I keep reading "YOU CAN'T USE COMPARISONS, NOOB. THAT'S RETARDED". No. Okay? No. All you Aion haters (and no, I don't play the game. Hell, I havn't even been on the website or looked at any videos.) are making a comparison as well. Though you may not be listing the actual game or ideal of MMORPGs you're comparing it to, you're still comparing it.
Stop being such hypocrites and learn to deal with it. Why feel the need to come on here and bash a game if you know other people are enjoying it? Honestly. Not everybody is as spoiled as you. I'm sure Aion will end up with a fair amount of people playing it by the sounds, since there are very few of these "I HATE THIS GAME QQ" threads as compared to other recent launches. Once people start hitting cap if the PvP is good and balanced, I may give it a try myself.
And, honestly? Level 22 out of 50 in 2 days? How the fuck is that a grinder? You'll be max by the end of 2 or 3 weeks. That's a fraction of the time other games take.
People who are saying those things that obviously offend you for no apparent reason, are not trying to "bash" the game. They are trying to spread the experience they had with playing the game. I dont see how that is bashing. Me saying, yes there is a ton of grinding, its really well done, but boring, is not in any way bashing....
You also say they got to 22 in 2 days, so OBVIOUSLY they will get to 50 soon then. But if you knew Korean MMOs and almost every other MMO known to man, the experience needed to level from mid to high is exponentially larger than the first levels. Along with lower exp from killing mobs and quests. So....maybe YOU shouldn't be in the Aion forums..
If you simply grind a little bit throughout quests and stuff you don't run into this issue I don't think. Example I was doing some gathering and farming some mobs at the same time. I'll probably gain a level or 2 grinding alone while doing that so it works out in the end. IF you just kill, go turn in quests, etc then you may fall a little short. What game doesn't have some form of grinding?
Well... I made the mistake of pre-ordering this game. It sounded fun, looked fun, was fun.... for the first 20 levels. Now at lvl 22 I find myself stuck doing repeatable mob kill quests (capped out at 100 repeats and trust me, there are a ton of these quests and the reward is only 3x the amount of ex as one mob). I had fun pre-20 but i mean seriously, hitting super grind mode after lvl 20? thats freaking ridiculous. I have played my share of grinders, Lineage, L2, hell i even play rappelz from time to time, and thats just a constant grind, but it is somewhat enjoyable. this game pretty much seems like a harder asian version of WoW with different graphics and the LIMITED ability to fly. most areas are no fly zones, the fly time is limited. (i know i am only lvl 22 right now but i can only fly for around1-2 minutes at max and if i am not on the ground by the time my wings pop off i take a serious hit, if you fall for a certain amount of time (even if you hit nothing) you also die. Anyone else sharing the same feelings I have?
umm did you go to the second lvl 20+ zone? i doubt it, most of you only go to the zone you was led to by the 1 quest you had to go to the main rift zone area.
no its nowhere near as bad as the "super asian grinders" you sound more like you'd be happier with an "MMO" like WoW where everythign is givin to you.
as others have stated i can't wait for the WoWtards to hit 20 so they can qq/ragequit so they can take their barrens chat with them.
I agree that after lvl20 there seems to be alot of these 100x repeatable grindquests. I hit 23 and had to do after alot of them already, hopefully the endgame is worth it.
Problem for me with all these "kill all mobs and return" quests is that my Cleric isn't exactly fast doing them, while my mates with other classes (mainly the Sorc) literally BURN through them and level ahead at lightspeed. I predict a serious lack of healers in the endgame for the first few days after the main bulk hits 40+.
Except for the Black Claw camp so far there was exactly ZERO healing needed since bandages and pots do the job so well, the whole game so for consists of killing single mobs only. In 23 levels i haven't met a single group of mobs.
I'm now considering to reroll because my healer is just not the right class to go through this this kind of content.
Good for you guys you can afford the retail where alot of asian peeps eager to play this game but can't afford 14$ per month, make it F2P and they'll show you whats grinding

Grinding is not hard at all. Is aion a generic asian mmo? Yep.
Most people would agree exept for the rabid fanbois .
Agree with what exactly? With grinding not being hard? I suppose it isn't, it just takes time. But that's a universal trait, not just Aion specific.
Is Aion a generic Asian MMO? Don't know, what are the main characteristics of Asian MMOs? The art? Can't be the grind, since it's on equal foot with the most popular western MMOs in terms of time sinks. You'd be closer to the truth if you called Aion a generic western MMO with Eastern art style.

Traits of an Asian MMO:
Private stores -- Check
Art style -- Check
Grind -- Check (Grinding to me means killing mobs over and over in one spot until you hit level because you ran out of quests, popular western MMO's don't do it like that)
Potion heavy to get through battles -- check
I'm probably missing some more but those are the main things. Everyone has a different definition to what grinding is. Mine is when you have to sit there and kill the same mobs over and over again to hit level (ala EQ). You may say that there is grinding in WoW, but at least I'm questing moving from objective to objective. It at least makes it bearable.

Private stores is a nice addition to the generic auction house. I hope they are included to other MMOs as well.
Art style is an art style. You either like it or not.
Grind ... I haven't run out of quests so far (early 20s). If I do, I'll let you know. If you're forcing yourself to kill mobs repeatedly to advance, you're doing something wrong.
Potion heavy ... you're definitely doing something wrong. You shouldn't be needing potions, unless in an emergency.
Aion is something between a Western and an Asian MMO.
game controls can be customized to be played either as western or Asian.
Has more "grind" / time required to reach cap than WoW but way less than typical Asian games that you kill four hours to see you bar go up for 1% and need years to reach the cap.
In game features and mechanics from both "worlds".
Altho I hate grinding... I must say that now it's a blessing! So many complete idiots and WoW kiddies have overrun the servers at the moment. At least all these idiots will hit a brick wall soon, start crying and go away within a month. So for now, the level20+ grind is a blessing!
Isn't it funny how people are always calling the"immature and childish" WoW idiots names? As if the "WoW kiddies" were on an internet messageboard calling people idiots and immature retards. I find it amusing and I don't even play WoW.
And of course they'll go back and leave you guys to your Aion. Aion isn't all that great of a game. It's a typical Eastern grinder mmo with a hype machine that puts funcom's hype machine to shame. Plus their game is much more fun. Aion is the only mmo I've played that I didn't like any aspect of it at all.

Anyways, it's very Asian grinder... But it must have something more, I guess, 'cause I've not gotten tired of it yet, and I usually have a very short attention span if nobody's there to feed me RP...
Or possibly I'm just waiting to see what's behind the next corner because this can't be all there is to it... dunno, yet...
"So I contend that the player stories will always be more powerful than the scripted stories that we try to tell the players."
No...it may be obvious, however, that some people that don't LIKE what someone is saying, automatically begin screaming "TROLL!" That much may be obvious....
There's nothing wrong with designing a game with a heavy emphasis on grind. Let's just see if everyone who is enjoying the game now is playing in a few months time, I think the grind will get boring by then.

22+ in 2days thats one hell of a grind indeed! its not even amonth yet you might be surprise when you reach 50 end of the month?...
Today is a good day to die

what?? so you point getting to Lv22+ in 2days still consider a grind mmo? When the max lv is Lv50.. not like AOC OR WOW to LV80.
