Depressing, I'm loving beta and the live content. It's defintely not a game for most of the MMOG population but it does cater to the other nice chunk of old school mudders and roleplayers (real roleplayers). I really hope they don't let some bad flames get them down..

No. It is true.. the majority of the people that played wish didn't care for it. And in a market of FUN games. Wish was on th ebottom of thier list.
I'm really really sad, The basics of this Game were great and it caputered the old feeling again. Most problems could have been solved and it would have survived, there are mmorpgs with smaller player base that do well.

Besides I literally installed Beta 2.0, then uninstalled. The game did not have much going for it in my eyes.
I dont think it was the performance (that can always be fixed) but it was just the core game design. It had absolutely nothing new to the game besides the promise of one server and live content like monster and npc spawns controlled by GM's. Plus the graphics are about equal to DAOC when DAOC first started(daoc graphics are better then Wish is with the new daoc gfx update).
And the developers looked more like Lord of the Rings junkies anyways. They actually looked like hobbits, elfs. Maybe they are working on a new LOTR game.
No wait maybe they look like Harry Potter characters.

What so many people fail to get through their thick, yet amazingly narrow, skulls is that Wish wasn't designed to be for everyone. It was going to end up a niche game. hence, it wasn't designed to make butt-loads of money off willing fanboys playing because of simplistic name recognition.
Don't get me wrong, I tried the beta and wasn't impressed. I have/had my own reasons for not liking it. I will say its a shame Mutable Realms is cancelling and I agree with above statements that maybe it would be cool to have it return in a fashion similar to Rubies. . . Especially when you consider all the time and effort the devs put into the game (regardless of what you thought of it)
Sure the market is inundated with games. But any idiot thinking the only reason to make a game is for money. . . Talk to SOE or Blizzard about making games purely for money.

I think they were checking the MMORPG.com forums. Everyone here's been pretty hard on the game. Not to mention the fact that they REQUIRE WinXP, which some of us refuse to use for now, as it's still too buggy. Not to mention the most unsecure piece of garbage out there.
I agree. It's not just opinions, it is a f-a-c-t Windows XP is pure garbage, junk, and waste. Tooo many new computer buyers do NOT know that they can tell the salesperson to NOT install Win XP. That they can say they do NOT want Win Xp in their new computer. Windows 98 is still the 2nd best operating system ever made. Linux is still the best, but unfortunatly is a victim of wimpy marketing on their side, and shady, aggressive, marketing on Bill Gate's side.
SOE makes decent games that appeal to nerds. Their customer service is run by jocks who bully nerds. Wonder why SOE sucks so bad...
Varant makes NICE games. Play EQ with the intention of xploooooring every inch of every zone. It is still at present time, how much detail they put into it. I don't mean how many pixels per millimeter. I mean off the wall stuff. Like the mutilated Dwarf bodies in the Ogre home city zone. The Dwarf torso's hanging upside down over campfires, with a chain hooked deep inside the open part of the torso (the legs are gone, eaten by the Ogres.) The eyeballs are bloated, etc...
And the Tree Elf city, OMG! The only thing that comes close is the capital city in Anarchy Online. Not even the biggest city in SWG can rival the Tree Elf City in EQ.
Varant, like every single red-blooded American company (including Harley-Davidson), then decided it would be NICE if a foreign company owned a successfull American product. And sold out to SONY.
The SOE cust service is not run by "bullies" or "jocks". (what do you call a nerd who is also a jock, eh? Eh? LOL!!!). Their cust service is simply run by inept people. But as someone once pointed out on another gamer forum, back in the "old days" there was nocustomer service at all! You got a game, you played it, if it crashed, had bugs, or was too hard, or you got stuck for whatever reason, you rolled with it. You grin and beared it. And from that era, from the olden days of gaming, there still were super successful games, super popular games - all having zero customer service because it didn't exist.
(All I'm saying is... hmmm... cust service IS a nice thing. But people once played computer games expecting zero cust service because it once never existed. If they were able to have fun without it back then, then it should still be possible to have fun without it right now. )
(I only had to use it twice - once in EQ, it took 1 hour for a GM to show up with her uber character and pull me out of the game world. My character sank into the center of the planet LOL. I took screenshots of it, but the comp I used got messed up later. And once in AO, the exit to a dungeon vanished. It took 30 mins for an "Advisor of Rubi-ka" to appear. He had to get another advisor after he got trapped with me LOL. They both finally got me, and them, out.)
The fact that game companies have it as policy to NOT discuss in public whatever issues, or cases, they have with players + the fact that no one except the player and the company knows the real true story = the rest of us do not know which cust service horror stories are real, half true, or 78%, 89%, 91%, or 100% true.
This game was closer to release more than are other game months away after release (just quick example: eq2).
It was canceled because MR had problems, not because game itself.
In 2 (two) hours there are 300+ players who said they want to pay a montly tax to play the current version. 300 its not much, but its more than "noone", and its only in 2 hours.

I played EQ2, i played Lineage2, i played Wish beta. And Wish was in beta 2.0 more complete than Lineage2 was at its release, and more complete than its EQ2 now. Remember, I work at a gaming site and I get retail games for free, I play them all Too bad I have to pay the montly fee myself
PS: i bet that 90% of people that say Wish sux didn't even played it.
If you work at a gaming site, I'm surprised that you didn't get my point up to now.

I played it.
And it sucked.
Lineage II sucked and so does EQ2. So comparing the game to them is just comparing a bunch of sucky games.
Compare Wish to EQ1, DaOC, AC1, UO, Guildwars. Once you do that.. you will see why they canceled it.

Another example: Lineage2, it took 8 months after release to be almoust completed.
Killer: 80%
Achiever: 60%
Explorer: 33%
Socializer: 26%
If you work at a gaming site, I'm surprised that you didn't get my point up to now.
We shouldn't be comparing games between each other (quality-wise, I mean).
I'm not defending EQ 2, I'm just asking to stop flaming it
That gaming site of yours, let me guess, it must be www.weloveblizzard.com

Basil Fawlty: [to telephone operator] I've been trying to get through to the speaking clock... Well, it's engaged... Well, it's been engaged for ten minutes. How is this possible? My wife isn't talking to it.

I played it.
And it sucked.
Lineage II sucked and so does EQ2. So comparing the game to them is just comparing a bunch of sucky games.
Compare Wish to EQ1, DaOC, AC1, UO, Guildwars. Once you do that.. you will see why they canceled it.
Cause those games make money

Well, lets see. First off, that's my sig, not part of the MESSAGE moron. How many times do I have to say this to you thread nazis? Second, it's an analogy. Understand what that is? Look it up if you don't. Also, VErant sold out because they were already a second party dev for SONY. Getting absorbed was a matter of time. If you're going to flame over a friggen sig, you need to get a life. Go outside. See things other than your computer monitor. There's life beyond high school :P
SOE makes decent games that appeal to nerds. Their customer service is run by jocks who bully nerds. Wonder why SOE sucks so bad...

You thought it sucked, that's something way different.
What makes your opinion so much better than that of thousands of players enjoying these games you mention?
I'm sorry, but you sound a little to stuck-up, tbh

I said they sucked. not made money.. and then made a seperate point that wish can't be compared with them cause they MAKE money.
Look at the top 10 list on MMORPG..
Wish can't stand with them.
