I was in a similar situation i guess but not with gaming but study/work/ambitions and wanting to reach higher goals in my career. Im only 21 and i know i have a long life ahead of me and know that when i get where i want in my career it will settle down and i can concentrate more on the now.
Me and my gf had a great relationship but seeing i worked and studied alot, things started going downhill abit and our converstations, spending time together was getting together. She was 29 and her priorities were different, she already had her career undersway and was slowly gearing up for children and future of us being together. I loved her and wanted to be with her but i saw what i was doing to do, lack of spending time and communicating with her and i could tell that it would just get worse when i continue to push my goals to where they are. So i broke it off, it was the hardest thing in my life, this was a few weeks back and im still abit upset but i know it will be the best for both of us.
Things have gone much better for me though for my studies and working, can concentrate and do what i can now to pursue my goals.
Also, there is a sense of freedom i guess again.
The thing is that, even if you care for the person and either you cannot make time for her, or visversa and you know you might be hurting her, then maybe its best to break it up.
You could also try talking to her and advise her of that you have specific gaming needs that have to be met for your daily intake of fun/entertainment - what is her hobby? Relate to her hobby for examle, maybe shopping, or the gym or something. Say this is your time and when its your time you would like to have it that way.
Saying that, sometimes you should take the time to move aside your hobby and spend time with her. I took time away from study and my hobby (what is sport 4 nights a week) to be with her, but i just couldnt keep it up.
I guess what im trying to say is that try and talk to her, convince her that you would like her to respect your interests and when you take the time to do them. Also respect hers aswell in return. Otherwise if she is looking for a greater relationship and you are not willing to commit, then give it up, because she might not be saying it but might she could be hurting inside because of it, i dont know - i dont know how good your relationship is. Look in your heart and see what you want now, and in the future because eventually a decision will have to be made by yourself and or her.

Get off the game man, my bet is you spend more time on WoW then with your girl. There is a time and a place for everything, if your ignoring her for video game entertainment then she deserves better then you. IMO you need to get your priorities in line.

It is just a game...and not a very good game. I mean if you are willing to give up a woman like that for boring repetative raids and pvp you may be the dumbest man alive. But, if you do happen to be the dumbest man alive...give her my number :-)

Comes down to what you want out of life.
I was in a similar situation i guess but not with gaming but study/work/ambitions and wanting to reach higher goals in my career. Im only 21 and i know i have a long life ahead of me and know that when i get where i want in my career it will settle down and i can concentrate more on the now.
Me and my gf had a great relationship but seeing i worked and studied alot, things started going downhill abit and our converstations, spending time together was getting together. She was 29 and her priorities were different, she already had her career undersway and was slowly gearing up for children and future of us being together. I loved her and wanted to be with her but i saw what i was doing to do, lack of spending time and communicating with her and i could tell that it would just get worse when i continue to push my goals to where they are. So i broke it off, it was the hardest thing in my life, this was a few weeks back and im still abit upset but i know it will be the best for both of us.
Things have gone much better for me though for my studies and working, can concentrate and do what i can now to pursue my goals.
Also, there is a sense of freedom i guess again.
The thing is that, even if you care for the person and either you cannot make time for her, or visversa and you know you might be hurting her, then maybe its best to break it up.
You could also try talking to her and advise her of that you have specific gaming needs that have to be met for your daily intake of fun/entertainment - what is her hobby? Relate to her hobby for examle, maybe shopping, or the gym or something. Say this is your time and when its your time you would like to have it that way.
Saying that, sometimes you should take the time to move aside your hobby and spend time with her. I took time away from study and my hobby (what is sport 4 nights a week) to be with her, but i just couldnt keep it up.
I guess what im trying to say is that try and talk to her, convince her that you would like her to respect your interests and when you take the time to do them. Also respect hers aswell in return. Otherwise if she is looking for a greater relationship and you are not willing to commit, then give it up, because she might not be saying it but might she could be hurting inside because of it, i dont know - i dont know how good your relationship is. Look in your heart and see what you want now, and in the future because eventually a decision will have to be made by yourself and or her.

Get off the game man, my bet is you spend more time on WoW then with your girl. There is a time and a place for everything, if your ignoring her for video game entertainment then she deserves better then you. IMO you need to get your priorities in line.

Your going to be mistaken if you thinkg any women is going to put up with this type of thing unless shes a fellow gamer as well. Anyone who cares for you will support a health habit, but not obession.

I didn't read the whole thread but if she's not a gamer then yes actually it might be. It's highly possible she finds your game threatening, just like how girlfriends find their boyfriend's close female friend(s) really threatening... My husband's ex-girlfriend was not a gamer and she used to have serious tantrums when he got up at night to play video games, 'cause that's the only time he got enough peace and quiet to game.... She'd wake up and yell at him and say he was probably more attracted to the game then her... lol....
Women will wig out at things that take away attention from them, the only way to alleviate that is make them like what you like... Or at least point out they have a hobby that takes away attention from you. If she doesn't have one, she needs one. So that when you're raiding she's not all alone feeling pathetic and is busy doing her own thing.
