I would jump on the game now since you get to beta test. And at the incredible pace the game is progressing, you will get alot of time to play a great up and coming game for free until release. Thank me later.
Right now you have the following in game: - Player Housing
- Mounts and Mounted Combat
- Crafting
- A little more than half of the first continent
- A placeholder magic system
- Creature Taming
- Various skills All of these features have been listed under the patch notes which have been on the official site, available to the public, so I can't be breaking the NDA by listing them. There's a patch coming monday which is supposed to introduce a lot more of the skills, guilds, a war system and a lot more. Every patch (roughly 2 weeks apart) introduces a new system or two along with massive bug fixes/tweaks and generally new areas/content.
I'm confident that the game can release on time although I think a month or two delay would do it some good (isn't that always the case?). It needs a little more content to round things out but every patch adds a lot so in the next couple of months before release it could become a very different game. That's the trend it's followed so far. Rumor has it that the NDA will be lifted with the patch coming Monday.
Thats great if they have thoes feature. but are they any good is the real question.

No. This game needs 6 months of polish at least just to be playable.

I don't think 6 months of polish will do this game any good. The dev's are stuffing 10 lbs. of crap in a 5 lb bag.
Why are they working on taming, housing, guild stuff, and god knows what when the big three arent even finished ( combat, crafting, Mob AI ) ?
There is some very good leaks on youtube atm ( granted I don't care much for the commentary ) and this game just isn't ready for primetime.

Those leaks are crap just so you know... They are horrible examples of MO.
Those leaks are crap just so you know... They are horrible examples of MO.
I agree its a horrible example of MO ................ but those vids were not created as an example of MO. If those vids were created to be an example of MO I would surely hope that they would include at least the list that had appeared earlier in this thread.
Those vids were there to show the state that combat was in ( I believe a patch has been implented shortly after their posting ). It doesn't look pretty atm, and I haven't seen any vids that show enemy AI being acceptable. The patch notes have very clearly stated;
- crafting is currently a place holder
- magic is currently a place holder
- nonmagic combat is still being tweaked on the server end.
Those are very important things that need to 99% finished at release.
So basically it is still in early stages of Beta? Seems as though most of the features are still nowhere near completion from what some are saying.
Yes and no. Depends on why you are going to play the game. Some people, I would say most of the community actually, are playing it becuase the RP aspects are good even when everything else may be on par or less.

I have seen the -updates- on other sites, I still fail to see what exactly are those RP aspects. Granted there are things to do but nothing I would say is role-play...what owning a house?

Theres more to the RP in that game then simply the housing aspects but basically, since the game barrows a lot from UO and has a hard cap with everything, a lot of the people who like static hard to change roles and like to RP those rolls are going to enjoy the game. This can be anything from a crafter to an anti-pker to a mount tamer to a home designer.

That's because MO is horrible in its current state. The game is missing more than 50% of its features, and the features that *are* in are horrible. Scenery is pretty albeit lifeless & barren. It will be 6 months before this game is playable.

That is total bullshit tell me what is that horrible? If you say balance issues I will just laugh at you just because you can't seem to understand the fact that they ain't balancing it before all secondary skills are added and those will come in the next patch / quick patch as far as we know, and the game definitely ain't missing 50% of the features only features that miss are crafting and that will be in the next patch it has been confirmed. You seem to not understand that we are testing general functionality and that stage is over and they have been rolling us with patches 6 weeks ago and the final things are coming in these patches.

Come now - the current beta is still mainly placeholders. It is impossible to get a true feeling for the game because the game simply isn't there yet. Most of the beta testers are not playing even though the the game is 'free' for them to test, because of lack of content. There is practically no PvE content to speak of, for example.
That is not to say that the game is bad, per se. It is just no-where near an acceptable release quality, either in terms of bugs, balancing or content. If it were to release in its current state, it would instantly flop.
Ill say what I have been saying since july, wait until the game is released or atleast till the NDA is released till you make a determination on buying MO or not. You will get fanbois and trolls all over the place and I have debated with plenty on this forum. So anyone debating buying the game wait for 1 to 3 more months till the game is released than make you decision.
I have learned this online and real life, never make a decision on speculation. Which atm that is what every piece of information is that does not come directly from SV, or is backed by SV like patch notes.

Answering that would be to break the NDA.

End of the year.
A part of preordering the game is that you're guaranteed to be able to play at release.
If you're intent on buying when the game goes gold, it wouldn't hurt to preorder.
You don't have to participate in the beta.
