Well considering they have yet to hire their content designer and a few other important jobs, how did they release anything at E3?E3 was already come and gone no,late last year?

I don't know any details about the first part of your comment, other than you can always have MORE content designers and "other important" jobs.
As for the E3 remark, you do know that the have E3 every year, right? So, if the article was written on February 4, 2010, wouldn't it stand to reason that they are talking about E3 in the summer of 2010?

Warhammer 40k MMO 'could last seven years'
Thursday 4-Feb-2010 9:54 AM THQ has high hopes for PC title's longevity; Showing at E3
4 CommentsTHQ has claimed that new MMO Warhammer 40,000 could have a lifespan of seven years - and confirmed that it will be showing the title off at E3.
I was really hoping for an MMOFPS like Planetside but that hope has been dashed. Looks like we can prepare for Generic MMO # 596, with Bolters slapped onto it.
Has THQ done MMO before? I am sure they will do an amazing job with this.. Just look at how popular their RTS games have been. This one may have just made it to the list of MMO's I am looking to play, currently FFXIV, SWToR and now this.
In the name of the immortal emperor, this game shall pwn all others!!!!!!!!
or not.
Funny seeing so many GW noobs posting
By Thy Emperor! Where do you see these GW noobs posting? Point them with an imperial finger. x'D
For them: This is not GW and I thought it maybe a Tabula Rasa counterpart but if not, it might be something simmilar to the Gods & Heroes system, with your own customizable and leveling squad, the type of army you chose.
Warhammer 40K is such a great, rich universe that I can see this being pretty good. On the other hand, the potential for it to get ruined is just as high because the universe is so good. Please for the love whatever you hold divine, don't mess this up.
You guys wanna bet that we are going to see female space marines?
That is why I hate "girls" playing games, they completly ignore the lore and cry for "OMGZ I WANNA BE A FEMALE SPACE MARINE LOLOLOL1111"
I would be willing to put money on that!
Being in a rather cynical mood today, I would say that I would even bet that we will see cross-race guilds.... Space Marines and Tau and Eldar working together for the Emperor, The Greater Good and the survivar of the Eldar race.
@lumster You obviously have 0 knowledge of the adeptus soritas or 40k lore. Female space marines (adeptus soritas) I believe are second only in ability to resist chaos corruption to the grey knights. They also heavily favour flamer and melta wepons as part of their lore which makes them excellent against ork hords. Saint sabbat was considered to be one although I dont think she ever received the training or implants and gene seed. I might be mistaken.
@matata Eldar have been known on more then one occasion to side with the imperium for a means to their own end but if it was for the emporer id be pissed to see that too. (Although if you really read into it they ARE trying to help the humans more then even the emporer or any human might know, to try and stop the coming of a 5th chaos god if the imperium should collapse.)

exactly. and to top it off. sisters of battle are basic gaurdsmen in powerarmor who are female. they have no implants. no geneseed no extreame training. they are nuns with guns. thats it, they have standard human abilities only bonus is they have powerarmor.
and no they dont have the ability to resist chaos. no one can, as chaos is a taint gained by harboring ill thoughts or desires
grey knights, are all psycer units. they have force weapons which are designed to fight demons thats it, which is why they are mostly used with gaurd armies as they lack the units and weapons to fight a demon or pack of demons. where as spacemarine has a chance.

Grey knights actually have very limited daemon fighting abilities, they only 2 daemon specific rules they have are so outdated i dont think they work anymore, at least not against an actual daemon army, though psycannons are pretty good anti daemon.

The MMO industry has chewed up my soul and spat it out on the floor, taken a dump on it and spread it around with it's great big cloned boot over the years.
I like this IP though.
Lol.
Completely agreed. I want to be excited by this news but instead I'm filled with a sense of 'I wonder how they're going to screw this up.'
MMOs are the kiss of death to anything that has a pre-existing canon. Developers are incapable of being faithful to lore because somehow it can't co-exist with 'fun' gameplay.
while GK are old and dated, they still work with a gaurd unit. marines now have alot of the GK options for their Lib attacks. but gaurdsmen dont really get that option but who knows GW is really slow at revamping armies.. i kind of want to see a legion of the damned army :P
fought one years ago in a rogue trader turny totally dominated my bloodangels O_O

Thankyou for pointing that out and saving me from having to. There is no such thing as a female space marine. Also.....
@ Matata: There will be no Tau and Eldar fighting alongside Space Marines. At least there shouldnt be. The Astartes (space marines) were tasked by the Emperor to bring every planet in the universe to compliance. That means uniting all lost humans under the banner of the Emperor, fighting all manifestations of the warp and destroying all "xenos scum".......which includes Eldar and Tau as they are both xenos. Hmmm look at me talking about this as though its real lol......ahem......I mean.....Praise be to the Emperor!
If the 40K mmo allows guilds (or Chapters) of mixed race though then that would be.....bloody awful! It would be a fantastic way to crap all over the IP. Hopefully THQ wont be that stupid.
I wonder if there will be Space Ship Combat like STO and EvE
Possibly, but unlikely. WAR40K is more about ripping your opponent's face off with a chainsword than flying around in space and pew-pewing little ships. Though there are ships in the WAR40K canon. Just give me some Orbital Bombardment and I'm a happy camper...
Is there any confirmation, or strong suspicion about the company thats going to develop this game?
Hmmm lets see now. Perhaps the answer to your question can be found in the article that this thread is talking about. It involves a single mouse click and the use of your eyes.

Indeed. Ship combat would be an unnecessary aspect of the game for them to focus on. It was ignored in the Dawn of War games and hopefully it will get ignored in the mmo as well. I certainly dont want to see a great IP get ruined due to a misguided desire to appeal to everyone. Jack of all trades = fail.
One of the reasons why EvE is a good game is because over the years it has focused exclusively on space ships despite the large number of whining idiots complaining about not having a little man to control. Only now are CCP beginning to pander to the masses with ambulation which is a shame.
There may well be parts of the game which take place on board ships or space hulks though. Who knows. We will have to wait and see I guess.

LOL
LOL
LOL
LOL
LOL
I cant wait LOL
At least, this time an IP is not destroyed by Cryptic; it will be destroyed by others.
If they make a kind of linear story-telling stupid game a la Dragon Age or the forthcoming SWTOR we are lost!
It is a question of fangs.
