Members of the EU starting to push back against socialism

ZindaihasZindaihas Member UncommonPosts: 3,662

EU president, Mirek Topolanek, calls the United States spending plan to fight this recession a "road to hell."

And then there's this fantastic speech by EU parliament member, Daniel Hannan, handing it to PM Gordon Brown on his deficit spending which is undermining Great Britian's economy.

We need more opposition members in the United States to show this kind of courage.

Yea Obama is a very deviouse and evil man. For example yesterday it was nice and sunny then suddenly some rain clouds came over and the rain made my glasses mist........Evil man indeed.

Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

Well the Czech were always eurosceptic and in greater sense globalosceptic (is that a word? :O ). He may be trying to get voting preferences up in wake of the fall of the goverment, who knows. Tbh I think he just said loud and clear what others are thinking or do not want to say because they actually planned this road.

It's a good thing the U.S. always takes a deep interest in what the EU says.  Like when a very large number of them denounced the war in Iraq.

Being a liberal in Europe is just embarrassing.

They couldn't sell government bonds today.

But this is an unelected PM. He will do what he wants to do. He answers to no one.

Randomly thrown out facts without information to back it up is always correct, right? Did you know that: the sky is pink every 4th day, China is creating a massive army of pink lions underground that they will then use to take over USA and not only that, South Korea is working on a a mod for Starcraft that will allow them to export troops from in game to the real world.

    Belgium isn't liberal?

I find that hard to believe, the place is almost a communist state.

Ok. First off the stance of the british people and the stance of the government towards Bush are different things. Blair and Bush were Buddies. Brown and Bush not so much admittedly but they were still bangin on about the "special relationship" with the USA. And when Obama got in they were rejoicing in the streets.

The Labour Party is of the same political persuasion as the Democrats. Left wing Socialist. We have been suffering under an ever increasing Tax Burden ever since they got in. Tax and Spend, Tax and Spend. The Labour Party Mantra however much they hide behing the Nu Labour Facade.

They inherited a growing economy both locally and globally and wasted the money on bureaucracy and government. Not to mention the War in Iraq.

If any of you had been reading the International News you would know that we were leading the way in "Quantitative Easing".

Obviously we haven't pumped in quite as much. A mere 440 Billion or somthing but we ARE a much smaller country than you :p

The next link gives an idea of what we're doing over here and how the world (well Obama anyway) is following. Albeit not quite as badly. www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/robertpeston/2009/03/geithner_versus_darling.html

As to him being Unelected. Well thats not strictly true. It's correct that he wasn't  the Leader of the Labour Party BUT he was voted in as Leader of the party by the party members. It's all about us being a Parliamentry Democracy. The main problem was that there was no true opposition to him becoming leader within his own party due to a certain Dinner Meeting between Blair and Brown before Labour actually got to power.

"The problem with the French is that they don't have a word for entrepreneur." -George W. Bush, discussing the decline of the French economy with British Prime Minister Tony Blair

No mate the main problem with him is that Blair gave an election commitment to the country to be the Prime Minister for a full term.

The opposition had said "vote Blair get Brown!" and the Labour party made a commitment to the country that this would not happen as part of their election campaign. Blair would serve a full and final term.

He isn't just unelected, he was specifically not elected by name.

Labours democratic mandate ended with Blair.

We were all promised that if the Labour party was elected we would not get Brown for our Prime Minister, and oh look, the Labour Party got elected and we've got Brown as our Prime Minister.

There is nothing democratic about it. He has no mandate from the people. He is a usurper, nothing more.

Hard to believe that sort of thing still happens in this day and age. Mugabe has greater democratic legitamacy than he does.
