticipating Aion far more(no surprise there)  however, i would like to remind  people that Darkfall won the most anticipated game by a landslide(In all likelihood, the 20 or so DF fanbois went and made 300 more accounts to vote with)

It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay.

Personally I'm waiting on Aion.  I love the style and I've done plenty of research on the game and it's very appealing to me.  The character and armors are very customise-able (for lack of a better word).   I love the luxurious world and the attention to detail.

Darkfall isn't as appealing to me as I'm not a fan of FFA PvP, however like someone said before If all the features are in the game when it releases, then I'll give Darkfall a try too.

  • zurataizuratai Member Posts: 23

Neither. Aion just seems like the same old shit as any other mmorpg with "pretty graphics" and Darkfall has a shitty company that is unprofessional and well i just wouldnt pay 15 dollars a month for there unprofessional shit

  • zurataizuratai Member Posts: 23

Iam tired of people saying that darkfall made more accounts just to vote... seriously look how many people they have on there site at a time with barely in advertising the game o.0

    .---------------------------------------------------------------

Btw i was in beta of darkfall i thought the game was really good it has decent graphics the melee combat is ok its a little stiff but its ok. The AI are very smart seriously its hard to sneak up on those guys... i dont like the fact that i cant look around without turning. There is alot of people in the beta and its real trust me. The spell music is not very good there is only like 3 things for like all the spells and the melee sound is the same "clank clank ding bang" . All in all i give this game a 9/10 it could be alot better but its real fun

    --------LEAKED SPELLS----------

SHITBLAST---Melee spell that shots shit out of your ass and stuns a enemy that is approaching from behind

BITCHSLAP--- Slaps enemy with weapon and sends them flying 20.00ft

BUTTFUCK--- Requires enemy facing other way, sneaks up on enemy and butt fucks them.

Umm.... change your tune a bit? Did you really play in darkfall beta or are you just feeding another line of shit?  You can troll about Aion, but if you want to troll about DF, and then say you played it and it was an awesome game, take it to the Darkfall forums.  They'd appreciate it so much more over there.

At the moment Aion is ahead of my choice between it and Darkfall.

Aion has absolutely amazing detail, very very sick looking armor and tier sets, amazing graphics, amazing UI, with tons of features, being PvE and PvP (and RP?).

Darkfall lacks in the graphics department, and claims to have alot of features and gameplay (Alot which is only speculation), don't get me wrong, If darkfall does well I will be playing it, I love PvP, but the way it's looking now, I don't think it'll get far.

My personal choice at this time would be Aion.

I like the concepts of both, even though I am not counted among teh faithful of either. Neither has me hawt enough to pre-order...

    1. DarkFall needs to prove that it is nothing more than D&L 2.0, Engine, mechanics, and optimization-wise.

    2. Aion (ncsoft rather) needs to beat back (with a Jericho Missle System) their reputation as a bot friendly game developer.

I will sit on the sidelines for both for at least a couple weeks after their respective launches. And I do hope that both are great!

Aion! because it dosnt look like a hunk of garbage like DF

  • kalypsokingkalypsoking Member Posts: 6

comparing Darkfall to AION is like comparing a Lamborghini to a 1998 Chevy Cavalier.

Darkfall is the most miserable failure of MMO ever.

it literally looks like it was built by a bunch of stupid college kids using Torque and media they bought of off TurboSquid

Its a simple choice really. It has to be Aion. It doesnt require a rocket scientist to figure out why. I dont really need to explain but I think I will since im bored. :p

Production Value - Developed by NCSoft a highly successful game developer with several successful online titles. Linked to this if Funding. The company have it and a lot of money has been spent on Aion.

Art Style - Simply unquestionable. In terms of MMOs currently released, it is the best. Hands down. Brilliant armor, lots of world detail, badass looking mobs, etc ,etc.

Graphics - Aion may not have the most powerful engine, but its sufficient. The art style is just so good that any weakness in the actual graphical power of the engine is overlooked.

Sound - Beautiful soundtrack and respectable sound effects.

Content - Its almost all there now. 1-50, PvPvE and raids coming soon.

I could go on, but its pretty clear already why Aion is a far superior product. Comparing the two is a bit silly in the first place. Darkfall, while having its merits just requires so much more development/polish/content to get anywhere near Aion.

    Darkfall wins feature-wise, easily.

Aion wins in the quality and presentation department.

I honestly don't think Aion's core PvP will be that great however.  Because the Abyss system sounds just like WAR's RvR system.  Basically meaning epic fail.  A lot of people aren't considering those things yet, because they're still fawning over the rainbow eye candy and whatnot, thinking that's a surefire cause for a great game.

You'll probably learn the hard way.

if you go by the featuers listed on the website that haven't been updated in 5 years...i can put together a list of features I'd like as well that woudl blow all current and future mmo's out of the water...woudl i be able to implement them successfully, is another question.

Well alot of people are not hardcore PvP'ers. PvPing gets old fast IMO thus I only do it for casual fun. PvP does not make or break and MMO in my eyes unless its PvP based like DF will be.  But for the most part I agree with you, if your going to play Aion for PvP alone I would guess that ya you might be kind of dissapointed.

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
    Now Playing: N/A
    Worst MMO: FFXIV
    Favorite MMO: FFXI

Casual PvP gets old (arena's, scenarios, minigames, etc...)

Hardcore PvP never gets old (open world objectives like sieging for a clan (not faction) owned fort, fighting for a raid boss, for a leveling spot, or just against your rivals)

For me it is no contest.  Darkfall gives me freedom, I like freedom.
