The poll is accurate and also people should realize very very few new players are signing on. It is almost impossible to get a temp and/or a cleric for the lvl 16 BC missions. One time I saw 2 templars on that are from lvl 16 to 20. Most of the low lvl toons are alts and most alts are rangers/sorcs cause people have realized these classes are the easiest to lvl solo and also OP re PVP. My original legion has disbanded as 99% have left. Aion is dying. Servers wil have to merge soon. The only ones left in the end will prolly be sorcs and rangers with Abyss gear.
My server is full of people and busy. Templar are defensive tanks (lol) and clerics defensive healer, its just like in any other mmorpg that most people tend to play offensive dps classes. And just like in any other mmorpg a lot of people stop playing after first, second month.
Youre playing on one of the later opened server?
Im playing Israphel. Lots of higher level people. I gave up leveling my low level alt. Concentrating on my lvl 40.
i just canceled my subscription i had 6-7 friends that all started to play now only 2 are left and they are thinking about quiting also. i do not think aion will last 2-3 years
Statistically, a lot of people here on MMORPG.COM are *not* playing an MMO they currently like. They come to these forums to look for new games, talk about old games they played, or find out information on games currently out. A large number of people who complain come to the forums while a large number of people play MMO's and never, ever, once, set foot in a forum. Because they're busy playing their games and having a good time.
I highly doubt that *half* of all people subscribed to Aion dropped their subscription in the first month, but it would be interesting to see actual numbers.
If you ever take a class on statistics or polling you'll begin to understand the dangers of open ended questions to narrow audiences...
Did a lvl 25 glad, lvl 20 spirit master,lvl 20 Cleric..
Game play is not that bad all in all but the grind, the boredom, the economy on most servers is a complete joke no wonder why the game had a bunch of Bots and credit sellers. No matter what NCsoft does they will be back until the loot drops become frequent.
I am not not gonna do either as in bot or buy credits but it seems as if that is what the economy wants you to do.
The player base at least the people i ran into are scum for the most part a ton of ninja killing and looting not many people seem to want to group to deal with these random elite mobs in some random quest. i am not much into forced grouping and elites are just stupid unless its one of the theme park things like the BC and others.
I know the story its an MMO so grouping is part of it.. and i will agree I play EVE online and belong to a rather large alliance and i join fleets up to 600 players and gangs with an average of 40 or so players for random roams. but i see no need to group for 2 minutes just to bash on a mob and as of late i seem to be getting stuck on low level theme parks like the BC when people are leaving game and the lack of new people joining leave's ya kinda screwed on off times.
Aion could have been great but i think the game will fail and die in about the same time it took Tabula Rasa to bite it..
The humor side of Aion is the fanbois who i think hate WoW more than I do. lol but even ill say this is no WoW killer. Back to My Sand Box cause really the only difference between Aion an WoW is that you dont get spoon fed as often but you are still getting spoon fed, a longer grind does not make the game HARD CORE besides in an MMO you earn nothing and waste everything this is what i have learned from my Pre Cu jedi grind and SOE and now im a pretty casual player and play for fun even in EVE where you CAN actually loose everything, and not everybody wins and ends up with the same shiney garbage as everyone else sooner or later!

To the people saying the population is low, have you even played the game? Sure there's not as many people playing since launch, but the population is still very healthy from what I can see. I play on Zikel and Israphel.
I played for the free month and didn't renew...not because I didn't enjoy it, but because it ran pathetically and my latency to the server was unusually high.
My Relationship With Aion: I walked into gamestop and preordered Aion. I played in the Aion betas. I developed an opinion on Aion. The game launched. I was not in Aion.
Same
Except I played the free month just to give it a chance..........with no success.
This game is really shallow and doesn't feel like a MMO

Same, except I actually played for a month, and then made the mistake of trying it again a few months later, playing for a week, and jumping ship again.
Wanted to give it a few more chances to improve. It seems that NCsoft does not care much about its customer base outside of the Asian market. I played Lineage 2 and it had most of the same problems as this game. This game is well written for graphics and also has potential for role playing, just has very poor implementation of the basic facts. They say pvp is the endgame, when you get to the endgame castle sieges all it is 1 huge zerg fest coupled with lag so bad even the people with the absolute best pc's out there had to turn all graphics settings to min and turn off characters from being drawn. This results in lag so bad you can hardly do anything, and all you can see is a seemingly endless stream of names in red or your sides white running all over. You really cannot do anything other than mash your buttons hoping the lag didnt prevent all your skills and abilities from working. Then you add in the higher level grind for experience. Up to about 35 or so its great, then after that there are far fewer quests to work on and the grind sets in. The experience required for each level gets to be so depressing its ridiculous. Once you hit 50 there are some quests to work on and some dungeon crawls, but no where near enough to get your really motivated. The pvp is fairly well balanced, but most pvp happens as squads of 3-6 players from the opposite side run around and jump or gank you. When it is 1v1 most of the time the opposing side waits until you have engaged a mob and lost part or or most of your health and then jumps in to finish you off leaving you little to no chance.
I am still paying and i plan on doing so for a few years probally forever depends on how amazing the major update is .
I am very happy with this game it's the best mmo i had yet and i absolutely dont mind grinding and i played games that has worse grinding and still sticking with them.
Reason people quit aion is because they want a goal such as getting to the end of the game as fast as possible but they realise it's not as easy as in WoW and they quit cause it's not easy enough.
It is possible to get to max lvl in WoW in just a few days there is proof of that and besides in this game impossible to get to lvl 50 in a week no matter what you do.
People want mmos to be as easy as single player games. They want everything handed to them. Hardcore gamers stick with games no matter how difficult it is.
Seriously quit whining on that this game is to grindy. All mmos are grindy at start and then they fix it by adding more quests. You cant expect a game to be perfect after just 3 months of play.
Suck me and grow up and start having patience for games.
I paid for a six month sub and haven't played since a couple of weeks after launch. So many better MMO experiences out there. Currently subbed to EVE, AoC and FE.
Got burned on both Aion and Champions with six month deals and have barely played either, just so bland. Nothing 'wrong' with the game for me, just very uninspired and lacking in imagination. I find AoC and FE to be much more involving as their game worlds are so much more well defined than the generic fantasy template used for Aion.
It seems that NCsoft does not care much about its customer base outside of the Asian market. <snip> The pvp is fairly well balanced, but most pvp happens as squads of 3-6 players from the opposite side run around and jump or gank you. I encountered the exact opposite of that.
I couldn't enter the race capital city for longer than 5 seconds before my whole system locked up completely, the support team emailed me atleast once every day for just over 2 weeks, until the problem was finally fixed.
This experience of pvp is fairly normal in Eve-Online and in the contested areas on WoW's pvp servers, it's due to human nature.

welcome to the human race.
Depends what kind of game it is. In proper pvp games like EVE, UO ( pre-trammel ) , Darkfall or Mortal Online such actions can result in repercusions: you will be killed on sight, looted or even worse your actions can escalate in a war between your clan and the clan of your victims. In the end your clan or alliance may lose more then it gained from your random ( not thought over ) kills.
Im playing still and loving it 5 more levels for the entire daevonian set thats 5 toons to 30.
Won't say its not losing people because it clearly is my legion has suffered some heavy falls of late.
Lost many to RL they came out of a MMO sebatacle to try Aion but just cant commit the time to it.
Lost a few as its not quest based enough, lost others because PVP is a core element.
Aion was never *despite what some fanboi's where saying) going to be this wow killing game, we have a enlarged community so desperate for that next big thing that every MMO becomes this wow killing machine to see us to the next gen.
Aion simply is not that MMO, It is a nice tidy bug free enjoyable PVP orientated game that I am thoroughly enjoying and can see myself doing for years to come.
SWG 30+ days ended up there for 4 years L2 30+ days 2 years WAR 10 days cancelled AOC cancelled pre-order based on beta never purchased it
My past history tells me I'll be there a good while.
its still number 2 on xfire so it will be there a very long while .it is a loved game if it wasnt it wouldnt still be number 2 on xfire mmorpg list
Very few threads were on this site that people said it would be a wow killer and if you really believed these people then you must be fooling yourself, it's a more pvp focused game so in other words different audience then wow.
Chimps, stop being a tard. Most people complain that it's too grindy because the game is boring. No one would mind the grind if the story, quests, etc were interesting
Well i usually have money to burn so i try to get the longest plan (Cause i hate the idea of paying a monthly fee for something i might not play everyday and would just like it there when i want it), so for aion i go the 1 year deal. I guess it's proven its worth up until my level 31 spiritmaster, my guild mates all quitting to go back to WOW or dragon age and the general lack of immersion. I have to admit i shouldn't have picked a SM cause they are like the lamest class in the game till level 50 (where you finally get a summon that posses a threat) TEmp's and CHant's (Yeah even rangers with there Hit and run tactic's) got it the best with there dual armor(cloth<---suck's even when you have orange gear,leather,plate<---pwn even on green gear..... Would have been so kool if they left it the way it was intended where anyone could where any armor as long as you slotted the right stigma stone in the early korean version) and magic spells. I guess i got what i payed for in the end and sorry if my post is a little incoherent im a little buzzed. If there aren't any significant update's like mounts(cause running, gliding and buying running potions isnt an option when you have to traverse a long dessert that has no flight option to it's location) and some of that stuff shown in the vision trailer by 10/17/10 then i wont re-sub.
Offtopic: And about the cosmetic charges they are going to implement, i think it kind of sucks that they are going to charge us for stuff that if given for free would only enhance the gameplay

oh, you're the one? Hey, I have a bridge for sale in NY, interested?

lol at this poll on this forum...
Yeah, your really sampling a sea of objective reasoned unbiased informed posters here, for sure...
This is truly science.
Dec 18th is my last day.

Playing Darkfall EU1 Server
I cancelled during the 30 days
The game is generally really nice to look at/around in.
But for me the game was missing "something" .... it didnt have that tiny spark of "whateveritis" that turns like into love ...
Aion is a game I like
UFO:Enemy Unknown is a game I love
Eve is a game I love
