So you will have a "spaceship mount" and you will be killing rats in space. Just like WoW, with a "Stars" screensaver on background. I agree some of the posters. A ship sould be like a ship. Hell.. there are FPS mods that let you do that, like the star wars mod for BF1942.
I'm curious, so maybe you can answer a question for me? How do people decide to make themselves look totally foolish by very clearly not knowing anything at all about a game, but make a post insulting it just the same?
I guess its the same way people can defend a game by very clearly not knowing anything about it.
Ya, again, you're posting from a position of total unawareness. I can easily prove just how much I know about the game, how long I've been following it, and how much I've participated in the community and countless discussions about pretty much every aspect of it.

The subject of the discussion is the game. Raising strawman arguments about posters is bad practice. Lets talk about the game and not about each another.

It's like we are getting a Star Trek game made by people who have never seen an episode of the show. I mean... 90% of the shows took place where? That's right.. INSIDE the ships. These idiots deserve to have their game fail.

I can harly imagine Star Trek withouth the interior of the ships.

Just what is Strawman about saying that a person that spouts off that it'll be a spaceship mounts ( It's like saying the ships in PotBS are mounts on the sea. ) and we'll be killing rats in space obviously knows nothing about the game? This when we know that the ships are going to be much much more than that, we've been given an outline of the episodic nature of missions, and have been told from the day the game was announced that those types of kill and gather missions aren't in Cryptic's vision for STO?
Clearly the person knows absolutely nothing about the game.

You don't have to imagine it. There's going to be ship interiors. Better check your facts. They're going to be included in the episodes where they are relevant to the story being told. As opposed to wasting all the time and resources creating them to be there all the time, and irrelevant to most people.
If you actualy read the damned thing you would have seen this. "CZ: At launch, we are probably only going to have ship interiors available during mission instances, however we hope to add the ability to players to freely walk around their ship and host gatherings in an expansion pack."
Yeah. Pretty optimistic outlook they have. Basically, they plan on releasing a stripped down version of the game they envision, but surely everyone will buy it anyway... so when people don't buy the game, or cancel soon after buying it... where will the money for this expansion come from?
There is no "stripped down vision" in any way, shape, or form. There was never, let's make sure that's clear, N.E.V.E.R, any statement made that they would have ship interiors. All that was ever said was that it was one of many many things that they were looking into as being a possibility for the game.
As for your other lame attempt, it's been shown already a number of times on the forums that many Cryptic staff know far more about the IP than most of the fans, since they have been fans themselves for many years.
You know.. if you would tone down the fonboy just a little bit, someone might actually take some of what you type seriously.
They said they intend to add ship interiors in an expansion in a quote posted in this thread. Ship interiors are part of their overall vision of the game... just not important enough to launch with. Those are the facts.

Obviously the game they envision at release and the game they envision in the future are two different things. Again, nothing is being stripped down. Maybe you should stop trying to drum up negativity and just accept that.
Furthermore, if you'd care to check my posting history on the STO forums, you'd know that I'm about as far from a fanboi as they come. I'm glad that they made the decision to hold off adding them. It's eviidence to me that they want to remain focused on much more vital core elements of the game instead of fluff that few will care about. Too many games waste time and resources on useless things like this before release, and too often have other much more important features and elements suffer because of it. Kudos to Cryptic for showing smarts yet again.
That's how I feel. I'd rather spend time exploring the galaxy than my own ship. They already said that interiors will be added in later. The point of the game is to explore strange new worlds, not strange new quarters.

Why be the captain of your ship at all?
OK this is just my view how it could work.. and no im not trying to get them to realise they bark up the wrong tree.
You make a avator. You get trained at academy, then you get to select a assignment. That could be a Galaxy ship somewhere or at start maybe smaller ship etc. From that ship you get quests. That could be away team on a planet, to man a small ship for space fight or what ever. Im sure you all get the idea. Later on when you advance and get the right skills you could get a quest to work as a weapons officer at bridge during encounter etc. The rest is a NPC crew. Its even possible to group a few and you all get to select the station you want, if you got the right skills that is. Quests could even involve a problem on the ship to solve. Imagination is the only limit here.
Many say ofc you want your own ship and interior is not important. Well that’s your view and not mine. I don’t want my own Galaxy class ship, for one main reason. That would not be the Star Trek I been watching. How would it look like if there are 100 ships floating around DS9, yeah very likely in the serie.
I will still keep an eye on this game and see how it develop. But with the info I got so far it’s a
What a joke. We're talking about Star Trek where a huge portion of the story takes place inside of ships.

A DEV just recenlty stated on the official website that there are tons of interiors in the game . There are countless missions that are based inside the interiors of ships. He also said that giving FUNCTIONAL interiors will be a top priority after launch. This is much better than throwing in interiors at launch that have no use other than scenery. As stated about a qazillion times, there will be free roaming interiors in the game but they are waiting to put them in because they want to do them right.

Not quite...there will be ship interiors but only during instances missions. You won't be able to visit your interiors beyond missions. That's no difference than Elite Force.
There will be no starbase interiors, except for Deep Space 9 as confirmed.
There was NO PROMISE made of functional interiors at a later date. I've been around long enough here to not give game DEVS the benefit of the doubt.
Remember, at the vegas announcement Jack Emmertt promised free roaming ship interiors to a specific question. Why did he lie?

Yeah. Pretty optimistic outlook they have. Basically, they plan on releasing a stripped down version of the game they envision, but surely everyone will buy it anyway... so when people don't buy the game, or cancel soon after buying it... where will the money for this expansion come from?

But, I know that a lot of players will have lots of fun with interiors. But some jerks don't want it in the game, so they'll ruin other people's fun.

blah blah blah, all you know is publicly released official info which may or may not be true by the time the game launches.
Mmmkay. ....
By that rational, NO amount of information will make people like you happy, even information that you would like since the makers of the game should never be trusted with what they say. So why bother following a game before it launches since according to you, they all lie and should never be trusted? Why get all upset about interiors when they could just be lying one way or the other?
Cause it fun to argue with people on the forums. DUH!
Okay then. Your arguments should never be taken seriously because you're just here to troll. Duly noted for future reference.
I feel the same about you. Difference is my arguments are better than yours.
Thank you. I don't know how we managed to accomplish that feat since none of us are the ones making those decisions, but I accept the compliment.
By the way, there will be interiors in the game, just not at launch you big baby.

I fully understand why lots of people are unhappy about this. Incl me to that category.
But with the info I got so far it’s a
“Beem me back to earth Scotty”
What a joke. We're talking about Star Trek where a huge portion of the story takes place inside of ships.

last i checked cryptic said that the interiors would not me in the LAUNCH but that they would be incorporated later on in the first expansion.
Today is a good day to die... but thats not my first choice.
As stated about a qazillion times, there will be free roaming interiors in the game but they are waiting to put them in because they want to do them right.

guess i wont be playing this game after all....
