[Poll] When will STO become "Free To Play" ?
It's lost most of it's momentum before launch. People have been canceling Pre-Orders. The game appears to be full of instancing and small 10vs10 PvP battles.

Its obvious your not going to be playing so why do you care?
I might play if it becomes F2P, but seriously why pay monthly for a game that calls itself an MMO when in actuality it's more like an online ladder system.
I don't see how this is a serious subject to be honest.
why all the hate for this game anyways? are these all Aion players who are bitter?
In all due fairness to the OP, he did put "Never" as a selection. Though it's still just anyone's speculation at this point.
Those who feel sympathy for the troll er OP i mean, should check his other posts about STO.
I honestly don't see the reason for this post. Furthermore, I wish I had the ability sometimes to lock posts.
A tiny mind is a tidy mind...
Game looks like it will be a lot of fun, not another WoW clone which frankly i'm so sick of (after Aion) I won't be playing another fantasy mmo for a very long time.
People seem to be voting, so there is obviously some interest in a F2P STO or at least opinions about it. Heck I would even do a 1 time purchase like Guild Wars as long as there was no monthy fee. It's not really an MMO. It'd be like paying for a First Person Shooters ladder.
STO will never become free to play.
I think someone said that about DDO once.
gave it second quarter
should be long enough for players "free" month plus to be over and to realize it ain't the star trek game they were hoping for
here's hoping for the future though - most importantly more and fully playable races

Unless Cryptic starts to fold I doubt you will see the game go F2p. I guess never say never, but I doubt Paramount/Atari would ever allow it.
According to the Mayan calendar, STO will be F2P in 1634.
Never, oh and no MMO message board is complete without 'FAIL' and 'Free to Play' topics. Thanks to generation dumb.
emmert strikes again.

So either way you're not going to play? Seriously if you don't like the way Cryptic has done the game then don't play. I'm not.
Agreed.
Hell, people are still paying for SWG . . .

star wars has more mass market appeal than trek. i dont see trekies hanging around in this turd for long.
It's not just Aion players, it's players of the genre who have been burned by awful incomplete title after awful incomplete title.
I don't think it is likely it will ever be F2P. As for the hate..well, a 2 year dev cycle? You'd think this would be an easy game to hate, because it is representing a lot of the standard things you see in the crappy MMOs that get put out these days. It is rushed, things got scaled back, gameplay will be poorly balanced in both PvP and PvE, the game itself will be short on content and shallow (and random content has been done before, and done by Cryptic before, and they haven't done that good of a job). The game is hyped to hell though, and there seem to be people lapping it up despite all the obvious signs this game is going to have major problems. Incredibly, Cryptic less than 6 months ago did the exact same thing with CO -- another game that looked good before launch and was hyped up, and people still can't read the writing on the wall with STO.
actually to all the people who didn't even think to mention it.... this game already has the premise for f2p in mind. They will allow micro transactions so if it were to go f2p if it failed after the 30 day trial I wouldn't be surprised. Consumer reports that f2p w/ micro transactions make more cash then p2p anyways.

Agreed.

Which I will never understand, but hey, for those few that are still there they must REALLY feel like masters of their own universe because it's pretty much a ghost town now.
Currently Playing: World of Warcraft

I think it's possible that the lappers up realize that this is a video game, and not a health care plan or something else that might hurt them if it's bad. The worst that can happen is that they might feel they didn't get their moneys worth if they don't like it. Probably won't be the first time that has ever happened. The writing on the wall and the cardboard doomsday signs are what's over-hyped .
Looks like the poll is about 60/40 as for will the game become free to play or not.

Hey now, I have not made any signs!
