The primary difference I see in the 2 threads is that the link you posted is a thread on the WoW Forum and all of the people responding are talking about WoW, as it should be. This thread is in the EQ2 Forum and there are constant references to WoW in it, which makes no sense. So, when judging maturity, it would appear the issue is the lack of maturity in those who like WoW coming into the EQ2 forum to just post non-constructive posts.
BTW- How exactly DOES one get into the "I killed Handa" club?

, if that matters. But you're overlooking something. I don't know how regularly you read these forums, but a lot of us read them regularly. I really don't see people here objecting to constructive or reasonable critical posts. Unfortunately, forums are frequently plagued with trolls, and we certainly are here .... people who have no purpose in life (regardless of what they SAY their purpose is) but seeking to aggravate others and intererfere with their fun,and trash whatever game they are after at the moment.
Now you may pop in now and then and see that someone has said something critical, and in your view gotten wrongly attacked for it. But maybe you didn't see that the same person constantly posts virtually the same thing ... these poorly disguised - pathetically disguised actually - efforts to trash the game which this forum is about, his reason being that he is a WOW fan. Maybe you didn't see the dozens and dozens of similar posts by the same person ... that might just factor into your assessment of how others react
You know, I love to have constructive discussions of the pros and cons of the games I okay, including EQ2. I do it all the time with friends and in other forums. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to have a good discussion here, due to this small band of trolls who seem to have no life but sitting and waiting until they think they have something about EQ2 to jump on. Very sad, but very true.
The thing with Saigonshakes, which you may not have read this forum enough to note, is that he is a pleasant consructive person. I've seen him posting for a long time. If someone has a question, he answers it. If someone needs help, he offers it. I don't see him getting down on anything around here, except for the blatant pathetic trolls. Bottom line: he's right. The Chevy people shouldn't be in the Ford forum bashing Fords and vice versa.
