This is very good news indeed.  I had so many problems with GameGuard throughout the beta.

    Momo sucks, I have proof.

    Suprisingly, he's telling the truth

"After analyzing our open beta test results Aion will not feature GameGuard at launch. We will however continue to pursue ways to effectively utilize GameGuard within Aion in the future. Right now we're focused on providing players with the best possible Aion experience."

Does this mean everyone who said they wouldn't be playing because of GG will now be?

Even NC knows the importance of a smooth launch. Kudos to them!

So they take it out just to get people to buy the game then put it back in later...people don't want it at all, kinda lame.

personally, i never had issues with GG even with norton 360 and firewall on vista 64bit. but this is good news for those having GG nightmares. and hopefully wil attract those who were turned off by GG. first oceanic servers, now this, who said NCwest dont listen. maybe they are starting to listen to customers now

Probably not since they are still saying they will put it back in later.

I've never cared for GameGuard either. I've played quite a few F2P games that use GameGaurd and there is so much cheating in the game is redonkulous. yeah i said redonkulous wanna fight about it :D

i'm glad ncsoft is abandoning gameguard.

Good for them! NcSoft realized GameGuard was a major problem with OB, wasn't able to fix it to allow for a smooth retail release of the game and dropped it! Thank you NcSoft!

Why so you can invest time playing to have them put it back in and have the game not work. This wont bring thiose people back. Its not worth the risk.

Meh...gameguard didn't effect me at all so I don't really care.

  • EphimeroEphimero Member Posts: 1,860

well, this sure puts pressure under gameguard for them to improve their product, the aion team has noticed many people had issues with gameguard, and they removed it until those issues are fixed, obviously.

Umm... it's nice that they are currently removing GG and all... it's also a fact it doesn't guards much and beta feedback was massively towards either making it decent or removing it, but what do they have now for cheat detection and prevention? A GM taskforce spread over 24 servers?

Sure it effects you, you just don't care. It invades your privacy and hooks your antivirus for starts. Not good stuff.

there will be as much cheating as when gameguard was present.  I still don't understand how people ever thought gameguard was security in any form at all.

  • DameonkDameonk Member UncommonPosts: 1,914

This is very good news for the game.  I know a ton of people that were not going to be playing because of Game Guard.

I personally never had an issue with the software but I know this will increase player happiness and most likely provide a boost in sales as well.

Well, GG doesn't really work anyway from what I have googled on it. Looks like it can be easily bypassed if you want to cheat. Personally I'm more worried about my own system being compromised by GG then I am about people cheating. I don't want to give up my security for theirs. They need another solution more in the lines of what other games do IMO.

Never had issues myself, but expect to see preorder and sale numbers head further up.  I just wish they'd find a different security fix than GG.  This may lead to that, if GG can't get their act together and they can find another provider.  Holding my breath over here.

Best decision they could make for the NA release.  Now if they can get some solid GM's and a team to monitor the servers they could keep it clean without causing frustration to legit players.

lol game guard never prevented this in the first place, its a joke. my friend was one of the ones having trouble with GG so he just disabled it, some one else said google it, its easy to bypass. he just had to put something in its folder to turn it off.
