most fun, wow by far its awesome! most boring, war its just a rehash of wow. (i could see you not liking the copy, but if its a rehash of the most fun game ever, it has to at least be..a little fun) i mean, i love mary-kate because she is so beautiful. but i hate ashley because she looks just like mary-kate?

anyway mine, are mimicing alot of others
most boring, EVE . i also tried, twice, to like this game because its salesmen are so good but im sorry. its boring.
most fun, daoc. (swg a close second). not just the awesome rvr/battlegrounds but ive yet to find a game with so many classes that are so different, i could roll alts for a year and enjoy it.
Boring : Eve Online. I am fascinated by the ingame politics, capturable areas in PVP, I am bored to death of it's mundane combat, ridiculously bad UI and barren scenery. I played Eve online for 30 minutes, and I assure you; that was enough.
(* Preceding impressions of EVE Online are from the pre aprocrypha game. The UI might not be as terrible as it was before, but I dont think a revamped UI will be enough for me to find this game enjoyable)
Fun : I hate to say WoW, but honestly, WoW pre expansion (s) was some of the best fun I've had. Mass roaming PVP and doing those dungeons for fhe first time was just fantastic... But all things must end, and WoW slowly went from a game about an intense rivalry between two opposing factions to THIS : http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2005/6/10/
Waiting for : Mount and Blade MMORPG, or a sandbox game that isn't developed by morons / has a horrible combat system and learning curve.
Its hard to think of most bored games, because I would have deleted the game and moved on. Name? forgotten. I come across these trash games during travels, when I need to stop over, say waiting for a transit plane. During the waiting hours, I might visit internet cafes where there are PC with preload games, most of them f2p. Generally speaking, the quality of the games are so crappy that I seldom got the mood to play for an hour. Sometimes, a session of solo Warcraft, or even diablo 2, is better than those crappy MMOs.
For MMOs in particular, ffa pvp ganker games are the kinds I simply won't install or sub, or even try it. Too must bullshit and too bad a community to waste my few offhours on. Those people are mostly the kind I do not want to meet in RL, and no point wasting my few hours after work to mix with them.
Do I remember the name of a few games that I hate? Not really, those f2p games I can play when travelling and resting in internet cafes are quite the same, apart from the name. Cannot remember names just those "japanse/korean art work" looking games of fantasy RPG, where characters are overly stylist and everyone rush out to kill mobs and then pvp for nothing. No one talks no community just steal kill, grief and trash talk.
Most boring: AoC. Which shouldn't be surprising as it was also the only mmo that didn't last past 2 weeks.
Most fun: UO, but you never forget your first sandbox. It was my first venture into a more 3d (isometric) world after AOL's Neverwinter Nights and The Realm which were 2d. Still go back to it every now and then, and still enjoy it. Because nothing since has correctly duplicated its greatest aspects. Not yet.. maybe sooner than we think though. Some in development titles are finally taking the hint i think...
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence. Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
Most Boring : Metin 2 - started this one with 3 other friends to see what it was on our f2p mmo kick and we all made it out of starter zone and just uninstalled. There have been other f2p games that come close to this one but I gotta push this one forward as the winner. Last Chaos, Dofus, etc.
Most fun: Where my friends are pretty much. Had a blast pvping in World of Kung Fu ( i know the name sucks), loved rappelz at first then realized I was working my way to nothing what so ever end game, and currently playing WoW with 16 friends. I almost always have fun when I start out new in a game.. being a little nobody, running about all lost, dying tonnes, chatting up the community to see its mettle, but the shine wears off and I move on. Its just a matter of when... 1 month, 6 months, 1 year... it happens. I dont expect something to keep my attention forever, but while I play it I expect to have fun. When its no longer fun I move on.
Most boring for me was AoC. I didn't even get passed level 12, and people were raving about how great 1-20 were and how bad 20+ was. I thought 1-20 sucked so I didn't need to see anymore.
Most fun for me was SWG pre-NGE hands down.
Guild Wars gets a runner up.
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike Loved: Star Wars Galaxies Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
The most boring? Hmmm...I would have to say overall: Warhammer Online. I've never wanted to hang myself before I was even done creating my character in an MMO before. It only got worse when I actually logged in. EVE is pretty boring, but at the same time it holds a special place in my heart. I have a 10mil SP character in EVE, so I've spent some time there, but I'm still not sure why I stayed as long as I did...
The most fun? That's really hard to say. I like bits and pieces of all the MMOs out there. EQ1 was my first and my favorite, but it wasn't so much "fun" as it was an addiction. I had some great times in Shadowbane, FFXI and CoX. Currently I've been playing LoTRO for a the past few months and it's really holding my attention. Very well made PvE game.
But my "most fun" game, ironically...would have to be Dark Age of Camelot. lol...GG Mythic. GG indeed. Like I always tell my little brother, "Mom and Dad should've gotten fixed after they had me and called it a day."

The most boring mmo I have played has to be RF Online. I played it for a day and then never touched it again. This was the game that taught me a valuable money saving lesson. Dont ever buy a korean game ever again.
My second most boring mmo would have to be WAR. I tried my best to stick it out for the whole month so I could get my moneys worth but could only manage two weeks before the torture became truly unbearable.
My best mmo experience was probably way back when DAoC first came out. It may have been a big old grindfest but it was only my second mmo (after EQ....which was also great) so it all seemed pretty new to me. The game world was great and the prospect of having 2 opposing lands full of enemy players to wage war against made all the grinding feel worthwhile. The community was fantastic in DAoC because we all felt like we had a purpose in the game.
Ever since then mmos have gone downhill........although TCoS is a breath of fresh air.

RF was pretty bad. I had forgot I played it until I read this. Like you I didn't last very long in that one. I think what broke me was the day i decided to level up my shield skill. You had to go aggro like 50 mobs and stand there hoping your guy would block, and on the rare chance he did, there would be a rare chance of getting .1 of a skill or something insane. I think i literally started nodding off at the keyboard in the middle of the afternoon and that was the end for me.
Most Boring: All f2p asian attempts at an mmorpg. For western mmorpg: Warhammer Online & LOTR online.
Most fun: Strangely enough, in my entire mmorpg playing history... I had the most fun playing WoW during beta and right after launch when the game was fairly undiscovered, pvp had no benefit other than the fun of it, and it was all world based. No bgs. Blues were rare, hard to find, purples almost impossible. Gear was not over powered. Molten Core was considered impossible to beat (bliz had not nerfed the dungeon then) and no one could claim victory over beating it yet. My guild was not the first, but one of the few that followed in beating the 40 man raid dungeon. The amount of skill required, perfect planning, strategies that no one knew, trial and error...just the sheer impossibility of it and actually succeeding was the best feeling I have had in any mmorpg. It really was an accomplishment, and you felt it. People knew it by the gear you wore. Thats gone now, the game was dumbed down for casuals even more so because they wanted everything to be available to them without all the work and skill required. Good times. People hate WoW, but those haters I do not think had the opportunity to experience WoW when it was at its best. It really was an amazing game.
Additional props go to EQ, SWG, and UO for brief periods, none of it felt as epic as my WoW experience though.

Lol that's a funny one. Guess that's how my UD felt when bgs came out too ,)
Back on topic.
Fun: As many here I've had great times in various MMOs but I have to say Vanilla WoW wins. BRD evenings with your friends or guildies? Oh yes.
Boring: This one's a tough one. Let me start by saying I don't usually mind a solid grind as long as there is a reward at the end (ie Faction rep in Vanilla wow before they made each quest give you half a rep bar for it or plain old leveling in most games) so grinding does not make a game necessarily boring to me. With that in mind I would imagine the most boring game to me would have to me one that doesn't deliver at end game. However, there is one game I never even got to end game:
T1: Oh this is so fun, animations a bit annoying though, and too bad no one in global chat.
T2: No one doing PQs hmmm, oh well I'll go do a scenario I guess. Again. Damn, those animations really bug me.
T3: Scenario... Scenario... Scenario
T4: Please for the love of god make it stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have not played a whole lot of different types of mmos so my picks for most boring and most exciting don't have a large pool of games to pick from. I am going to include two picks for each most boring and more fun.
First the boring games for me would be Perfect World. Just something about the world kept me from getting into it. I killed some things and for me it lacked character. If I could have gotten into it more I may have enjoyed it, but as it was I could only bring myself to play around with it for a few hours. My second pick would be Guild Wars. GW was a good game, but it could only hold my interest three weeks. To me the fact that everything was instanced with just small hubs where you could meet other players ruined it. I really wish I could have enjoyed the game more, because it really had some of the best combat systems.
My most enjoyable mmos are Eve-online and WoW. Eve was great for the epic battles, and constantly changing world. The pvp also created a huge adrenalin rush, because death had an actual consiquence. After Eve I played WoW with 3 roommates, and had a great time working our way thorugh all the low level dungeons. The fact that we played together and did everything at the recomended levels for them we had a good challenge. if not for being able to play with my friends I don't think I would have enjoyed the game as much as I did. I ultimately quit after 8 months when two of my roommates go so far ahead because they had no college classes, and the third just basically stoped playing. Overall I would consider it a good game with a very bad end game gear grind that ended up making me leave it.
Probably not the most typical picks, but honest none the less. If you enjoy playing your game of choice don't let anyone else tell you that it is bad.
I will probably get flamed for this, but I found WoW boring. I think it was mainly the childish attitude of some of the players compared to Lord of the Rings. Now LOTRO I find to be most enjoyable.
for me, my best game is Megaten- cos ive always wanetd a summoner based game, and we do miss when we thought pokemon was good. ti really feels like playing 2 charcaters at once, and the battlle system requires brains rather than freakish lvl.
i also like a lot archlord, veyr pretty, and the soundtrack was constructed by the london symphony orchestra
It pains me to say this, but the most boring MMORPG I've ever played was probably FFXI. I just couldn't...do anything in it. Thye just dumped me in the middle of this huge world with next to no pointers so I ended up running around like a headless chicken. I love Final Fantasy games, and to say one bored me is painful, but it's true.
The most fun for me would be....probably early WoW. Call it cookie cutter if you want, too easy, and an EQ rip off, but it was FUN when I first played it. 300 level 10 Night Elves trying to kill a level 60 Tauren shaman will alwasy be a fond memory for me. I still dabble in it occasionally now, but I'm looking for a more hardcore fantasy one now.
Most boring = Eve Online (Because it can be boring during the downtime while searching for carebears to attack :P), also most boring is every other fantasy based mmo.

Yep, you guessed. WAR.
Most boring: Maple Story. Farming was absolutely all there was to the game.
Most fun: Guild Wars. Signature says it all.
Boring: Eve. Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw explains: www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/208-Eve-Online
Fun: GW. The PvE isn't that great if you're alone but it has so much good in it to beat the competition.

Anyway, anyone saying EvE/WoW/FF clearly haven't played free MMOs before :P
My choice of most fun would be EQ
My choice of most boring would be The Matrix Online
Boring : Runes of Magic (WoW clone, it was shoking and i played till lvl 20/20)
Fun: The chronicles of spellbor (the combat system is unique realy basicaly oblivion online)
Boring: Warhammer online. I was bored out of my mind before hitting level 4.
Fun: Guild Wars. It's fast, difficult and diverse.
for me, my best game is Megaten- cos ive always wanetd a summoner based game, and we do miss when we thought pokemon was good. ti really feels like playing 2 charcaters at once, and the battlle system requires brains rather than freakish lvl.
