Now about the videos we see that "claim a huge siege" when you look at em you can clearly see there is in no point in time huge blobs of people fighting eachother, we only see prob 30 people tops at any given time. sad indead
Clearly I am not a real Darkfall player because I have good performance. But hey, at least I don't sit on the official forums for games I hate hoping to find something to post about on the MMORPG.com forums. I think after reading this post I will cancel my account and have my entire guild cancel as well. Some random guy on the MMORPG.com forums who doesn't have the game told me it doesn't run well.
Are you saying the person who posted on the official darkfall forums with his performance issues is not a realy darkfall player?
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

definately more than 30 tops... game has its flaws but its gone alot forward just in a month
Finally some vids with 100+ numbers. Do you have by any chance any vids from famed 2000+ battles?
i was under the impression they gave out a total of 1000 <-> 1500 accounts so far? how did they manage 2000++ playerrs congruently on the server which is stated to have issues supporting the starting 1000??
i too would like to see this 2000 man battle as most games i see (Gw/WoW/AOC/War) are all 100++ people or smaller you rarely see MMOs with 1000+ as they tend to not only lag the server but most camra players have bad FPS for it so the video looks like crap

Really if you have a good performance thats ok, but why don't you accept that some people have a problem with that? You are really trying to disavow that there are gamebreaking problems in the game for reasons that I can not understand.
Some players will have better performance than others due simply to the fact that they have different hardware. For exaple, I never had an issue running AOC, even at launch. Others were not so fortunate. The same is true for Darkfall. I have been involved in large battles and have not had issues with significant loss of FPS or lag, others have. So the "game breaking issues" are not so, for me.
Point is, if DF performs well on some PCs and not so well on others, this is still an issue for DF at large. Customers have to decide on whether DF is for them, they also need to decide whether DF is for their PC. A better game design would take care of the latter, so that gamers only need to like DF to buy it, without worries about whether their PC hates DF. Using WoW as illustration only (oh ok some fanboys here will call be WoW carebear without the need to read any more), the games runs in just about any PC. This is the design AV should consider learning from.
Do you feel personally attacked everytime someone critisizes the game? You didn't made the game, so why do bother so much? Its like you are trying to convince the majority of people who read this forum that everything is ok with the game while small percentage would buy the game and a small fractional amount of them would ever have the chance to purchase it.
I don't. Then again, there are many here that simply talk crap without having any first hand knowledge of what it is they are saying.
Be tolerant, understand and appreciate. If people care to criticise, they still care. A good developer should read from the criticism and draw ideas for improvement. When the day comes when no one cares to talk to DF developers seeking improvements, DF is dead, b/c no one cares. Want to look at Roma Victor?
And it is good that mmorpg.com exists because in the offcial forums every inconvenient thread gets either flamed, locked or rather deleted (mostly every post about rampant use of hacks and no these are not troll posts), so its hard for a new interested player to find out what negative points he needs to accept before trying to purchase the game, the official hompage with wrong feature informations is extremly out of date so the page doesn't help.
Indeed.
I don't have a problem if someone enjoys Darkfall, but I hate to see when developers selling shitty and half made mmo games for the full price and lie evertime they open their mouth. I became suspicious about games who promise to deliver the gamers heaven on earth after being disappointed too often. The posts and threads about the really negative points in the game repeat too often (here and in the official forum), to be just troll posts.
Doesn't match my experience with the game or, in fact, AV, so I can't really relate to your view. There are, btw, a lot of trolls, but more so, a lot of people that simply like to complain. No need be personal, they are just talking about a game, keep the focus on the game, without resorting to naming them trolls. It does not help, apart from alienating people more. Unless you want them to leave the game, and let you play it with yourself and the few friends left.
This is the more readable comments from the yes camp, so my comments here. I do not want to respond to the one line wonders of javac, for obvious reasons.
WoW is used as an illustration, of a company who does things differently from AV. If that illustration qualifies me as WoW carebear, there is no need for you to respond.

Using WoW as illustration only (oh ok some fanboys here will call be WoW carebear without the need to read any more), the games runs in just about any PC. This is the design AV should consider learning from. Perhaps, though this issue has more to do with the actual capacity of the the hardware, ie. the capacity of the video card and processor. Many players are still using older hardware. With this hardware they run the game fine, in lesser populated areas, but their comps simply cannot handle 300+ players on their screens. I don't. Then again, there are many here that simply talk crap without having any first hand knowledge of what it is they are saying. Be tolerant, understand and appreciate. Btw, there are no more fanbois anymore, there are only players.
Does it really hurt that much to know that Darkfall is breaking records for large battles in the fantasy MMO genre? all manually aimed as well, no sticky targeting or gimmick special attacks as a substitute either.

Well put and the ones who are playing are content
Finally a game of epic proportions with good engine.
Sounds like they need some sort of real-time quality scaler that kicks in when the FPS drops below a certain threshold, then starts dropping bump maps, texture quality, specularity and geometry. Lighting and shadows should be the 1st to go but the 3d sound issue was always an annoying one but it can make a big difference.
There is NO miracle patch.
95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.
Hope is not a stategy. ______________________________ "This kind of topic is like one of those little cartoon boxes held up by a stick on a string, with a piece of meat under it. In other words, bait."
Gotta love every patch they pop up. They screwed the ati grafic card users now. For them preformance hit the floor for them. even with no settings at all.
Problems patching, people who cannot play due to errors, ati players given the shaft and whats worse, the vitrual memory fiasco is still at large.

Indeed, though as an Nvidia user, myself, I actually saw an increase in performance.

aye i did read that nvidia players did see a slight boost in preformance but for how long? the same nvidia players are still babbleing of the vitral memory leak problem.
They need a test server badly. and I mean BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDDDLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYY!
You mean Tasos made it up? Because that;s where that 2000+ number comes from.
No, you are mistaken. The number comes from an incident where two simultaneous seiges occured on one of the subcontinents (Yssam), (which Tasos called an area).
You mean Tasos made it up? Because that;s where that 2000+ number comes from. You're still a fanboi. The game's half assed launch doesn't change that. It's encouraging to hear that Darkfall can handle the same size battles other games were handling ten years ago. Needing top of the line computers with the newest technology to do it isn't helpful. Maybe someday they'll be able to live up to their claims of huge battles with no lag on moderate hardware. Maybe.
Sure, just like CCP makes up its concurrent user numbers and highest reported node battle of 1400.....
I have a mid-range system (18 month old dual-core AMD, 8800GT, 4GB ram, 2Mbit/sec connection from UK) and i get good performance on battles up to 100ish, never participated in a larger battle than that.
Please list all the games that have a real-time, manually-aimed combat system that supported 2K players fighting in a zone.

No, you are mistaken. The number comes from an incident where two simultaneous seiges occured on one of the subcontinents (Yssam), (which Tasos called an area).
So Tasos didn't say there was a 2000 person battle? Darkfall fanbois didn't come to this very forum claiming a 2000 person battle? Adding the word "area" doesn't change that. Think carefully before you answer because Tasos said there was lag even with them not all being in the same spot. If they had been the game would have been completely unplayble. A 200 person battle isn't a "small skirmish" even in Darkfall despite his claims. It produces a noticible, but not crippling, drop in frame rate even on the best computers.
"Some players have been complaining about lowered performance during massive battles. Now, let's put things into perspective here: Small skirmishes in Darkfall are what other games call "massive battles". We recently had approximately 2000 characters involved in battle in the same area. Battles with several hundred characters are the norm and run very smoothly"
what makes you think that things would be worse? if the 'area' is dealing with all the info then does it matter how far apart the people are? and this is a question not a statement.

Perhaps I was not clear.
What was being referred to was an incident on Yssam where two sieges occured simultaneously. I do not know the specifics of the server architecture, but based on the proxmity of the two locations, these sieges may have, indeed, happened on the same node.
What he does not say is that this 2000 person incident occurred with no issues, nor does he say that this 2000 person incident happened on one specific grid square.
BTW, it did lag the server, significantly, during this incident.
200 person battles are, indeed, skirmishes and do happen fairly frequently. These types of engagements do run smoothly for most players, in my experience.
What I find funny is how all these people try to find all the things wrong with Darkfall, as if Darkfall was relevant in the grand scheme of MMO's. Here's a newsflash to all, as far as the devs and playerbases of the main MMORPG's (WoW, EQ2, LoTRO, WAR) are concerned, Darkfall and it's community don't even register on the radar as something they care about or what they would play. To me, I look at Darkfall in the same category as something like a little niche game that appeals to a couple thousand, but has not the polish, experience or community as any of the major games out there.
Now about the videos we see that "claim a huge siege" when you look at em you can clearly see there is in no point in time huge blobs of people fighting eachother, we only see prob 30 people tops at any given time. sad indead

No that does not make any sense. The whole point of Tasos answer was to reply to the the question "Throne Rage of the Stasis Alliance said, "Lack of varied and meaningful ingame political options, a credible list of city siege features that actually mirror what happens ingame and lack of server optimization for massive siege warfare."
Read carefully what he said: "About massive battles, we don't know of another game that gets even close to supporting the size of battles Darkfall is supporting. We've said before that Darkfall's small skirmishes are considered massive battles in other games. Several hundred players on each side are an everyday occurrence, and we recently had over 2 thousand players fighting in the same area"
Meaning massive battles with several hundred on each side are an everyday occurances, and just recently they had at least one battle of 2000+ fighting in the same area. Now, the whole continent cannot be one area becuase that, frankly, does not make sense. An area around the city makes a lot more sense.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

2000 and not a single one had FRAPS on? Oh hum. Yet a smaller battle of 100 or so maximum and someone has FRAPS on. Whereas I accept there are battle of maybe hundred people all frantically left lcicking with the simple combat model. I do not once believe anything in the blue quote. Tasos is a known liar and exagerates many things. He is not talkjng about concurrent battle but several battles over hours. Its all a slight of hand with this man. His next job will be a magician.
But you fanbots don't help his credibility at all...
Yes we heard it many times by fanboys that Darkfall can host 200 to 400 people battles with little to NO lag. Many of us trolls questioned this and they claimed it be good programming and how darkfall brought MASSIVE back to mmorpgs. Sounds to good to be true doesnt it. So why not check out what real darkfall players actually have to say about this Lagree affair. forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php
read the 1st post and the rest if you want. but we see how the op does everything in his power to try to get some good fps to defend his city from attackers. aprox 100 in the fight dropping his fps to 1-2 fps at LOW settings. Other claim their ping flys out the roof and its unplayable. Hmm this really questions the fanboys credability. comon why lie? why do people even have to basicly shut everything to low, including sound to partake in a battle at medicore fps.
Now about the videos we see that "claim a huge siege" when you look at em you can clearly see there is in no point in time huge blobs of people fighting eachother, we only see prob 30 people tops at any given time. sad indead
Three (3) questions for you.
1. Do you plan on buying the game? If no, then why do you care?
2. Do you own the game? If no, then why do you care?
3. Are you playing the game and experiencing these problems? If no, then why do you care?
Just curious.. I mean, if you don't plan on buying the game, ever, then what's the point of asking questions about it? That is what you are doing right?? Asking a question? (I think it's soemthing like: Is this guy right?)
Gotta love every patch they pop up. They screwed the ati grafic card users now. For them preformance hit the floor for them. even with no settings at all.
My ATI works great, as it always has. I noticed absolutely no decrease in FPS over the last few days, and I play for at least 4 hours a night.
I have been in a few massive battles and yes, performance does decrease, and yes I even disco'd a few times, but the game is incredibly fun. I ran in a guild and frequently had 60+ person groups raping the countryside. I also defended a few cities which easily had hundreds of people present. Is Darkfall perfect? No. What newly released game is? There are issues that need to be resolved, but what's...what is it? $15 a month? I don't even know, but considering lunch costs $6 a day the subscription price is worth it becuase in the meantime I skill up and wait for it to catch on and get even bigger. FFA PvP is where it's at from 1v1 all the way up to total chaotic zerg riots. If you aren't playing fine, but don't be all butthurt because you think the game sucks without even trying it.

Gotta love every patch they pop up. They screwed the ati grafic card users now. For them preformance hit the floor for them. even with no settings at all.
Problems patching, people who cannot play due to errors, ati players given the shaft and whats worse, the vitrual memory fiasco is still at large.
but dont take my word for it just check their website forums.darkfallonline.com/forumdisplay.php
big battles are just going to get worse if they cant even stabalize their client properly
Im going to sell you a dream.

Im going to sell you a dream.
You mean Tasos made it up? Because that;s where that 2000+ number comes from.
No, you are mistaken. The number comes from an incident where two simultaneous seiges occured on one of the subcontinents (Yssam), (which Tasos called an area).
Naive poster is naive.

We've said before that Darkfall's small skirmishes are considered massive battles in other games. Several hundred players on each side are an everyday occurrence, and we recently had over 2 thousand players fighting in the same area".
