Darkfall did in fact get delayed again. It is not classified as a delay ONLY if the developers say that they a delaying.
A delay simply means that the game is not released when they said it would be.
Definition of a release: The ability to download, install, and log into a full functional product.
If the game does NOT meet the above criteria IT IS NOT RELEASED. In conclusion Darkfall was delayed again for the 4th time now, for 1 day. Although shaky ground, one could argue that the limited amount of time the servers have actually been up and playable could count as another day delayed.

Now, for my personal opinion:
I doubt that they purposely closed down the forums not because the forums were lagging (Who knows if they were, we've already confirmed the "Forum servers are busy, please try again later" wasn't an auto Vbulletin response but a custom message typed BY AV), but because they knew 100% that most Darkfallers would be ultra pissed and they would not be able to contain the inevitable spam of angry people.
Were already getting unconfirmed reports of massive sync problems for players. This could be just overexagerated claims or fabrications but if one were to assume this to be true, this is a serious problem.
All in all it was smart of me to follow my own advice and wait at the very least 1 month before buying Darkfall.

Yes there are huge sync issues they are fixing them at the moment as they stated ingame and the game will be going down later tonight to update. Id show a video but i thought i might be able to fix the problem by logging out -.- that was big mistake because i cant get back in with the queuing. It was impossible to fight anything id go into an area and see goblins standing in one area just running not going anywhere, and then out of no where id get attacked and of course i couldnt see what was attacking me. I had to randomly swing and i eventually hit the goblin attacking me, basically they try to run behind you and attack you there. Another example is i went into an area and would see random blood splattering which was a person fighting a goblin i couldnt see. Its not overexaggerated at all unfortunately and it makes it impossible to fight anything. I dont know how many times i went rogue because i couldnt see other people that would run up to the goblin i was fighting. They solution was to move out from the starter areas and attack stuff further out, but that didnt fix much.
ya i know what you mean lol, like it wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt for the lag im eager to see what happens further into release for now though, the game has a good feeling to it the world is interesting and theres lots fo explore but since one of the main things is fighting unfortunately it doesnt work too well at the moment lol. There are times where it does work and its not TOO bad but the combat is just horrible at the moment with the issues, again i want to see what it turns out like later on if they can get the issues fixed.
Anyways ill try making a video now that im back in game.
My guild mates in vent said there were some syncing problems but only in the areas crowded by massive amounts of players. They went out to the wilderness and said it got better.
Ya it does but not by much, though im not sure how far exactly i need to go before it is playable i did go pretty far from where everyone else was fighting until i couldnt hear and more fighting but the issues were still present in a way that at some points i could fight fine then it would just continue on with the syncing problem.
I'm just curious as to how many "massive" amounts of players is actually? This game is only open to a few thousand players at present time. I mean, it's not like major releases where 500,000 to 1,000,000 players try to log on and cause a jam.
I'm sure they will eventually get a handle on it but am I incorrect here? There's only about 5,000 people who were allowed to sign up and play. That small amount of players shoudn't be causing all these issues.
I could be incorrect but this is a "limited" launch.
What will happen if and when 100,000 people hit the server(s)?
the sync problems are a joke. Invisible mobs ,invisible players , going red coz of attacking invisible players.
This no different with other games its all the same offcorse some worse then others.
A few like me who where super fanbois still can be objective and step back and analyse it all and honestly say how the game realy is with all the knowledge of been a fan over the years and experience during beta, i can say its a big dissapointment but still some will say i lie thats there right ofcorse and its for all to believe or not.
You eather experience hardway buying game and then come to conclusion that game is crap or love it its all up to you, just gather info by reading forums looking at reviews videos and see how the developers doing during these launche times and deside if you wanne buy or not.
Have fun or not:)
Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009.....
In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.
is "sync problems" the same as lag problems?
So because their was a 12 hour delay, of which free time was added you feel the need to crap on this game?! You know who you should blame? Blame blizzard, EA, turbine, etc for putting a bunch of crap games out over the years. It's their fault that they fucked the genre.
Aventurine is just a small company who was trying to make a game to appeal to a long neglected niche of players. These other companies should be ashamed of themselves.
Here is a quick video that will show the sync problems, forgive the lagginess of it, hypercam sucks need something better.

QQ.
More of the same...
shouldnt sync problems have been handled during beta?
I find it incredible that people create new mmorpg.com accounts to post this crap. Too scared to use your real account?. Like you have some kind of reputation on this site you need to protect. To that i can only ROFLMAO.
Good for you!
*Awaits opportunity to fix billing information*
you can only test so much in 7 years with 20 friends & family and some "bots".
Well im not crapping on the game if this was directed at me im simply discussing a main problem in the game that is going to be fixed anyway, but people deserve to see current issues in the game, especially ones that should have been fixed awhile ago. I dont hate the game infact i like it and would like it more once these problems are dealt with. I know their a small company which im amazed theyve managed to do this much with a team their size and the funds they had. Id be astonished if i could see what they could do with a bigger team and more money. Atleast with a bigger team theyd be able to short who deals with what problems a lot easier rather than everyone there doing a little bit of all the work which is what im sure they had to do. But im neither a fanboy or a hater, I just wanna play a decent mmorpg for once. Which after awhile i hope darkfall can become that.
Actually i think it has more to do with since official darkfall forums are down more people are signing up now so they can voice their opinions here since they cant do it there.
I didn't mind the delay, so long as that time was being used productively to make sure the servers were actually ready for the game to go live, and equally importantly to deal with the crippling issues that have been plaguing the preorder customers since they were first opened up.
I was even able to forgive the delay in my pre-order conformation and charges, even though it pissed me off that I'd gone through hours of refresing from the very minute the pre-orders opened up just to secure my spot in the launch, however poorly the servers might deal with the load.
What I don't accept is yet more of this buck-passing horseshit from these ill-prepared developers, however small a company they may be. It could be one guy working in his basement, it makes no difference to the fact that blaming the customer for a DEMONSTRABLY false mistake on his/her part is not only total bull but massively aggravating.
I did not enter my details incorrectly, neither did the vast majority of those with preorders who are unable to play, and I simply won't accept that I'm to blame for this. If they at least had the balls to say "look, we fucked up, you'll have to re-enter your details", then I'd be pissed, but this is actually insulting.
19/02/2009 @11pm - "Your Darkfall preorder was successful!"
26/02/2009 @11pm - "During the preorder of Darkfall, your credit card transacton failed."
Ahh, classic Tasos!

Ouch, I feel for ya man!
Dont worry guys, BETA is for ironing out all possible game breaking bugs, prior to launch.
They should call Blizzard and Sony and find out how they fixed the horrible sync issues in their early releases.
I still run into it from time to time in WoW and have to camp out, log back in to fix it. But it only happens once a week or so (well up until I quit WoW again last month).
I had a sync issue in EQ2 as well but it was only once in the last 2 weeks of playing.
They should have a BETA test to patch the sync issues before release.
Give me a fucking break with your excuses that this is a small company bla bla bla.
They never really beta tested this game worth shit. This kind of problems isnt excusable. I can understand them having issues with capacity. But with maybe less than 10k people who can even log into the game this is something they should have seen during beta.
This company who are self titled gamers, should have know about proper beta testing and they ignored it. Would i like to try the game yes, but at this point in time, considering the mess this game is in. I am glad i didnt fork 40 something Euros. This game so far isnt worth that much. Maybe in a month time when the server is stable, when there is no sync issue, when there's no queue isssue to get in the game, maybe then.
Chalk this up to lack of experience as a developper.
They probably just didn't have the funds to run a beta test. The economy is HORRIBLE right now - the investors for AV are probably pulling out on additional funding. So it was launch or die.
This reminds me of a dog race I saw once. Ya know... the kind where they chase the mechanical bunny on the rail? Well, the race started and the dogs shot out of the chute, but the bunny didn't. The dogs went halfway around the track, stopped and started fighting. Needless to say that all bets were off.
No worries though. They calmed the dogs down without injuries and restarted the race but they did have to replace the bunny. I'm waiting until I see the bunny actually head out before I start chasing it.
