If they used Hercules patcher it would be OK (for Hercules at least). -:)
Mine isn't nearly done yet, I wouldn't release it. I have only a little time to work on it and it's ugly as sin
Obviously it was not good enough since they got the code and did not use it ^^
Just kidding! I bet they would do it them self if they had the time.
And yes, if it is an volunteer; Is it not better to get it for free than pay loads for it (if you get a similar product ofcourse?). I sure would do that =P
And yes, they "hired" a contractor (volunteer) becasue of their lack of time

How do you know that they could do it? Do they have any people on their team with proven record as a game software developer?
I mean they had a patcher before they hired this contracter and it stinked. That tells me that either they cant code a proper patcher or they dont have the time. Since patchers are very central for MMORPGs it would strike me as quite odd that they are letting an external source to develop something as integral as a patcher.
The fact that they attempted doing it themselves, and didnt do a good job, indicates that they really dont have the know how for it. And if they dont have that then how can they have the know how to code something as complex as an MMORPG?
I am starting to believe more and more that what Hercules is saying is true, they are not developers but rather Unreal modders.
