Darkfall: A hackers dream come true

DraconusDraconus Freeworld AdminMember Posts: 781

its very sad that this game is reduced to a bunch of hackers.

I had high hopes for this game, but the amount of people hacking in this game makes the game not worth playing.

speed hacks, teleport hacks, flying hacks, see though wall hacks, no stun-root-snare hacks, and....... you name it people are using it.

sad indeed

You didn't mention macroing. Of course there soft stance on all of it dosen't help. If they start banning people for macroing for example there will be no one left. Oh and the 'police force' (vigilantes more like) are players. Its an almighty *&^% up allround

The use of these hacks is more widespread than people want to believe. This problem isn't going to be fixed soon either.

I am sorry to break the news to you boys but there is not excessive hacking happening in darkfall.  The company that makes the hacks makes them for just about every other game on the market also.

There is alot of macroing,  but 99% of it ends there.

Macroing isn't hacking.  The stuff he mentioned involves manipulating the data, not  using an automatiion to repeat a task, which is what you're referring to.

    1. There is excessive hacking - it's so prevalent that Tasos has mentioned it in several posts
    2. The fact that the company(companies) making the hacks makes them for other games is irrelevant.
    3. Hacks aren't macros.  Yes, there are a lot of macros.  Yes, there are plenty of hacks and hack customers, too.

It's AV's own fault the game failed. They should have tried to prevent everyone hacking and exploiting and macroing before the game went under.

If they didn't care enough about the game to even try to address it, they deserve to have failed.

I'm sure the devs'll have a hell of a time paying off the debts what with unemployment and all.

You have one server full  with around 10.000 people playing at the same time? and what.. 25.000 total subscribers? A game pestered wth macroing and hacks. A game that claimed to be the sandbox of sandbox games and finally is not sandbox at all? And where 80% of players have social issues?

It's actually pretty practical that the game COULD actually be all fanboi's. You have 9,000 people out of an extremely large audience (20million or so, minus Asia and other countries that currently don't have access to Darkfall), that just clung to Darkfall for some reason.

One server and 9000 people doesn't pay the loans, upkeep and time invested, by the way. Darkfall has a LONG way to go before it can geniunely be called successful.

Once the newness wears off, we'll then reevaluate how many of those 9,000 people actually paid an additional $15

Eve started with low numbers and now usually has 50,000 players logged on at the same time.

So it's the games fault that people use hacks?

I have never seen it myself, but I have heard people say they have seen it.

People were still playing and enjoying Hellgate: London and Tabula Rasa when those games failed.

Yes. People will always try to hack. Good games have decent countermeasures to prevent hacks and cheats.

    Well made games do, yes.

It isn't the "games" fault. It's the developers decision not to care about the rampant hacking and exploiting.

Yes and no.  People are competitive by nature.  Most have no problem, going to any lengths.  To be king of the hill.  PvP games are (at least imho) more competitive then PvE games.  So you are more likely to find someone cheating.  If a game developers isn't careful, especially with a PvP based game.   It's like leaving your front door unlocked.  Sure the average joe might not ever have a reason to check your door.  Some people just can't resist temptation though.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

People in beta were using the hacks and exploits, and then the same hacks and exploits after release. The "devs" ( loosely applied ) knew and did nothing subtantial about it. So yes, it is the "games'" fault.

Do i need to once again remind people that PVP fails ALWAYS?

I have been playing PVP games since probably before most of you had internet, and it has ALWAYS been a haven for cheating. It makes you wonder why people think there is satisfaction knowing they are not the one achieving it,yet they still waste their time and others time by doing it.

This would be the perfect fuel a developer needs to bring out lawsuits against the sites that offer these cheats. The problem is that it is a huge undertaking. However any developer that can get it's player base in writing or on a signed document that they are quitting the game ,because of the cheats and the TOC clearly states NO THIRD PARTY software, then it is an easy win for the developer.Once that trend starts, then other sites will be afraid to continue in their ways.

I have seen a few sites get around any possible future lawsuits,by clearly stating on their website,no one associated with the games is allowed to access their site or use any of it's software. So pretty hard for a developer to prove something if they are not allowed access.I am not sure how that would hold up in court, but if sites are causing developers to lose money/customers through illegal means, they should start going after them.It is VERY easy to catch them also, albeit you may be untouchable in certain countries i guess.

They close one cheat site down, 2 more will take it's place. Why go after all these cheat sites individually instead of making the game hard to hack? Maybe don't put critical files on the client side?

The fault, 100% of the fault is AV's. They didn't care about hacking, even went so far as to make it easy and convienient for cheaters. They invited cheaters, macroers, and exploiters, then do nothing, don't care when the game went down in flames because of it.

Leave the front door unlocked and open at night, then complain you get robbed. makes sense in the DF world.

lol I wasn't aware the game went under, quickly someone alert the game that's still selling out every time the shop opens... game's done.

Well I know that was why I hit the big ol' cancel button in WAR pretty quick.

WAR-buddy and a few other programs just like it.. widely posted video's on youtube everyday etc  Yet all I saw day after day was "we banned X number of gold spammers..."

So I guess I would say this isn't exactly something I would put on Darkfall or the Developers... as being unique.  I'd certainly say Mythic/EA had a lot more resources to deal with this exact same BS than this company.  Heck WAR even had a deal signed with Punkbuster but never actually "turned it on"...

This is just me presenting a slightly different point of view...  Its the same thing and its the fault of the people who use the programs.  The resources and money that could actually go to game development, content, bug fixes etc...  Is instead being used for these people.  Regardless of game and/or developer...

*note* I'm not going to argue whether Darkfall is a good game or not because I don't care.  I am posting this because it has been an issue in many if not all MMO's I have played.  It causes people to quit (aka lost income for developers) and as listed with the resources taken to deal with this crap... affects everyone that plays MMO's.

I'm willing to bet those slots opening up are due to players leaving. Therefore, they're not gaining players, they're merely trying to maintain the same amount.

So would you prefer the term "stagnant" better than "failed"? lol

Tasos loved to brag how many people were looking forward to playing, throwing around that 300k forum registration. Why isn't he bragging about his games' population now? Hmm?
