Originally posted by Arislan And again why games like this SUCK for some players = ->LEVELING!<-Most of the games in MMO-market are crap, beacause you need to level. And leveling is the most boring experience in games i made.Hence level is equal graduation. In real life or better said the human natural way... You are NOT making experience to get for example 50 graduations! You NEVER get your skill higher AFTER getting a graduation!!! (leveling games) Or do you first become a Dr. then you start study medicine? In real life you are making experience to get for example 1 graduation for your skill! That means FIRST you prove/improve your skill THEN you will get your graduation!!! (skill based games) You first study medicine then you become a Dr. And this is what makes our life more exiting and challenge!IMO level games are for "simple" players who like things to be done easy..... those players havent any high demands! Why WoW is players favorite: Beside of any other features is the Mainpoint, that WoW has a huge community, because Blizzard is a very famous and traditional company. So they built up their fans by time. And now they did a good balanced game with nice visual effects (like others trying or doing)..... which more than 100000 of players most of them FANS are following. FANS almost eat anything and for cheese fans is cheese tasting more than just a cheese! (simple human nature)Why so many are following?: all the other players "nonfans" are always like this, if yuo dont know what to do or play... just follow the mass! Simply cause they havent enough experience in other MMOs and if yes then they played two crappy games and say : "all other games are bullshit" - stereotyping and prejudice. (simple human nature)What makes me different: I played nearly all MMOs which are in Market for several weeks/month/years... even games like Fairyland.... okey perhaps not all got the money to do so. But I have now good imagination of a good MMO and now I know what type of game I like and what type not. Unfortunately WoW is a game which is NOT equal my demands! Why? because I dont want to level! (my own nature)So if you like level games and you are sure the other way wont be more fun then go on and good luck. I think at this state WoW will be one of the best choices! My simple comment.

Thats why they rock, only 10% of people that listen to music accualy like music, as apposed to the other 90% that just like whatever the cool kids like. Same goes for everything, not just music.
So wait, are you saying that good mmorpg's have less people?
No he's saying that he thinks the only way to feel like you're an individual is to disagree with the majority.
FFS if you want to know what i ment, read my post, im not hinting at some secret meaning here, its simple, 10% of people like whatever they like, and the other 90% like ***ONLY*** what the majority likes.

I find WoW fun it appeals to me in that it doesn't consume my life, I play it to actually have fun, and its a very fast paced MMORPG just what Im looking for. I think the relationship is some people want huge in depth games that they can play for months and still have a challenge for them. (which is quite sad to me) I just can't handle it, I think the concept is cool but I don't have that kind of time, I only have time for one life, and this fantasy world isn't getting me no where. Yes they do sort of. They buy games on hype. The true test of WoW will be in about 6 months or so when most people's subscriptions have come nad gone... see how full the servers are then. How many are still playing. Most people would have bought the game, orgasmed on the box and immediately signed up for a 6 month subscription or so. Once those all run out, we'll see how many people stick with the game.

I think its stupid arguing about a game, its just a game after all. And i agree nowadays hype is not much to go by people know what has happened in the past, they know what to expect. most people know are prepared to read reviews or ask more than just one person there opinion on it. Personnaly i like WoW and might get MxO as well, but im willing to wait until both games settle down.
I think majority shit is stupid and most people in the 21st centuary can make there own decision. People like things cas they are good not cas there friend does. And the majority that cant make there own fucking decions are under 10.

Britney Spears NSync 98 Degrees Backstreet Boys
Nuff said.
Sadly, millions of ppl like this kind of music. They don't just "follow the flock", they actually do like it, most of them.
So you're argument doesn't hold. WoW is a good game, get over it. If MxO get as polished as WoW is, it sure is gonna be good. Until launch, that is still "if".
I didnt beleive the Hype for WoW or Eq2 so i stuck with lineage 2 BUT the 2 games thati think will live up to the hype are DnL and Mourning so when i quit i will go to one of those games and you should too
People don't like that music, they like all the hype with it. They talk about how cute or hot the artists are or what they did and this and that. The music is second to the artist with the people who like Spears. She doesnt' do anything noteworthy, she lip-synchs her performances, its mostly a dance routine. Her voice isnt anything to speak of, neither are her lyrics. It's all the hype and the 'hotness' and the exposure they appreciate about her. If anything its like some sort of subconscious envy :P

I will not follow your advice becuase: 1 any person playing lineage2 has different taste then me so its unlikely that i will enjoy games they enjoy 2 im 2 months into WoW and im not even slightly bored. further more, im having trouble making alts becuase my main is so much fun to play (this is the reason i had 6 playable classes in EQ and eventualy i got tired of it, i couldnt concentrate on 1 char, i got bored too fast). 3 I have no desire to waste money at the moment. Why buy another can of beer when u already have one and you enjoy it?

Again, just your opinion, not a fact. Don't be so sure the hype is the ONLY thing making it sells. If Spears and her "big hype machine" tried to push a very poor song, it wouldn't sell very well. It must please the mainstream market in order to really succeed.
At any rate, I haven't seen Blizzard hyping their game so much as some other companies. You pointed us to an article explaining how MxO would just revolution how dynamic the MMO storyline could be in this type of game. You seem to buy this hype (yes, it is hype). Yet, nobody flames you for that. You have the right to get excited, if you believe it will fulfill your needs.
I remember EQ2 getting hyped by SOE a lot too. I had high expectations about it, but they never fulfilled their commitments (they said you could solo to level 50, for example). And I found their design to be very bland, and not as fun as EQ1 (a regression, which aint good, heh?).
WoW is not hyped, it is praised. That's very different.

I still say, If you like it, play it. If you don't then stop. Its simple really. Everyone is going to like different things. I will never understand why ppl will flame something like games, or music for that matter. Its all up to the person. As long as ppl have the right to make their own decisions there will be ppl that disagree.
Now remember to always put off till tomorrow what you can do today... Oh wait a minute that didn't come out right!

Um WoW omgwtfpwns every other MMORPG out there right now for one simple reason.
It's actually FUN.
Technology is not an end unto itself, there has to be a PURPOSE for it. Yes you can make planes that do 15 G's, but the pilot wouldn't survive. Yes, you can digitize music to better than CD quality, but we dont have bat ears, we have HUMAN ears, our biology would not be able to perceive the imrpovements.
TV was good enough for 5 generations, why is the high-definition TV craze not catching on? Because resolution is limited by our eyesight. Yes, you can squeeze more pixels on a screen, but it causes eyestrain and eventually you would need glasses to perceive the better picture, and you would need stronger prescription glasses every year.
So you see, technology is great but it is limited by our bodies which are flesh and blood.
The most challenging and epic MMORPG ever made is real life, yet none of us play it. So no, I do not buy the argument that ppl who play EQ2 want a "challenge." If you wanted a challenge, you would be out living the life you dream of, instead of sitting in your parents' basement playing it.
And as far as Brittney Spears goes, the fact that her target audience consist of pre-pubescent teens does not dilute the fact that she is a multi-talented and hard working individual who deserves her fame and riches. I'd like to see any of YOU get up on stage and look good for 3 hours while dancing and singing and wearing 8 different outfits.

mmhmm, Britany Spears sure has talent. 1) She doesnt write her songs 2) She can't sing at all 3) She is a a slut who influences 12 year olds to wear slutty cllothing which makes my eyes bleed when i see them. 4) How much you want to bet she lip-synchs? 5) Hard working individual? ...lol

I think you need glasses then because theres a huge difference. Also lookign at a high-def image wouldnt cause eye strain, but a poor refresh rate will. Lastly, high-def TVs "aren't catching on" because there arent enough providers to warrant buying one. The only difference youll get is when watching DVDs if you have a good DVD player. So you see, technology is great but it is limited by our bodies which are flesh and blood. The most challenging and epic MMORPG ever made is real life, yet none of us play it. If youre enjoying the game so much you'd feel no need to justify it. GG.
Ok i've met people like you. Your usually into things like indie rock, old school punk music, etc. When anyone makes it big, this means they suck. Lets took a look at some key differences between pop music and pop games.
Generally probably 90% of the people who listen to Britney or whoever else have no music training. This is not intended to insult anyone who does listen to this type of music. If they had a little music background, they probably would not enjoy this type of music as it requires no skill at all.
The problem with your comparison is, most people who play MMORPGs, have experience with gaming. Chances are for most of the population, this is not their first time playing a video game. Therefore they are in a position to judge if the game is well put togather or not. The decision of what makes a good video game is left up to each individual.
When it comes to WoW being ranked best game with numerous awards, its coming from mostly people who have alot of experience playing games. When you hear that britney won most albums sold this year, its coming generally from people with no music background.
Point being, you cant' compare the two. One is judged by people with experience. The other is not.
While I agree mostly with you mike, I have to say that there are alot of bands, particularly during the first years of punk, who werent really "skilled" at playing but there music is considered by many to be excellent nonetheless. But this thread really isn't about music anyways so it doesn't really matter. I do get what you're trying to say though. Sorry for the off-topic rant.

I'm not a MMO Gamer meaning, I can go either way im not attached to the genre. After SWG I had absolutely no plans to play MMOs again. I didn't think they would change soon enough, but now theres MXO, so thats where my interest lies. Why am I even explaining myself? If you can't comprehend what I've said thus far than my words are wasted on you. Blech.
*Shoots himself in the face* No comment.
I'm not a MMO Gamer meaning, I can go either way im not attached to the genre. After SWG I had absolutely no plans to play MMOs again. I didn't think they would change soon enough, but now theres MXO, so thats where my interest lies. And if you had been reading my posts you'd know that I've worked on over 20 fantasy MUDs, and designed 70 areas for those games. I love Forgotten Realms of D&D lore and I am a big Drow fan. I used to be able to speak a bit of Drow and used it quite often in my RP. So don't pigeonhole me into not liking fantasy because I appreciate Sci Fi as well. Thats a real cop out to ignore everything else I've said in the post. Technology is a big part of these games, they are a visual medium. And for them to have longetiviity they need to be technologically progressive. I never said they mean great games, but if games like these succeed, no ones going to want to take the chance to push the envelope and develop a great game with the latest technology, because they can play it safe and make a good buck. And even if they do want to, you'll have hesitant publishers not supporting such development teams because they can see from the success of WoW there are many ways to turn a dollar on these things. I'm surprised I wrote all that and you couldn't garner that the first time, I had to say it twice.

Most people would have bought the game, orgasmed on the box and immediately signed up for a 6 month subscription or so.
Once those all run out, we'll see how many people stick with the game.

Sadly yes. You know tt's a sad world we live in when Zepplin can't get a number one but the Dixie Chicks are still making albums.
I am not a huge zepelin fan but the dixie chicks just suck, ugh.

Correct
I think its stupid arguing about a game, its just a game after all. And i agree nowadays hype is not much to go by people know what has happened in the past, they know what to expect. most people know are prepared to read reviews or ask more than just one person there opinion on it. Personnaly i like WoW and might get MxO as well, but im willing to wait until both games settle down.
I think majority shit is stupid and most people in the 21st centuary can make there own decision. People like things cas they are good not cas there friend does. And the majority that cant make there own fucking decions are under 10.

I didnt beleive the Hype for WoW or Eq2 so i stuck with lineage 2 BUT the 2 games thati think will live up to the hype are DnL and Mourning so when i quit i will go to one of those games and you should too
or be bored !!
True just cas you dont like somthing doesnt mean that other people cnt like them.
But in my opinion your right they do suck.
I will not follow your advice becuase:
1 any person playing lineage2 has different taste then me so its unlikely that i will enjoy games they enjoy
2 im 2 months into WoW and im not even slightly bored. further more, im having trouble making alts becuase my main is so much fun to play (this is the reason i had 6 playable classes in EQ and eventualy i got tired of it, i couldnt concentrate on 1 char, i got bored too fast).
3 I have no desire to waste money at the moment. Why buy another can of beer when u already have one and you enjoy it?
Peace

Because eventually that can of beer is going to be empty.

You'll never see ME up there.
mmhmm, Britany Spears sure has talent.
1) She doesnt write her songs
2) She can't sing at all
3) She is a a slut who influences 12 year olds to wear slutty cllothing which makes my eyes bleed when i see them.
4) How much you want to bet she lip-synchs?
5) Hard working individual? ...lol
