1) The game hasn't failed yet 2) There hasn't been an exodus yet becuase peopel that bought DFO generally don't like what other MMOs have to offer. Maybe MO will cause that, but I doubt it (doesn't mean some players won't leave to play MO). 3) The 2/10 score was biased and the review was filled with flase statements either out right lies or just the reviewer not taking the time to actually read the in game manual.
All reviews are biased, they are based on opinion.
Not all are,... some are based on how much $$$ is tossed at the reviewers lol
I hope that every new MMO developer from here on out plays this game so that they can see what NOT to do, I hope that every PR department for every company in video games looks at how Tasos has handled everything and does nothing similar, and I hope especially that Mortal Online is good, because I was actually looking foward to this hyped up piece of garbage.
Im having the time of my life in DF right now Some people just want to see games fail, its amazing. If the person on eurogamer who reviewed DF was a UO vet he would of given DF a 8/10 +
I don't think most here wants the game to fail well at least not until this latest fiasco. What we want is for the lying from Tasos to stop. The game features to be implemented and the sales open to be able to buy the game.
As for the UO vets, I have seen quite a few of them here and I doubt they would give the game an 8/10.
I'm a UO vet, love it more than any game ever released in fact. I might give Darkfall an 8/10, maybe even a 10/10, or perhaps a 5/10 or any other rating... but thats right: I have to pay $53 USD to find out whether it's worth it or not.
No trial? Are you serious? To me, that fails the game right there.
Either Aventurine is truly proud and confident of their game... or they're trying to screw me out of my money. And do to lack of a trial, no one ( who hasn't bought the game) knows which assumption is the true one,
In any circumstance, I'll wait until they come to their senses and release a free trial.
Changing weapons is as easy as pressing a button. If you have a pole in '1', and have a staff equiped, just press '1' and you will equip the pole. Of course, to know that, you have to play the game.
Someday most people will stop muttering about those things that don't know.

Sorry, that is NOT true... you have make a macro. And only in the last patch was the a real hotbar. But offcoarse, you wouldn't of known that because you never thought about it.

Unfortunately, it's not always quite that easy. At a high level, you're right, but there are exceptions and extra keystrokes required, depending on the situation. Here are some examples:
If you have a melee weapon equipped and unsheathed, then switch to a staff, that staff is worthess to you until you also slot a spell. As such, it's two keystrokes, not 1, unless you use a macro.
If you're using a a bow and run out of arrows, it sheathes the bow. So, even if you hit the hotkey for a melee weapon, you also have to unsheathe it. Once again, that's two keystrokes instead of one, unless you use a macro.
It's not always clear when you have a bow or staff equipped and unsheathed - the icon showing they're equipped and ready is tiny and easy to miss in the midst of battle and you're not in 3rd person when you use either a bow or staff. If you're not actively using the bow or staff, even when they're unsheathed, you might not notice them.
By default, the hotkeys to change hotbars are shift+1 - 9. Unfortunately, shift is also the sprint key, so if you make the mistake of attempting to change weapons while sprinting, you'll inadvertently change hotbars and screw yourself
A player will get used to these foibles and/or change hotkeys away from default, but the interface is overly cumbersome.
2/10 for their first review sounds like a failure to me.
The fact that the same reviewer has given LOTRO a 9/10 says is a WIN to me.
it is a GOOD sign a theme park fanbot and WoW / LOTRO kiddie hasnt liked it.
why do fanbois treat DF as a rite of passage? You can't be hardcore unless you suffer the ceremonial torture of DF. Its like they need to continually reassure themselves DF is hated because its "hardcore".

Eh. The fanbois are retarded. I followed Darkfall from 2001 until present day. The game sucks. I played the hardcore games, and did well at them. I cut my teeth on Ultima Online back when it first hit the market in 97. I owned the snot outta folks for 4 years on Darktide in Asheron's Call.
Darkfall is not the next UO, and AC was and probably still is a much better game than DF can ever hope to be. My guild is in DF, but I've pulled out and left it to someone else to run.
Unemployed and need a job? Darkfall is like one. You wake up early, stay late, hate most of it....and you dont get paid. Youre better off browsing the want ads in your local paper.

Lets see in 2003 EVE Online was released to a small subscriber base, but also gave out free trials.
Darkfall has released to a small subscriber base and no trials.
I wonder if you would still think it is pride or something else.
Whether or not Darkfall failed depends on which side of the fence you are. To those who think DF is horrible, it is an absolutely failure. To those actively playing it, the game is great.
However, what we have to take into consideration is that even those lame asian F2P games have a following and most of those are only slightly better than DF. So it's not that far fetched that there are people out there who like the game.
Now, since the game has about 13K subscribers (or anywhere between 40K to 25K depending on how many drinks javac had), we can say with complete confidence that the game is a failure.

I had high hopes for the game but 2/10 in review? Not going to touch this one with a 10ft pole Has the mass exodus from the game began yet?
You cant really tell much this early. It had a bad launch, that is true but Eve could have launched better too and it is doing fine now.
On the other hand is Vanguard still going bad because it's launch and TR is gone completly so it can still go up or down, it all have to do with what happens the next year.
Still, if Tasos will behave like he have recently I think the game will bomb, there are ways you can't behave if you want to attract more players.

It only say that the game launched badly, the end result is yet to be determined.
Besides, they dont have room for much more players right now so if you think like that the game couldn't succed.
Lets use some common sense here. There is absolutely no reason why a company would not want to open its doors to sell copies.
Suscribers to DF are pretty naive to think that they are not paying to beta test and stress test the game for this small company. Its quite clear they do not have the infrastructure to maintain multiple servers. Are you guys aware that they do not even have the staff to keep their website updated. These developers must be complete idiots to think that people are not turned away from trying a game when they go their website and surf parts of the website that hasnt been updated in a year. That is just plain ridiculous and idiotic.
They are doing one of two things. Either way they are using their small subscriber base to fund a game that isnt ready for mass production. They are either using the money so they can afford the infrastructure to have more servers and build an infrastructure...... OR..... they need the money and are only letting a few people in b/c they KNOW their game is a piece of crap atm moment and do not want a mass purchase and a mass cancellation after they see how horrible and unfinished their game is. And they are hoping to sacrifice a small amount of clients to use their money to better the game before opening up sales. Everyone knows that a game that has a horrible launch, never really fully recovers. Its hard getting people to come back to a game they already tested and thought was crap. And these devs, god bless them, know their game is crap atm.
Either way they are stealing your money to produce their game. These guys are your basic MMO hustlers. Basically why their PR is so bad.... course as soon as they get a bad review..... u see more communication w/ those guys in 3 days than you see w/ suscribers in the past year. Tbo the only website I have seen that did a review and didnt absolutely trash this game, was mmorpg.com.
I have played the game on a friends account, and I'll agree w/ most..... It's definetely a sandbox MMO, only prob there is no sand in it. So i have to agree with most.. this game is a dissapointment.

Iiii-iiiiiit's.... me!!! *Hooray*
and you can 100% be sure the game will be perfect and everyone will want to play it? hm?
Sorry but thats what I said about WAR, and look what Mythic did to it, all i know is DFO is out, and it's an ok game
Well, I stopped playing df as soon as I saw that video. So for me..... it failed.
Graphics don't make a good game.
It had nothing to do with the graphics. It looks 10x more fun.

The rules of Debate are really simple; once you have to stoop to insults instead of facts, logic, or reason to try and win your argument, you've lost.

The 2/10 review rating isn't going to help it succeed, to put it lightly.
