Explain to me exactly why I have to pay $13 a month for AvA battles. Can you tell me what I get for that money that other games have not offered for free?
Dude, i told you to check info on official website. You will get all detailed information and what are you paying for. If its not your cup of tea move on to something you will enjoy. It can not be that complicated.
And he will do so.... but you still have not answered me the question on why this game belong as a RATED MMO on MMORPG.com??? how is this game a Role-playing game?
Why not ask MMORPG.COM staff? maybe they take your suggestion and remove Guild Wars, Global Agenda,, Warhammer Online etc games from their website? after all they don't fall in your own personal MMO definition.
Okay so tell me exactly how Guild Wars and Warhammer Online fall out of the MMO category? Because im not sure you have my definition of an MMORPG pinned down. Guild Wars DOESNT charge a monthly fee and offers more content than this game could ever hope to achieve, and I am not even sure why Warhammer is on your list, could you clarify?
So, a game has to have the right amount of content for you, or not charge a monthly fee to be considered a "MMO"? Cool, we better inform the MMORPG.com staff about this.

Well then I am guessing we have a different understanding of what an MMORPG is... Once again a by-product of having the genre watered down. Unfortunately, TRUE MMORPG's were in actual existence prior to WoW... and although I would STILL call WoW an MMORPG... the way it changed the MMORPG world was substantial... it redefined the genre and since then, the genre is continually redefined, over and over again until there are so many definitions of "MMORPG" that no one at this point is right or wrong.
Overall, do I believe Global Agenda should be in consider an MMORPG? hell no... does my opinion matter at this point? hell no, the genre has become an ethical mess :P

But Warhammer online is..massive? Why isnt it massive? This is all well and good, but what does this have anything to do with the point ive been trying to make in this thread?
So, a game has to have the right amount of content for you, or not charge a monthly fee to be considered a "MMO"? Cool, we better inform the MMORPG.com staff about this.
even it consider it an MMO, we would have to define how many people it would take to make the game an MMO. there thousands upon thousands of players in CoD:MW2... is that now an MMO?? and let me ask you this, where is the RPG in the game?? you going to tell me the RP is in the AvA?? I think not lolz :P
well first let me say that anyone who feels "scammed" or "butt-hurt" for buying a game out of their own will, are ridiculous. I say the same for those people who felt scammed for buying AoC... get over it lmao I didnt feel scammed for buying the game... I promptly got my refund and thats the end of it...
Once again, I am just stating that the game truly is not an MMORPG in its traditional definition... it is a Minimized Multiplayer Online First Person Real-time Strategy Shooter.. or MiMOFPRTSS
I dont want anybody to get me wrong, I was excited when i heard about Global Agenda. I was hyped up for it, but then when I heard the true features and how they were going to handle the Conquest I was turned off. I wanted this game to be good, I'm disappointed.
EDIT- I was really hoping for something similar to Planetside 2, in all honesty.

Haha that was meant to be tongue in cheek since OP just wouldn't give it up. All i am trying to say is that no one is forcing him to buy this game. Still he goes on and on as if their is gun pointed to his head..'buy it or die'.
I dont know. This game isn't bad. I say with a decent size population paying for the AvA, I could see this develop into an EvE-type FPS later.
I am going to pay a monthly fee in hopes that the game will change for the better as the groundwork on the game that is layed out seems it could be headed into glory.
But on terms of if it is an MMO or not. I say it is pushing the limits a lot. As it stands right now, it is a Semi-MMO.
Edit: Also, there is crafting and a choice between PvE and PvP which generally a FPS will only offer one or the other, not together.
MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit.
I read the conquest information and to me it doesnt sound massive at all. 10 pvp instances for the conquest? Thats horrible. I hope i'm wrong so if someone can clarify.
It's not massive in the traditional sense, but it really is if you think about it. True, in AvA the battles are 10vs10, which by itself is not massive. What makes it truly massive and makes the game legitimately an MMO is the fact that those 10v10 battles don't happen in a vacuum and there is a persistent war going on. For example, yesterday I took part in some AvA. My alliance decided to attack other alliances territory in order to expand. What we didn't know at the time is that other alliances were working against us. CTC, the largest alliance at the moment, were paying off other alliances and agencies to keep our core members occupied by constantly harassing our territory. We were forced to spend most of our time defending while CTC was continuing to expand.
As you can see, though battles are 10v10, at any given moment there are many other people participating in the war who's actions effect the greater scheme of things, and politics and scheming is possible due to the massive nature of AvA. Can the same thing happen in games like TF2 or CoD? Of course not. Those games are contained in the 10 or so minutes it takes for a round to be over and once it's over everything is reset. Meanwhile in GA, when AvA battles are over there's still grudges and scheming taking place, there's alliances planning their strategy for the future and opening negotiations with other alliances and agencies in hopes of forging new, if temporary, friendships by offering credits or valuable resources. It's a lot like EvE in that respect.
So, while you may look at 10v10 and scoff at that not being massive, you need to look at the whole picture and realize that it's just one battle in a greater war.
I dont want anybody to get me wrong, I was excited when i heard about Global Agenda. I was hyped up for it, but then when I heard the true features and how they were going to handle the Conquest I was turned off. I wanted this game to be good, I'm disappointed.

It's a game. fuck off if you don't like it and stop crying like a little bitch over it. Nobody's saying you have to play it. People need to stop making internet wars over such a miniscule delema. Is it an MMO? Are they lying to use saying it's an MMO? Why should it even matter.
To the people who like the game: Glad you found a great game and hope you enjoy it.

If you pay for a game just because it's an mmo you're a fool.
You pay because you get a very good server, continuous new content, anti-hacking and customer support.
If you're playing a free fps game with no item mall or dlcs that gives you all this then play it instead of this because it's obviously a better bargain. Seriously think of the money you might save, isn't that the important thing?
What's the big deal about instances? Consider the following
In a regular average ordinary battle in your usual MMORPG, EX: WOW, how many people do you (you personally!) fight in any given PVP battle? Now, would it be more on average if it were instanced?
How much time do you spend just traveling to where the real fighting is going on? Would it be less if you could go there instantly via an instance?
There is also some difference between instances in Global Agenda than in other games, at least for AvA. AvA battles actually affect other AvA battles in real, meaningful ways - even ones you aren't in.
Also, 10v10 is a good size. We tried much bigger matches in closed alpha, and it didn't work too well. It just ended up being a zergfest. You have to understand how damage, defense, and teamwork otherwise works in this game to understand why it doesn't make sense to have such large games. For that, you would have to play it, and play fairly well at that. This is not like TF2, BF2, RtCW:ET, etc.

Spoken like a TRUE gamer
It really shouldn't matter how big or small the battles are. People have such a narrow mindset determining what is massive and what's not. So many MMOs have gone towards instancing and the casual players, yet people say nothing about it. HiRez Studios comes along and blatantly says "We are making a MMOG that is primarily instanced." and people drop the bomb on them. WoW has introduced more instanced battles than any other end-game for a MMOG (Battlegrounds, Arenas, Raids, Dungeouns, Certain high level quests). The new Dungeoun Finder system made open-world leveling a thing of the past.
People call that an MMOG but refuse to claim that Global Agenda is as well? One word: Hypocritical.

Well if the game is fun and you like it who cares what anyone thinks. It's your 50 bucks and monthly fee. For me I just can't see paying a monthly fee for basically a twist on the FPS genre.

How is that any different from paying $50, then paying a monthly fee for what is basically a twist on the RPG genre?

And isn't that great? You don't have to! How much was Team Fortress 2 when it first came out? $50, thereabouts? In Australia it was $100 (because everyone hates us)
You can pay that one time fee of $50 (currently $45 for pre-order) and... just play. You don't need a subscription. You can treat it like you would any other FPS that you play online, except with an in-game walk-around lobby system.
I mean, yeah, they've realised that in creating a FPS they've made a whole bunch of FPS players join in on the action, FPS players that don't normally have to pay a monthly fee, and they've made a good decision by not making you pay monthly, unless you want to join in on the overlaying PvP/AvA faction wars that people who play games like EVE, DAoC and Shattered Galaxy are all so used to - and are used to paying monthly fees for.
And hell, they're charging 2 dollars less per month - SAVINGS! lol.
I am playing EVE and it's alright... level V skills are a bit much.

You all need to learn to spell.
