Dear friends of Wish:

Unfortunately we have bad news.

After careful consideration of all the facts and analyzing all the data which we have gathered from the Wish Beta 2.0 test so far, we have decided to cancel the Wish project.

Our Beta test will end this evening at 6pm EST, and at this time our Beta forums will close as well.

We enjoyed working together with our fans very much, and we are very sorry about this development. We wish you the best of luck in the future, and hope that you continue to enjoy online gaming, even with Mutable Realms and Wish not being available anymore.

We also wish the best luck to our competitors, and hope that they will not suffer the same fate as us.

Best regards,
Your Mutable Realms Team

It's true. Just saw it at the Wish homepage.

This is shit. I was going to this game.

I think they were checking the MMORPG.com forums. Everyone here's been pretty hard on the game. Not to mention the fact that they REQUIRE WinXP, which some of us refuse to use for now, as it's still too buggy. Not to mention the most unsecure piece of garbage out there. We can only hope they will take the same path as say Rubies of Eventide, where someone will come in with a wad of cash, pick up the rights, and make it a semi-p2p game for all to enjoy. While I didn't get the chance to try it, I liked the novel approach they were taking and going back to the roots of the genre with similar gameplay and features to UO. Goodbye Wish, and may you walk back into the light sometime soon.

SOE makes decent games that appeal to nerds. Their customer service is run by jocks who bully nerds. Wonder why SOE sucks so bad...

I think he was referring to operating systems, not to programs... WinME is only a GUI Program for MS-DOS ::::07::

BOT: What a pity - although still being pretty buggy, I think they could have made it to gold status. And, regarding the OS - it wouldn't have been too hard to extend support for Win2k, which isn't half as bad as "WinET", imho....

I beta tested WinME :P I promptly threw the CD out my window into a busy street after the garbage they sent me screwed everything of mine up.

LOL. I know the feeling. I installed the thing. Once it was installed, I went to my cd case to fetch my MS Office cd. By the time I returned (approx. 45 seconds later), Windows had crashed onto a blue screen for no apparent reason ::::02::
I knew enough by then. Promptly reformatted and put back good 'ole 98 ( a piece of crap too, but better than millenium ::::02::)

In either case, I use neither Win2k or WinXP. Win2k is more for networks than home use (as it's built off of the 4.0 OS forgot the name). Win98 for me works just fine, and does everything I need it to and is quite stable. This however is the last I'll say about OS here, as it's not related to the cancellation of Wish. I'm trying to contact the CEO of Mutable Realms now to see if there's a way to bring it out like RoE. If I hear anything, I'll post in here looking for people to help me with the project.

::::16:: I was playing it and found this out......

It was the most fun i've had with an mmorpg since my first play at UO ::::16::

  • Go figure, a light at the end of the tunnel to my hatred of the leveling grind and allowing new players to openly travel with older players and POOF, gone in a moment.  They should have at least posted the REAL reason why on the site.   This game ran fine on my XP2000+ and was a ton of fun.  This easily should have gone Gold, but now we are left with the likes of DAoC, EQ, and WoW.

This has officially been the worst decision I have seen in a long time.

Not a fan of wish but always sorry to see a small name mmorpg get cancelled.

Guess we indeed live in the era of brand named mmorpgimage

  • OminisOminis Member Posts: 1,015

Dang it. Another one of the little guys down. Seems like the only way to succeed in the field of MMORPGs is to bring along a large brand name with it. It's really too bad, most of the cancelled ones had pretty good ideas.

It really doesn't matter if it was made by a big or small company.

    It was crap.

I can't believe it finally had some fun and high hopes again because it semed they could pull it off and now this, a very sad day for the mmorpg world. Now WoW or (stupid) EQ2 gets even more people on their servers, just hope DnL don't get flushed because then i believe there is a conspiracy going on

One day all will die, surely you but never I.

    This is a shame :(

I was really getting into the whole concept of wish.

Took me a few days to get inot its system because I had become so ingrained with the whole levelling and cookie cutter games that came before.

It must be hell to try and develope something different and its the small companies that try it. So another game trying to buck the trend goes out of existence.

When alls said and done I hope we hear the reasons behind it are that they decided they couldnt implement there ideals and rather than go back to the same as every other they decided to cut there losses. If its due to ideals then I can sympathise, I would hate for them to have got to release and just release the same old game

Great news. I'm so happy when low budget / unknow / bad MMORPG's gets cancelled. Developers/Publishers used to think MMORPG genre is an easy way to get our money, now they finally starting to realise it's not.

  • OrccOrcc Member Posts: 3,043

DAMNIT! I really liked this game! It had so much potential! God, this really came out of the blue... first UXO, now this... whats next, FoM or DnL? ::::26::

    Very good for us gamers.

    Like they said.

    Bad games SHOULD be canceled.

There is a reason they canceled it.

Cause they will make NO money.

Next time they will LISTEN to fans, and make the game enjoyable.

This game wasn't going to make ANY money.

It is a good thing they canceled it or they would have all been waisting thier resources.

They prolly have been hired by a competitor.

    Now make your guess!

    - "Solo is, will always be, the main market. A MMORPG that succeed with little or no solo appeal is doing great considering they are ignoring the main player base.''

    This is really sad.

I was playing in beta 2-0, and was just getting into the swing of things. It was a fantastic game, with great crafting and events.

sure, the graphics were not the best out there... and the game wasn't a "insta gratifaction" game.. but it was very satisfying to see your character get journeyman in a skill, to explore and try different things.

    <sigh>

    another great loss.

and i'd really love to see the full explanation (which we have not got yet)

    Never said anything about wow.

I am sure some people LIKED wish.. very few even LOVED it.

But game companies will no make the money of those minorities.

The Majority of the people that played it were dissapointed and did not like the direction, and controls and things they were NOT going to change.

If you and Copeland were the only 2 playing it, it would have been canced any ways.

I think the same fate should hit Dark and light if they mess up.

this MARKET is SATURATED with MMORPGs THEY need to stop PUMPING them out just cause they think people will pay for em.

MMORPG has to be fun. And if you want to bring WOW into it... then fine.. the MAJORITY thinks it is FUN. and That is what makes $$$$$.. And that is why it is and will always be around.
