Wow never seen legions of botters lol that would make gm's work so easy if they ban some of them. On spatolos I see some but never seen botters with legions. Ps I'm in no way defending the game but you can never be 100% sure (apart of the random named players ofc) that it is a bot I saw people playing in english servers that don't know english funny eh? but still there are people like this dunno why tough. There are people that hate questing so they grind on mobs, will you call them bots? I don't think you go to talk to them to see if they are bots (excluding random named "players") imo grinding provides loads of gold, can drop you green/white/other color gear that nets lots of kinah and sometimes greater exp so there is some "profit" if you prefer to grind than questing.
You're right, you can never tell but in my experience most legit players use titles because of the stat bonuses. On the other had, besides having gibberish names, bots almost never use titles.
Oh and if I'm confused about whether I'm looking at a player or a bot, I try to talk to them to make sure. Don't want to report a legit player who's just grinding.
And there's games without bots? Which one? Name a single game without bots, just one with population over 100k, and heck, even below that. If you think there aren't any bots in EVERY MMO on the planet, then you are incredibly naive.
Every MMO has bots. There is only one MMO, that I am aware of (besides the F2P ones) that has more bots than Aion. That MMO is Lineage II.
This is not a matter of an MMO having bots. It's a matter of an MMO having bots and not doing anything about it.
That is absolutely ludicrous? You really actually believe that? Seriously? WoW, and that does have a double meaning... just WoW... lol
EDIT: I would NEVER defend the botting in Aion or any game, and it is an absolute shame. The gold/kinah BUYERS are to blame obviously as they produce demand. But to actually say, and believe what you wrote is naive in the extreme.
I have had the unfortunate experience of playing every major MMO since EQ. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that AION has more bots than I've ever seen.
I counted a bot train in Mordheim this weekend of 50 deep. That's 50 bots running the same path just outside of the fortress in the PvE area.
The problem is twofold :
1. NCSoft isn't banning any of these accounts. The botters have even gone so far to create "Bot Legions." They don't even care. Why should they, apparently NCSoft doesn't care either.
2. Grind. The game is a grinder, and it a game such as this is going to promote the path of least resistance. Grind without being in front of the PC is the least resistance possible.
The bottom line is, until NCSoft gets GMs that give a damn or are even present, this is going to continue, to the peril of AION.
Botting is pretty awful, I agree. People piss and moan either way, though. NCSoft does a mass banning and everyone's up in arms because some legit players got swept out with the bad ones. I agree I'd be pretty pissed if my account got tagged when I'm so totally opposed to gold selling, so I see where those people are coming from. Same thing with NCSoft and Game Guard. They use it, and disabled gamers complain because they can't macro. Just seems like NCSoft is between a rock and a hard place and they can't win.
Anyhow, despite the botting, I do like Aion. I found myself camping a spot for a 2 hour long killing spree, and the time just flew by. I never knew I could have so much fun camping. Haven't really done that since my EQ days. I get tired of running around for quests. Sometimes you want to just stay in one area and kill stuff until you don't want to kill stuff anymore.
I run 8 legions on one server... thats a lot of characters.
There are new players joining all the time and of course we are starting to wave good bye to those that were never going to make it in the first place.
Things are progressing nicely but ofc it is still early days.
Join Aion with a bit of maturity a relaxed attitude and an acceptance that its preodominatly all about getting to a high enough level for the community to see you as serious.

I don't think "mature" and "Aion community" belong in the same paragraph.
In all honesty, the community is one of the most vilest I have seen in an MMO to date. Not that there aren't some decent folks in it but the majority seems to be 4chan rejects.
Nezekan is owned by Asmodians. All our best Elyos legions are gone (along with the players). On the Elyos side bots equal the number of players. The game is so poorly run that I am cancelling my sub. I will not give money to people such as NCSoft ever again.
How is it it so poorly run ?
On preselect I was able to log in 15 minutes after the published launch time and reserve my character names.
The same happened on headstart launch (yes I weas in the game and levellign within 15 minutes of the published opening)
I havent had one game crash at all (yes including large scale pvp)
I dont know why so many people seem to think they need a GM or technical support on hand to wipe theur ass forthem 24/7, but i have needed neither.
I have answered several in game surveys and the issues they concerend were actioned very quickly all things considered.
I think the people compalaining about bots are far too focused on what other people are doing and not enough on themselves and what they can do. Complaining bots steal your quest mobs or screw the economy are just nonsensical at this point in the games history. It is a long way to level 50 and most players that achieve in mmorpgs simply dont use lame excuses like a bot stole my quest mob or have hissy fits when they see them ..they are largely irrelevant and a mild inconvenience at worst.
Aion is polished and full of content whether you like pve or pvp - again at this point in the games history, only those lacking in imagination, ability or simply dont understant Aions positioning visa v thepve/pvp balance, would say otherwise imo
Complaining about legions at this time belies immense stupidity. Less than 5% of the player base is at end game and we are only just getting a feel for who is subscribing to the game after the first month. There is plenty of opportunity for good leaders to create new legions and for players of all persuasions to participate in creating successful teams. Existing legions have plenty to do and achieve and their work has only just begun.
In no way shape or form could a reasonable person describe this as a badly run or under developed mmorpg.
Every night at primetime all servers reach that "full" orange text. This doomsday thing is really getting old. No matter how much made up crap is posted nothing will change the fact that Aion is a great game. It's only evident in posts such as "25-30 is such a grind" when a single run of NTC provides 75% of a level in 40 minutes. Comments such as "You can't PvP until 40+" make me laugh. By level 27 I had over 200 kills in the Abyss just from ganking with one other person, a Gladiator--myself a Ranger. The whole "It's an eastern game, we westerners don't like it" has to be the stupidest crap i've ever read. People over in Asia are humans too--if a game is grindy and dry, they wont like it either. I tire of the "L2 failed in the west which proves Aion will too" thing is equally stupid. L2 failed in the west because it failed in the east. Aion is doing great in the west because it is doing great in the east. Aion conintues to be successful in Korea--so even if the whole "aion has to die because it didnt kill wow" theory proves correct, anyone who enjoys this game can play on their extremly populated servers.
I guess it depends on what you call successful.
Considering the original queues of THOUSANDS of people, I'd say that a full server with no queues means jack shit.
Secondly Aion has nothing to keep people playing at the high end. It's been proven over and over that this is where the rubber hits the road.
Lastly the game will do well, since it's reasonably well designed at the lower levels, but overall it's another WoW clone done poorly in the long term and lacking the overall depth of WoW.
It will have subs but it's going to dwindle more and more.
In no way shape or form could a reasonable person describle this as a badly run or under developed mmorpg.
Guess there are thousands of unreasonable people quitting Aion.
Quick question; does NCSoft pay by check for posts for these, or is it a direct-deposit mechanism? Are you paid by post, or get a flat rate?
They are most likely immature people if they are genuinely quitting because they think the game is badly run. To assume that someone who has not subscribed agrees withthe posters comments I quoted is ....dumb ..nevermind unreasonable..
Most Mature players understand thaat mmorgs are at the forefront of gaming technologies. We dont like it, but we expect technical difficulties, polish and content issues with all mmorpgs, let alone new launches.
Mature players are imo far more likely to quit over gameplay/design issues or a broken end game. Statistics show a tiny %Aion USA/EU of players have reached end game.
Every mmorpg sees a % of people not subscribe, to assume these people dont subscribe because they think the game uis badkly run is just naive speculation and unreasonable assumption unles you can back it up sceientifically.

And seriously...you run 8 legions? On one server? Yeah...
Well, being that you don't need anyone else to start a legion and being that you can have up to 8 characters total... All of my characters run legions too.

Can also look at it like what EQ did back in the day.
At launch they used to show server numbers so you knew how many people were on a given server at that specific time. Some servers were above 5k players at prime time, others were below 1200 players. Soon they switched to the whole 'Full, Medium, Low' tags (think around the time of AC's launch) and when that happened, servers that were known to be really low pop ended up showing a 'full' tag next to it. Basically server population messages that run on the whole 'Full, Medium, Low' tagging system mean nothing because you have no idea what they set the 'Full' threshold at. For all we know 'Full' means 1k+ players on the server when the server can hold a max of 5k.
Unless they show actual current population numbers instead of 'Full, Medium, Low' next to the server name, I wont trust it as a sign that the population is growing/holding.
Infact I think Auto Assult had full servers as well all the way upto the plug being pulled...
Wasnt that also an Ncsoft published title?
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

I played vanilla wow from day 1...I can tel lyou now there wasnt much in wows end game..even less if you were not in a guild doing 40 man raids all day long. Took a while for enough guilds to form so players had a choice. even then it took months before a pvp system was in place and any other new content added.
We haven't got enough players at end game to know if they will stay in numberss or not. People not subscribing who have level 50 characters istherefore, by default, a tiny % of those that are not subscribing. People who are not subscribing are therefore largely doing so for reasons that are nothing to do with Aions end game.
The mmorpg market is dynamic and changes somewhat after every large scale mmorpg launch. The player base is very different to what it was when WOW and the older mmogs launched. It is somewhat polarised now between a generation with little experience of mmorpgs other than WOWs TBC and Wolk, perhaps even less, and thosewith earlier or other mmorpg experience gained over years of play.
In may be your opinion that Aions subswill dwindle but that a business certainty so you are not really saying anything here. They question is what sub levels will Aion have months down the line and NCsoft dont know that never mind people posting on here that rage quitted the game because they cant hack a bit of leveling and some death penalties or were too damn lazy to read up about what Aion was designed to be before they bought the game.

I have been playing since release and am barely 24 and you think Im going to roll an Asmo just to see that you are some raging drama queen ? no thanks. Come to Lumiel, anyone who doesnt beleive me, and I will show you the bot problem isnt the issue you and others claim it to be.
Yea I said that. And it's true. You can dismiss the problem all you want by saying "But but WoW has bots too!" but the issue still stands. This isn't WoW. The bots in Aion are out of control. And no one is going to create a newb character on your server to show you that you're wrong, because we already know you're wrong.
So first you say there are hardly any bots, then you're shown pics of a bunch of them. Then you say you've never seen a bot legion (which is hilarious, btw..do you really even play this game?) And after being shown pics of them, you STILL say bots are not a problem.

That's beyond naive. Every major MMO that was heavily hyped since WoW went live has had a massive influx of people trying the game out. The hype draws them like flies. Similarly the greater majority has seen drops in those numbers soon afterward, for a myriad of reasons.
I can list quite a few:
1. They wanted to try the first 30 days because they don't want to invest/don't have the available cash beyond the box purchase.
2. They bulldozed ahead to be maxed out level-wise only to find they were pretty well alone, and quickly bored.
3. Bugs, crashes, PC hardware/driver issues, etc., drove them away.
4. The game didn't have the right 'look' or 'feel', so they quit.
5. Problems with getting into groups or finding the 'right' guild frustrated them early on.
6. Griefers and gank squads.
And I have no doubt there are plenty of other reasons out there - all personal and individual. You hopefully get the idea here. And as someone has already pointed out, you can't tell actual server numbers from 'recommended', regardless of what you may personally believe.
As for end game and Aion having 'nothing' to keep players around, what facts are you basing this on?
If at first you don't succeed, pay someone who will.

While this is mostly true, there was a bot guild in WoW too so...to try and single Aion out for a problem that all commercial MMOs have is pretty dumb.
I personally love the GAME itself as does the majority of my legion. We pit ourselves against the bots on a daily basis and make a valiant effort to make sure they are banned from the game.
The biggest problem I feel is the abundance of oceanic players using proxies to create accounts on North American and European servers which is where your bots come from more than anywhere else. They farm it, and we buy it. Simple as that.
Also, the problems with Time Warner and Comcast internet services causing massive pings and being part of the "hops" almost everyones isp's must go through to get to Dallas where the servers are is also prettty annoying.
But, I have a dream that one day, all the whiners will be gone. Botting will be pointless because only the loyal player base will be left and an influx of new players will emerge once the bugs are ironed out and Aion in all it's glory shines forth.

I really hate these comparisons to WoW. WoW had a bot guild? So what? At it's worst, the bot problem in WoW was nowhere as bad as the bot problem in Aion right now. Also, unlike NCSoft, Blizzard actually cares enough to actively combat the bots and the spammers. They took Peons4Hire and Glider to court.
Again, the problem is not the fact that there are bots or bot legions. The problem is that NCSoft does nothing about them.
I just gotta ask , have any of your people who complain about the over botted state of the game logged in the last week. Popular bot spots are turnin up ghost town. The bot arguement is starting to move in the same direction as the people who complain that the game is grind (as ease at it is to get xp doing anything at all it take no time to level). Just seems to be people hanging on their few arguements, whether they are being addressed or not.
The bots are still there. Although for some reason most are assassins now, instead of gladiators. Even saw a chanter the other day.
I think it's different, server to server. Some servers have more and some have less.
If people like you didnt buy gold there wouldnt be any bots. Think about ...
Aion has conquered all international gaming markets, jealous of a Korean success? I think you are. It must burn you inside that all the Aion servers are ful of activity and everyone is have fun.
The bottom line is all successful MMOs will have bots and gold sellers, these criiminals will always be ahead of any gaming company. NCsoft has killed off the gold spam and their banning bots on MY server. An Entire bot gold guild got banned last week thats action right their. They cant ban them all but their trying ... look at WoW its infested with RMT still after 5 years, dont dismiss this as fact.

You must have never played Lineage 2. You know, that other NC Soft game. The one that is Aion, minus the wings. Yeah, it was completely overrun with bots until everyone (for the most part) stopped paying attention to it. Problem is, NC Soft "tried" to take control of it, and never did.
Also, could you please define "conquered" because I'm pretty sure we're thinking of two different words...

I have fun in Aion, i play Aion. Bots and gold sellers are getting banned. If you cant except that then go troll another game you dont play. The reason these forums have gone down the toilet is because of people like you, your worse than the botters in a sense.

I dont care about Lineage, never played it.
I have fun in Aion, i play Aion. Bots and gold sellers are getting banned. If you cant except that then go troll another game you dont play. The reason these forums have gone down the toilet is because of people like you, your worse than the botters in a sense.
Lineage is the reason why Aion even exists, just because you don't care about it doesn't mean I'm trolling (though I probably am...) I was saying that from what I'm hearing from my friends who play Aion, it sounds like its being handled exactly how they handled L2, which means that while botting and spam may fluctuate from server to server and over time, unless NC Soft does something different this game will go down the same way L2 did. But I do agree with some on this forum. If Aion is so awesome then why do so many people have to come here and feel they have to defend it? Why not just play the game and let people have their own opinions?
"Well, I woke up this morning and I wasn't dead. I suppose that means it's a good day."

So I buy gold now? How did you get that out of my post?
As far as burning my insides, I play Aion, why would I want empty servers? You're not making any sense.

So you have never played Aion ... Obvious troll is well obvious. You can't even form an opinion on the game if you havn't played it. So im done replying to you, have a productive day trolling forums.
Aion is a great game for the first 30 or so levels. I got to 39 having fun the whole way. However, I got to a point where grinding mobs for hours on end wore me out.
I didn't enjoy competing with bots for a source of entertainment. The game has potential, and it's inital impression is great. If you don't mind bots, RMT spam, a grind fest of a game, or lack in end game content, Aion is perfect right now. It's got a good base but needs a lot of work.
I guess I will try and give a very objective opinion, will probably get flamed but here goes:
I have a rank 5 39 sin and I am in one of the top three legions on my server, my wife fell sick about a week ago so my grind came to a halt and also gave me some time to reflect why I am not eager to log back in.
1. My number one reason whether right or wrong is the damm bots and gold spammers, they are rampant in Heiron and Tbom, they roll on your mobs you are trying to kill without regard. I know some will say well group up and that won't be an issue, while that is true why should I have to rely on legion mates etc to just do some quests to combat the rampant bot issue.? The gold sellers just set up a Priv shop and spam all day long the same bots in the same spots and nothing is done. Again if people did not buy gold or whatever this would not be an issue but people do. Face it some people want the best gear so instead of earning it they go buy the gold. In all honesty maybe we should all face the facts that people buy gold and maybe just maybe these companies should just sell the fucking money to those that want to spend real money to accomplish being LEWT. That would in effect eliminate the botters and gold spammers for the most part..
2. Endgame I really have no clue what the endgame is at this point in time. Fortress in all actuality hold no meaning once they are captured besides lowering the tax rate. There is zero incentive right now to defend these forts. I know getting to the top ranking is what the personal endgame is but the PvP while it can be fun is sorta pointless. I miss the old DAOC catle and keep raids and least there was a meaning to holding and defending a keep you took. There are no high end raid zones so to speak for a Legion to pull togehter and do a few nights a week.
3. The grind while I wholeherartdly agree this is not nowhere near L2 or even old EQ grind, it is a fucking boring grind 36+, and yes I collected well over 300 molars. I can't drag myself to go back to KHQ, is is just to me a mindless grind. The alternatives are to go do some quests in Heiron but as I stated above that place is just full of bots making it difficult. Once you run LW, RW sulfer etc you are done for 17 hours till you can go again and even these only take with a good group 15-20 min for minor xp. So you are left yet again to grind somewhere some how. Aether labs is fun the first couple times but damm not after the 6th time. Something needs to be done about the lack of meaningful questiing high 30's and up.
4. Abyss PvP, I can't remember how many times I was wishing I rolled a ranger or another ranged class at some of the teleporter battles. I find myself 1/2 the time hanging by a templar waiting for him to pull someone in close, if I stray to far away I get yanked in and bang I am dead while ranged classes just sit back and let the AP roll in. I find it fustrating as a melee class with very little durability, I do dart in get a gank here or there but not as much as I would like. Open world PvP is meh you don't even get AP after killing the same toon a few times, and while killing bots is always fun the reason I PvP is for a challenge, bots are not a challenge.
5. Chat, LFG and general most of the time make barrens chat seem like Oxford Univeristy.
I am hoping that maybe playing my Templar alt will invigorate my desire to play but the thought of grinding KHQ, LC etc does not have me frothing at the bit to do again. The game is extremely polished for the most part as far as bugs and that sort of thing, while not a animie fan I do like the armor and weapon skins for the most part. I just find something lacking that does not have me eager to log, like EQ, PRE CU SWG, DAOC and even WoW had. That is my honest opinion I am not a troll nor fanboy just someone giving what I hope was an objective opinion.

Caveat Emptor
I don't think "mature" and "Aion community" belong in the same paragraph.
In all honesty, the community is one of the most vilest I have seen in an MMO to date. Not that there aren't some decent folks in it but the majority seems to be 4chan rejects.
Caveat Emptor
Guess there are thousands of unreasonable people quitting Aion.
Quick question; does NCSoft pay by check for posts like these, or is it a direct-deposit mechanism? Are you paid by post, or get a flat rate?
And seriously...you run 8 legions? On one server? Yeah...

1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
I guess it depends on what you call successful.

Caveat Emptor
Yea I said that. And it's true. You can dismiss the problem all you want by saying "But but WoW has bots too!" but the issue still stands. This isn't WoW. The bots in Aion are out of control. And no one is going to create a newb character on your server to show you that you're wrong, because we already know you're wrong.
So first you say there are hardly any bots, then you're shown pics of a bunch of them. Then you say you've never seen a bot legion (which is hilarious, btw..do you really even play this game?) And after being shown pics of them, you STILL say bots are not a problem.
Sorry to bring up this old subject but I was gone for a few days and missed all the other posts.

You'll see.

I was saying that from what I'm hearing from my friends who play Aion, it sounds like its being handled exactly how they handled L2, which means that while botting and spam may fluctuate from server to server and over time, unless NC Soft does something different this game will go down the same way L2 did. But I do agree with some on this forum. If Aion is so awesome then why do so many people have to come here and feel they have to defend it? Why not just play the game and let people have their own opinions?
"Well, I woke up this morning and I wasn't dead. I suppose that means it's a good day."
So I buy gold now? How did you get that out of my post?
As far as burning my insides, I play Aion, why would I want empty servers? You're not making any sense.

I dont care about Lineage, never played it.

So you have never played Aion ... Obvious troll is well obvious. You can't even form an opinion on the game if you havn't played it. So im done replying to you, have a productive day trolling forums.
GW2 the future of MMO gaming
