Personally I would like to have the Win 7 edition as an free update (or with a highly reduced price) for Vista owners. Cause its more like a updated/improved Vista then a whole new operation system....people that bought Vista in the last few years still have problems with it which will be fixed in Win 7.........:S

I have the RC on my computer already, and I can get a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate for free through my school, so I'll be getting it when it comes out. I'll probably still keep my XP partition though.
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike Loved: Star Wars Galaxies Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
using win7 RC right now as well and I also really like it. as for Vista, I guess I lucked out or something because I have never had any serious issues with it (other than it being a major resource hog).
but to answer the question, yes I will be buying win7 because it increases the performance of my games over Vista. So far I haven't had a single game or any other program for that matter not work in win7.
lots of welcome back programs, betas, and free trials going on so I have been able to check out a few games in win 7.
mmog's that work just fine in win7 (for me)
WoW, RoM, TCoS, DDO, Second Life, LoTRO, AoC, WAR, Fallen Earth

Any gamer who runs a bleeding edge OS instead of waiting at least a year is an absolute moron. The support isn't going to be there, and it won't be encompasing for at least that long. If you're cool with having to ask "Does it support windows 7 ;;" every time you want to try something, go right ahead...
I've been running it for over a year and a half ( legit as a TechNet tester, not "cracked" off torrent sites ) with no game compatibility issues with anything other than Gameguard when trying to play AION ( and considering Gameguard is a rootkit, the fact Win 7 blocks it out tells me it's working as intended ) and Tage DRM used on Darkstar One ( which is the same rootkit type shit as Gameguard ). So sorry, this gamer is not a "moron" but is enjoying his "bleeding edge" OS very much, thank you.
For me the deal breaker is no "What u hear" function because Microsoft have disabled it on Windows 7 so the record companies don't moan about people recording their tracks. So legit people who used it for making videos and stuff get burnt.........
Is that Microsoft's fault? Or Windows 7's fault? Nope. And there's free programs to download that work with 7 that do the same thing.
Look at the poor Australians due to the EU forcing all that "anti-trust" shit because of companies like AMD. They get Windows "E", which doesn't even come with a web browser. Why? Because Google and Opera and other browser makers claimed it was unfair, so the EU demanded Microsoft package all of their competitor's browsers for customer's to choose. Would you package your competitor's shit with your product? Neither would MS, so they just removed the browser all together.
EU forcing all that antitrust shit?
If I remember it correct the first antitrust was in US. And that was for the IE in Windows. What that had to do with Australian market, wouldn't that have to do with market rules there?

I assume that you are not blindly defending MS?
No, I'm not "blindly defending" MS.
The anti-trust issue in the U.S. over browser competition was dismissed, rightly so, because there is nothing preventing a user of any Windows system from simply downloading and installing the browser of their choice, which is what should have been the same answer to the EU case.
The current anti-trust lawsuist in the U.S. are from Apple, Intel, AMD, etc. charging MS with pressuring companies to withhold or delay certain hardware/software technologies, as well as "strongarming" resellers into selling only hardware ( such as cpus in the Intel/AMD case ) by companies willing to "play ball" with MS. For example, forcing Intel to brand computer made with their cpus as "Vista Ready", when in fact even Intel told MS their low end cpus at Vista's release would barely, if at all, suffice.
If that suit is found valid, MS deserves what it gets.
That, however, has nothing to do with the browser being eliminated from European versions of Windows. The browser issue is the result of the EU government trying to force MS into piggybacking competitor's software for free in Windows.

I have to say I don't follow the antitrust it is just a faint memory.

This was actually new to me, I have been updating myself on that thing these last few minutes. And if MS is not prohibiting, in any way, the use of any other webbrowser. (That was one issue with the antitrust in US?).
I mean I'm using Firefox writing this. And I'm pretty shure that the computer I bought last year had Firefox preinstalled.
I do not know which foot I would stand on, don't know why I even bothered to make my first reply, just don't make any sence to me now 10 minutes after :S

Yeah, resellers are allowed to put other software on a computer as they see fit. That's why Firefox was pre-installed. It's also why even though the EU versions won't contain any browser, more than likely computer sellers will have browsers installed when they sell 'em. The only one's really affected are those who buy the OS itself.

I smile while reading these posts. A coworker and I were talking about this new OS that MS is coming out with.. and he smile and said that EVERY time people think that MS will come out with something that is not bug ridden... The more amusing aspect is wether or not MS will bloat the system they actually issue with useless garbage that will slow down my game play... LOL..
I so yearn for a stable Unix system that has games readily available for it.
To me it feels like how 2000 was to 98 - i.e. same things intact, done more efficiently. It's a pretty safe upgrade, and a heck of a lot less buggy than when 98/xp/vista was at these stages.
nope, i will not. 98SE and 98 came with teh PC's i bought, XP i bought itself. Bought windows ME (pile of crap), bought Vista (pile of crap), if i was to get win7 it will be a pirated version and nothing more as i will not fork out for another pile of crap.
Stuck with using Vista and even microsoft have said it was a pile of shit and windows 7 is how vista should have been (which is why it was based on vista) but with all the problems and performance issue's fixed (or so they say) but i doubt it myself.
I'll be getting it 4sho. Ive been testing it for some time now and its been flawless all my games and programs work, no BSOD or any other types of crashes. I leave my computer on 24/7 most of the time so that is a lot of up time to not have any problems.
People just like being sceptics I never had a problem with Vista and I tested that too I just didn't see a reason to upgrade but now since XP is getting phased out , i have a good computer and 7 is going to be cheap I see no reason to get it. Lets face it people are always going to find an exploit for Windows because there are more people hacking windows compared to OS X and Linux.
I guess you guys can have fun waiting a year or more for SP1 to come out, on your XP machines while im chillin with 7 and having no problems.
microsoft knows they screwed the pooch with the release of vista. thats why win 7 is really just vista service pack 2. i will save my money for when they actually produce a new OS instead of repackaging the vista kernel.
besides i have tested win 7 and it isnt as fast as server '08. although server '08 r2 might be better.
I am sick of Vista, I really think Vista was not a O.S., but some failed try to buy time before doing a real successor to XP.
I ran the RC on a low-end PC and I was impressed by results, thanks to "compatibility hints and helps" I was able to install XP drivers in place of some obviously missing Win7 hw drivers.
Then tested it with some game and seriuos dev stuffs, no problems at all, excluding Gameguard. But as long I think GG uses rootkit's behaviour, I guess Win7 was just doin its own work.
Maybe I'm flying too high, but I think Win7 will be a pain in the ass for the *nix-like O.S. competitors
