Well pretty simple! Just click left > click right >  drag > press R > left click > press something = REST. Awesome huh? LOL

WoW has had 5 years to amass enough players to have that many servers, it didnt have very many at launch. Darkfall has barely been out for two weeks and probably half the player base isnt even in it yet, not to mention all the players it will gain over the years. Im not into DF but I can respect it for what it is, dont hold DF up to all the of the major games on the market, it was never meant to be one of those.

You sit by dragging the rest ability from your skills page to your hotbar.

Darkfall is a joke.  It is barely playable and has half the gfx of WoW.. you are kidding yourself to justify your 5 years of waiting for it to come out.  And btw WoW had at least 25 servers at launch and several splits/adds.

You sir are the joke, if you fail to se that DFO have much better GFX than your pressious WoW then you are just plain lying. And about the 25 servers WoW had at lauch they only have like 5000 account on each so moot point.

I am pretty sure you never played DFO, since you have so many blatant missconceptions of the game.

You may be a bit too young for this type of game.

Perhaps finding something more in your age braket would be beneficial.

Strange, but I feel a bit too old for this game. So, who is this thing designed for anyway?

Those of us old enough to know better, yet young enough, at heart, not to care, I suppose...

Please, Darkfall, just die already. Why are you stretching out the inevitable, Aventurine? S&M parties at the corporate offices? Yeah, I think so.

wow!! u really had the balls to say that? That is impressive.

So u are too noob for Darkfall? u admit that?

U couldnt figure out how to use an interface in a game that 10 thousand people are playing with no problem.

In other words, out of 10000 players who figured this out on their own, u couldnt.

Its people like this that justifies warning labels like:

"Do not attempt to stop the blade with your genitals" (on a chainsaw in sweden)

    or

On an infant's bathtub: "Do not throw baby out with bath water"

    or

On a cup of McDonald's coffee: "Allow to cool before applying to groin area"

    (all true stories)

I mean I knew there where dumb people out there, but to come right out and say it....

    -Darkstar

People are using it with no problem, does not mean it is convenient to all players.

Is this recall a spell or skill or...?  Do you need any reagants for it?

Or is this just free teleport for everyone?

Its funny how people who hate Darkfall spend so much time talking about Darkfall.

    Just an ability, no reagents.

There are runes, that are in game that I have not found yet, that actually act like a mark/recall spell, if you know what I mean.

To sit, you need to open up your skill list (rightclick the screen to switch actionmode on/off) then in your skill list, in the general section, find the skill called REST, drag it onto your hotbar. Then you you use R to sheathe your weapon (assuming you have one unsheathed), and then press the hotbutton to make Rest your active skill, then left click to use it. (your avatar will then sit down and enter rest mode)

it sounds a bit complicated for something as simple as sitting down... but eventually the buttonclicking becomes a habit and you wont think much about it when you do it.

you send a tell with /tell name surname blahblah (ie. /tell Random Gankster Hello, can i have my stuff back please?)

and /annotation_add Bank (it will add a mapnote with the text Bank , on your current location.)

Yep, sounds like alpha stage placeholders.  Simply because, it's 2009 and Aventurine cannot figure out how to make a real hotbar, so when you press a command, it happens.  So you must now just simply macro a sit command on my G15.

Yeah...   Darkfall is uber advanced GUI...   LOL

THe thing is, this game intentionaly doesnt want easy loot or combat because the fans dont like that.  Aventurine knows of course that they could get more players if they do things like that but they (most likely) dont care that much about money and would rather make a game that a specific community wants.

Not a WoW fan at all, quit about 3 months after release and have not been back. But that is completely untrue. WoW sold about halh a million copies first day and completely overwhelmed the servers. To Blizzard's credit, they quickly had new servers online,

And when Tasos came out and claimed the game was more feature complete than any MMO on the market, he begged for Darkfall to be held up to all the major titles. Completely his fault he tried and failed to run with the big dogs.

Not to sound insulting, but these things seem like little annoyances and pickiness more than anything else. Someone really feels these to be major gamebreakers and arguments as to why a game "sucks"?

You cant /sit like in other games?

You can't /tell like in other games?

You can't /bindstone recall like in other games?

They do seem like rather trivial concerns. It probably would have been better if someone reasons why the overall gameplay was bad, not stuff they can fix rather easily in the coming months (queues and /emotes). Just seems as though these things interfere make it difficult for someone to /happy emo with their friends in town, but not a real essential purpose, lol.

Would you rather have working /sit and /tell commands, or a working /build city, /fight enemies in huge battles without constant hourly server crashes?

If someone is the type to choose /sit and /tell, I think they might want to try "Hello Kitty". I read they got rave reviews for their /sit, /tell, /wave and /hi commands.

And that other guy saw NO mobs to fight? Was he stuck in town /macroing too?

good that you're statment is false  otherwize we 'd never see any niche market games coming.  Fact is if it was true games without a solid casual content would never even be produced. hopefully some companys try something else than mainstream wow bullshit games for the small  fans market. regardless if its a good game or not.

PS: tryed it, didnt like but fact is the game isnt that bad  as long as you are not spoiled with  the last years games.

I really do not understand how people are "spoiled" with the "last years games".

If being spoiled is coming to expect some type of standard for games when it comes to graphics, ui, and sells then I guess we are all spoiled.

The "last years games" all for the most part have upheld some form of genre wide standard, ever trying to improve graphics, ui, and gameplay. Some fell short but they tried.

AoC for example, raised an entire new level when it came to graphics. WoW standardized casual gameplay and implemented such a marketing and sells tactic unlike the world has ever seen in this day and age.

EQ2 improved on EQ1 as a total package.

Guild Wars also improved on graphics and teamplay.

Warhammer improved on DAoC's graphics and attempted to improve on gameplay.

Darkfall has gone backwards in all of these categories. You can call me spoiled if you like, I am just used to game companies trying to raise the bar, not lower it.

Maybe, but then again, Darkfall is a hell of a lot more fun to play, then any of the games you mentioned above.

So, in my opinion, they got the most important element correct.

  • HerculesSASHerculesSAS Member Posts: 1,272

They just turned off mob spawns because they had too many players in the game.

That's how pathetic this company is, and how well this game is coded.

And I find it more entertaining for every person here to say "Yea, we didn't want you in the game anyway!" -- soon enough you'll have nobody left to play with, because it will only be the fanboys. And we already know that the fanboys are largely allied with one another, so the game with shitty gameplay is now going to be even worse than it initially was.

Shadowbane has better graphics and mechanics than Darkfall, even if it's level based. Hell, even DF is level based in disguise, but I won't get started on that because fanboys will shout me down and it's not worth explaining it to them. It's not even a sandbox world either, but I'll avoid that for the same reason.

This game is an entire joke.
