1.04 Patch makes Age of Conan the WIN

I have to hand it to the Devs on this one, they did a GREAT job.

I have seen faces in Age of Conan today that I haven't seen in months.

The attention to detail in this patch is incredible - From the new PvP minigame interface, moving the PvP to better locations, to graying out the food buffs if you already have one active.

So far this afternoon has been a blast.

They really improved a lot on the graphics getting ready for the DX10 launch soon!

The new instances are really well done and a lot of fun.

Keep up the good work and I can hardly wait until 1.05 comes out with the new stat and gear changes.

Wow, what did they patch? Everything?

  • CrashloopCrashloop Member Posts: 885

There are some bugs with patch 1.04 tho, but once they fix those the patch rocks.

    1. guilds can dissipear for a time then come, back, guild chat works during this time so it is mostly a visual bug

    2. People have reported that sometimes it's not possible to invite other to groups

These are the 2 bugs I encountered.  Other then that things seems quite nice, people talking about lag spikes still, I only experienced 2 lag spikes, other then that everything was running fine. PvP players finally have a proper reason to be in cimmerian end and I do look forward to farm resources and fight over them :)

Did the slaughterhouse earlier, and must say I did like that instance, was good fun and also a bit of a challenge at times. Will tru Xibaluku tomorrow or friday I guess. :)

Playing: Battlefield - Bad company (Xbox360) Arma2, DFO (PC)
    On my radar: TSW, MO
MMO's played: SWG (pre cu/cu), WoW, AoC, WAR, DFO, Planetside
MMO's that I have tested: Lotro, L2, Aion, Ryzom

AoC patched more end game content both raids and dungeons. The game really needed this patch. Yay! The changes to the pvp mini game stuff also seems nice.

PvP minigames also got revamped. Hallowed Vault also got a change to it's map.

There's some hiccups especially with disconnects.

Even at release Thunder River never saw as much activity as it's seeing now.

There are hordes of massive PvP battles going on non stop.

I was running around solo and al I saw on my XP window was 100xp 100xp 100xp 100xp.

    It's insane!

Give them some time to work out the kinks and it will be all good.

This patch was pretty massive but aside from the DC's no major issues.

I suspected they'll have another hotfix out by the end of the day or tomorrow.

I haven't had this much fun in Age of Conan in a while even including the day after mergers (although that was fun too).

I am actually debating NOT getting Darkfall which is insane as I was about to jump on that bandwagon with everyone else next week.

Even if I do pick up Darkfall I'm sticking with Age of Conan as my primary game after today no question.

I've played around a little with the Darkfall beta and it's fun but it's a lot different.

No question though - I'm sticking with AoC as my main game.

Heh now there's an understatement.  They've got some serious hotfixing to do, as soon as they figure out what the problem is - from what I've read, servers are only up, because they don't know what's causing all the disconnects, yet.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Did Cradle of Decay tonight. It was an ok dungeon. I wasn't that impressed with the loot rewards and boss drops were kind of ok, only did it once.

Some interesting boss fights in there. The flower that makes you bow to it then makes you kill your teammates was neat.

The red bar lag spikes really frustrated me tonight. I hope they get that fixed soon. Other than the lag I like the patch. Will probably be doing a lot of Cradle of Decay this weekend  to see what all kind of loot drops.

As this post from the Game Director suggests the latency problem/dc's are related to very high population on some servers:

    http://forums-eu.ageofconan.com/showpost.php?p=1192179&postcount=59

I myself was sceptical to the fact that they merged so many servers together, even though they openened the fresh start ones, as it could pose future problems with returnees. Seems some of the serveres are reaching that limit fast now..

The patch itself is really great though, and I had a blast in Thunder River last night with the new content. What surprised me the most though, was the 10-15 fps increase I had from this patch, and how the game even look better now than it did prepatch. If you chose to neclect looking at the random demo in raid gear passing by, that is ;)

I felt Cradle of Decay was ok to, and average area, but at least it is something new and a good filler area for those passing through the first time. Slaughterhouse got some good changes before release which makes me happier to see.

The disconnects pissed me off a bit too, the hotfix was welcomed and I was pleased and the speed incorperated.

As for the server pop's and increased attendance causing lag issues, well.... lets hope they fix it up better sooner rather than later. Every indication since Septmember in this stage after a big patch has shown that it has been sooner.

I let my subscription expire so while I can't really say anything from first hand experience, but going by the official board it's looks to me like there are a lot of really unhappy people in regard to the patch.

Seems like quite a few people would retitle this thread 1.04 for the LOSS

    I miss DAoC

I wouldn't. It has problems and I think you and I both played enough MMOs that patches in any MMO have bugs and known issues.

I'm not speaking for any server except Wiccana. I played 8-11 PM central time last night and what took place mostly in general chat was the DCs and people LFG for the new dungeons. There was very few people bitching about how bad the patch was.

When I got a group for Cradle of Decay 3 or the 6 people were resubs that night because they wanted to check out the new patch. Only thing they griped about was the red bars of death.

Everyone seems to be really happy with patch, save the need for some hot fixes,

Trust a known Troll to try and put a negative spin on it. You are fighting a losing battle lol!

Since you dont have an active sub anymore you only have second hand information. And with the amount of trolls/fanboys out there you can no longer put up a valid opinion of in-game issues, time for you to move on dude.

    PS:

Out of interest what game are you subbed to ?

Both yes and no, there is a lot of unhappy people, no doubt about that. One of the thing many finds annoying this patch makes custom UI's like Mirage very buggy, you have to manually delete parts of the ui folders to get things to work.

All gui issues I had yesterday were due to this and once I sorted this out there was a few lagspikes but other then that a quite enjoyable experience. Also a bug where the guildtag would dissipear, guild would go away totally, but guildchat still working.

Don't you think its abit late to try and fix the things they did wrong ? , so many other games closing in on releasing now that its pointless.

Too little too late. Let the game die already.

Bit harsh to let a game die just because YOU don't play it anymore, isn't it?

It's never too late, just take a look around and see how many other games that are 5 plus years and counting of being live with far worse launchs than AoC or glaring bugs.

I say good on them for getting something out that ppl are happy about now, I've been reading the forums as I'm also thinking of coming back to the game and I get the impression that AoC is turning a corner for the better.

No shit sherlock, when the game launched most of the people quit after the free month, i was one of them, launch was a disaster and i was as pissed as anybody else to have spent 50$ on a game i didn't want to play.

But i resubbed a little less than a month ago and i am having some of the most fun i had playing a mmo in a long time.

You, Hamrtime2 and Blackwell99 are the trolls of the aoc board on this site, all you do is diss the game with every single post you make. Give up already.

  • DavirokDavirok Member UncommonPosts: 75

you guys are damn funny , 90% of the people who HAS POSTED IN THIS THREAT IS TALKING SHIT AND THEY AREN'T PLAYING THE GAME AT THE MOMENT, OR THEY FEEL FRUSTRATED BECAUSE THEY HAD TO QUIT IN THE VERY START OF THE GAME AND THEY DON'T WANT TO HEAR THAT THIS GAME IS GOING FAR BETTER THAN War or any other mmogs.

Sorry for caps but i had to yell because im tired of all this shit.

It's easy to say, let it die, but it's not easy to admit that something is going in the right way., so now you POSERS, leave out this fucking threat and leave age of conan forums, if you are just going to talk shit.

I like the patch 1.04, though it has bugs, they are fixing them right now, and the improvements are pretty nice.
