Also forums represnt less than 1 percent of people playing the game, if you dont know how I can explain later.

Do you know why most MMO developers will impliment changes based upon what they read on thier forums, and don't kid yourself, they do this.  Av is also doing this.  I give them credit, they suck at communicating, but they do listen, a little.

They do this because the forums is usually a good representation of player opinion.

Even though only a small percentage of people will post on the games forum, it doesn't mean that that small percentage isn't the magority opinion.

It's like how they count a large group of people.  They don't count every single individiual, they count a small cross section of individuals and then apply that section across the whole to get a fairly accurate total.  It may be off a little by a + or -, but it's typically very close.

So when you see that small percentage of people posting on a game forum saying that something is wrong, guess what, something is wrong.  People can say all they want that the people posting don't play the game, but that's not true.  They either did play, or are playing.  I don't believe they ALL played or are, but very few of the people taking the time to actually post on the official forum NEVER played.

The same feelings you read on the official forums are being expressed in game as well.  People are talking in game, and a lot of people are talking about what needs to be fixed to make the game fun; with lasting appeal.

And as Damian asked you, have you seen a naval battle yet?

Yes but you are missing one small point. People love to make negative posts re "OMGZ I QUIT!" people who dont make posts such as "I DONT QUIT!" unless its to annoy particular poster.

So the perception that everybody is leaving is wrong, people quit MMOs all the time, you just need to know MMO life cycles to understand user numbers and explanations for them. Also Devs dont bother with "General discussion" section of the forums for obvious reasons, they stick to suggestion section and dot forget they ahve their own mind made up on how to develop their own game, so they dont follow players advice 100%.

Oh and about naval battles, I would imagine they happen at sea some place? since i havent bothered to even go out to sea in a raft I dont know. Besides its not a naval simulator, if it was then i would understand you but its not the main focus of the game, so whats this fuss about naval battles? Even If clans worked out that building fleets is not that viable then whats wrong with that?

I don't know what you troll haters are still whining about, the 17 min "100% gameplay" promotional pre launch video from last year already proved Darkfall has large naval battles.

um, actually, the lack of people ingame, says a lot more than the 'i quit' posts.

lost minions.... holding hal'kali AND a hamlet...   4 or 5 active players IN lost minions....

speaks worlds more than any argument on here.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

Yeah... not sure how many different ways we can say it, and point it out.

DarkFall is bleeding subscribers fast.  They are gaining new subscribers at a painfully slow drip.  The geyser leaving has far out-paced the tiny dribble coming in.

Now some will say that is because people are waiting for the new NA server launch.  Ahh... so then EU-1 will magically be "fixed" for it's population once the NA server launches?

If someone isn't playing on EU-1 now because they are waiting for the NA server... wouldn't that mean that it will be just as bad or worse once the NA server does launch?

Anyway... this thread was just another example of some of the stuff that was shown by Aventurine before the game launched and that the fans said would make this game special.

As clearly pointed out by it's ABSENCE in this thread (large naval battles)... it's just another example of more hype by Tasos, Aventurine and the ardent supporters.

Even Features that are in game are not SEEN in game.  It really is sad.

    LOL!!!

Darkfail admins should just allow free for all hacking in the game, that would make it more interesting.  Then there would be massive naval battles in the sky and everywhere.  If everyone was allowed/encouraged to use hacks then it might actually become a pretty cool and genuinely revolutionary game, instead of just a lump of crap.

Hack wars can be a lot of fun, with different clans building their own custom trainers and stuff, it would be all out total war.  Hell, I would love to play a game like that, the devs can advertise it as part of their features.  Some parameters would need to be put in place, such as no hacking the server, and no hacking other people's accounts.  Other than that, let it be a real free for all, a REAL sandbox game where players can do anything they want.

    The one and only.

LOL! Great stuff. That one in particular, Ferous Cranus, perfectly describes at least one rabid DF fan we all know around here; no matter how many times you explain something, how many things you point out, facts you cite, examples you give or quotes you provide, nothing gets through.

Hahaha that really might be a start to turn the tide around for Darkfall.  Flying boats, flying mounts with legs not wings, flying player without wings nor turbines, instant warping persons.  How about a flying city?  How about sending harvest to the bank via flying mounts?

Oh yeah flying cities attacking each other in the air.  Why just in the air, why not go underground.  Clan A moving under the ground to attack the city of Clan B under the ground, under the sea.

Why not let the players design their own spells, weapons, armor, talent tree.  Now bazukas, space ships, laser guns, oh aoe bombs, atomic bombs.  Instant steal everything on you spells.  Jedis and light sabers ftw.  We can resurrect the long dead SWG here. Woot.

Lets make it imaginative, lets call it free-for-all pvp, err no free-for-all hacking game.  Free DF, spaceship darkfall, whatever fall, subscription, surely falls.

    Oh well

I'd be surprised if there has been a single instance of a ship's cannon being fired at another ship

I saw a naval battle the other night, maybe a handful of ships not the big,big ones though. I ran from it as you may imagine because i didn't want them to steal my fish :).

But yea, there are boats in the game, and if you play, you see them and yes they do battle each other, so there...you know.

"Large" is in the eye of the beholder.

    OP can rest assured.

So how about making a video of one. Some of us would like to see a naval battle. So far all I have seen is boats flying or shooting at the land.

So, if the game doesnt have a video of ships shooting each other then the game has failed?

I have a feeling you got confused with games. Pirates of the Burning Sea MMO is all about ship combat, go ask them for a video, if they cant provide you with that then your complaining is fully justified. But DF is not a naval simulator.

He didn't say it failed.  He asked for someone to make a video of a battle, since the only thing that most of us have seen is the infamous flying dutchman or a raft.  Where did you get the idea, "this game has failed because there are no videos of ships shooting one another" from his post? Please do break down his post and show me this, I beg of you, I need the entertainment.

    Defensive much?

**Edit - Just an added thought, you are attacking a guy who hasn't even posted anything anti DF in this thread.  He asked for a video.  A freaking video and this offends you and sets you on the offensive? Wow.

What does what you wrote have anything to do what I asked?

The game is suppose to have naval battles. Fast3ddy said he saw one, I would like to see one.  So show me one.

I never said the game failed because I have not seen a video of naval battles.  However this is suppose to be a sandbox game with NAVAL BATTLES.

I think you are the one confused, since you didn't understand my simple request.

But yea, there are boats in the game, and if you play, you see them and yes they do battle each other, so there...you know.

What does what you wrote have anything to do what I asked?

Got your answer.  Absolutely nothing.  Cristina1 seems a bit high strung methinks.

I would say people have already defined DF as a failure for myriad other cited and supported reasons... at least in terms of what it is, versus what it was hyped to be by Tasos and co. A lack of massive naval battles may be just one more to add to the list.

As for your arguing that it's not a naval simulator... No, it isn't. However, that's also a disingenuous way to characterize the question.

Massive naval battles were one of the boasted features of DF going back many months. It's a feature that some fans in the past have cited as a "revolutionary" feature that places DF ahead of other PvP MMOs.

Yet, no one's posted a single vid of any such event happening yet...

Then, when someone questions the lack of naval battles, certain folks immediately do the classic "Darkfall Two-Step" and start arguing the other side. On a dime, they go from citing Naval Battles as a revolutionary feature making DF superior to other MMOs, to downplaying it as something unimportant because DF isn't a naval simulator.  I'm sure at least one or two here would swiftly re-categorize it as "fluff that isn't necessary" to that end as well.

It's right up there with all the claims that DF would revolutionize MMORPGs and change people's expectations of what  MMO should deliver... Only to do the Darkfall Two-Step when the game failed to deliver on much of its hyped revolutionary features. Their response then changed to, "well, AV is just an indie team. It's unfair to have such unrealistic expectations of them".

Rabid Darkfall Fans... forever arguing all sides of a situation.
