Hmm So Ncsoft sell gold, players buy gold, Ncsoft bans players for buying gold?
Ok?
they should make an AD
hello Aion players want that new armor set come buy gold from us cheap and when you do we can ban your account come its a win win we get money and you get nothing yeahhh, Get it NOWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
This mistake on Blizzards OWN website was done deliberatley by the staff in question to show THEIR own Gold selling website
Blizzard has responded officially to the matter, stating: "Recently, there was a temporary error with our forum advertisements that caused a gold-selling ad to be displayed. At this time, we have resolved this error. Our stance... remains firmly against the buying or selling of gold, and we may take action against accounts that are involved in these activities."
Hangon a mo, this is BLIZZARDS own Website, only people with ACCESS to this site would get permission to the server to change/modify websites.
Other information regarding this is available but due to Legal issues i am sure not posting these here on mmorpgs website.
Our guild has long left BLizzards mmo cash cow behind, silently waiting ressurection in TOR. now a lot of you will keep posting for proof regarding NCsoft.
The proofs their EVERY TIME you log into game, how many Gold farmers you block today?
Tomorrow? thursday? Friday? Next week? Ncsofts own stance, publicly is "we deplore gold selling and it be bannable" Yeah right...
You obviously don't know how advertising on websites work, but good try.
Heres my reasons, 1) Blizzard themselves make thousands every month selling gold on Their websites, 2) Ncsoft in NA / EU have done NOTHING to stop gold sellers. 3) Try asking NCSOFT have they banned anyone? Come on really? Think, every development company out there that makes mmos can easily kill Gold selling, one, NO currency. Buy stuff with rep points. Let me see one shread of evidence that ncsoft are not behind these spammers! Try getting in game support to ban them. Cough cough, really think Ncsoft would? So far on Kharun (new server) i have 50+ names now on ban, its a joke this. Why not just put adverts in your game instead!
Stop drinking the drugged Kool-Aid and you won't be so paranoid ok.
Ok, the OP is coming out of left field and is being somewhat trollish, but one fact does remain: The spammers and the bots are still there. Sure, a minute of blocking kills the spam, and changing channels can allow me to evade the "grindbots", but the fact is I really shouldn't have to do this. If it gets to the point my enjoyment is seriously impacted, NCsoft will lose my sub. I don't think I am alone here. Also, this whole bot and spam issue is becoming the benchmark on how we western gamers view NCdoft's comitment to us as paying customers and the level of service they are going to provide us. If they fail here, it may very well tarnish their image, so it behooves them to fix this and quick. Frankly, if they don't kill the spam (at the very least) and reign in the bots, many players will simply declare that NCsoft does not care for them as customers and we will go elsewhere. That's why the issue is so important.
Very true. The fact remains that the OP is accusing not just NCsoft, but also Blizzard being apart of some huge RMT scandal.
I really hope they do fix this. NCwest is the one controling this end of Aion and they don't have a HUGE staff ATM. This is because of NCsoft not putting a huge market into the western end of their gaming. Don't forget they have whatever is left of CoH/CoV and Lineage/Lineage 2. Before anyone brings up GW is still big, which it is, but NCwest doesn't control or deal with those servers. Arenanet does, which I think in one way or another they are incorporated into NCwest/NCsoft, but they are still a stand alone company.
This is off the top of my head, but I've been reading up about game companies for a while now for school.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I am not buying into the Op's assertions, just pointing out that the problem is still there, whatever the cause.
You bring up interesting points about the other NCsoft titles, but the part where you say, "This is because NCsoft not putting a huge market into the western end of their gaming." is key.
This right here, gives the impression that us western players are somehow worth less than asian customers and are subject to substandard service. This his been one of my main beefs with Asian games. If they treat me like a dirty stepchild, why should I buy their future products?
You have a point about why you should give them your money. The main thing is that they thought the west wouldn't like the game that much, but because it got so big so quick that they're hiring more people now. Not much, but that's because they don't want to over hire people and find a drop in activity to just fire those people.
A few basic remarks OP. 1. The gold sellers these days is an industry on its own, it simply is a multi million (if not billion) dollar industry. 2. The gold sellers have had a hard time in Wow since 2008, because of the introduction of daily quests and the easy gathering of money in that game's end levels. You already have to offer 10.000 ingame gold to still attract cheaters to buy something. 3. So even more than the global industry and the industry watchers (mmorpg.com and its players), the gold maffia was in desperate search for a new massively played game to sell their gold in. 4. Enter NCsoft, the Korean "let it be" attitude against botters and gold sellers, and you have a very clear and obvious roll out of the problem. 5. Gold sellers even use "tracking" played systems like Xfire to promote the game. The ratio on Xfire with all other mmorpg's simply shows the game is being played in the west by more than 1.2 M players. Impossible in view of the servers and sales (after 2 weeks launch). The fact is .... the gold maffia is all over this game (even in tracking sites). 6. The question remains: can and will NCSoft do something about it. I think the answer is "only halfhearted": they profit also from the promotion the game gets from the gold sellers, but at the same time they realise it COULD harm the game. So I guess for NCSoft they handle it but not with the very first priority, beause they want to be the "second most played game" title more than battling the gold accounts.
More wow is great and everything else sucks from zorndorf, you are nothing but a shill.
Zorndorf playing the conspiracy card to try to justify the Aion numbers on Xfire? The only fact we know is that Aion had close to 400k PREORDERS, anything beyond that is speculation. The claims in this thread are so funny.
Easy to counter: EVE has a confirmed 300 K subscription base.
According to present day XFire: there are 3.5 MORE Aion players than EVE players. The same ratio we can see with such established other games as wow and lotro.
While the ratios fit between other mmo's and not with Aion it is clear that Xfire has an error sampling rate of over more than 100% vs other games.
.Oh btw: servers numbers in Korea were 41/43 servers for 400K players and 113 Chinese servers for 1M players. In combined NA/EU they have ... 32 servers. Which clearly shows the lack of servers to support the numbers Xfire shows.
Only the gold sellers promoting the game by logging in through Xfire could be a reasonable explantion. 5K Xfire players would suffice to have the error rate shown.
Seriously did Aion steal your girlfriend or something, get over it man. if wow is so much better like you claim it is, why are you even wasting your time talking about Aion.

Dude, do you even read the articles you are linking? And do you know how web-based advertising even WORKS? No? Too bad. I DO.
And what happens when SW:TOR goes live? Are you and your guild gonna leave there because of "Bioware-backed credit sellers?" What about Fallen Earth? Or FF14? Or DUST 514? The Secret World?
This is not proof that Blizzard advocates selling gold. This is proof of the exact opposite. You fail. Consider yourself blocked and reported for slander.
Looking at this from a real world perspective would be like someone in a dark corner of an arcade/amusement center selling tickets for real money. "Psst, over here kid.. Looks like you're in need of some more tickets for that [use your imagination - item] I got a whole roll here, but it's gonna cost ya............[use your imagination for what the seller might ask for in return maybe money maybe something different]" If you are imagining something bad well then you shouldn't be playing mmorpg's you pervert.
Just need to find the real owner of IGe or the company that own IGe and see how much NcSoft he owns .
Sorry to break the news to you, but, Janis Joplin didn't write that song. Cris Kristopherson did......
In all seriosness though, how hard and or expensive could it be for NCSoft to have someone monitoring the chat channels and banning Gold Spammers? I mean, what $10/hr? for someone to sit there and read the chat channels?
By doing nothing, nothing very effective anyway, they are condoning Gold Spammers. In that sence, NCSoft IS, YES NC SOFT IS, behind the gold sellers. Thier lack of effectively dealing with it is promoting it.
Frankly, if they don't kill the spam (at the very least) and reign in the bots, many players will simply declare that NCsoft does not care for them as customers and we will go elsewhere. That's why the issue is so important.
Some of us who dealt with this same crap through 5+ years of Lineage 2 and even longer in Lineage 1 already have declared, as fact, that NCSoft doesn't care about their customers.
It's to the point in Lineage 2 that it's a joke. People openly talk about botting, about having adena-farming bot trains. They'll come out on their main character - not an alt - to deal with people who kill their bot trains. RMT companies have had a strangle-hold on the game's economy for years now, and conduct their business right out in the open.... almost as if they're *daring* NCSoft to ban them. They do this right under NCSoft's nose, who in turn do nothing about it but say "oh, of course we care about it... no really! We do!"
NCSoft is a J-O-K-E when it comes to dealing with RMT and/or botting. Anyone who's followed their games will know this. Sad that so many who are still defending them with Aion will have to learn it the hard way.
NCSoft does not care about botting/RMT. They'll talk a lot about what they are doing, have done or plan to do but will, in reality, do very, very little. They have a well-deserved reputation of being a paper tiger when it comes to dealing with that crap.
The fans can flame me all they want, tell me I'm wrong and defend NC to the bitter end... I'm speaking from years of first-hand experience in their MMOs.

At last someone else without blinkers on their eyes.....
Im sure a year for now people that enjoy playing Aion that are on these forums defending Ncsofts stance and lack of action in game regarding this spam might actually learn something 1 year from today!
So what i am going to do is take a note of every NCsoft defender on this thread that has challenged my claims rather than READING and opening their eyes to the issue. Lets see if in 1 years time, 15 / 10 / 2010 if SPAM continoues for the next whole year without being addressed at what point do these fanboiz actually see the problem IS the developers lack of action.
So heres the challenge.
In one years time, (should be enough time to root out ALL botters / farmers yes?) Aion should be Gold spam free....
After all NCSOFT are not behind / condoning this act.
Lets sit over here and see. Me for instance tried this game, this game is FUN, just a pity its ruined by having to block numerous names every single day. And im a fat bastard if im going to pay a company to SPAM my Chat chanel.
